- How could this not be fun? You get to break off chunks of wood with a hammer! I’m rally happy with how this turned out. The resin is crystal clear and you can see all the jagged edges of wood. They are mixed in with random pieces of solid wood.
I hope you enjoy this video. Please let me know if there is a project you'd like to see me make and I will do my best to do it. Thank you for all the support you have shown me and the channel!

Thank you! - Ed
one of the prettiest wood resin bowls...great shape and overall concept
Thank you! - Ed
Great bowl. Nice to see you back.
Wes @ Piedra Designs
Thank you Wes! I've got some great ideas that I'm looking forward to share with you all. Take care! - Ed
I like it, good job
Thank you Tim! - Ed
Great bowl, Ed. It's definitely great to see you back again. I hope the move went well. Don't apologize for the puppy noise. They are meant to be enjoyed - even the barking.
Bill
Thank you Bill! Yes the move went well and I agree about the puppy. Take care and have a blessed day! - Ed
Nice job
Thank you! - Ed
Hats off to you Ed for taking on and sharing this project. A lot of people don't realize how hard it is to turn an end grained bowl. Much less a resin infused one! The piece came out awesome. Great job! V
Thank you Mike! It certainly does have its challenges. Take care! - Ed
Great use of scraps. Lovely job.
Yippie, Ed is back!
The bowl is beautiful.
15:45 Awww, so cute. Please show her to us 🥰
Thank you Chris! I should have included a picture of her. I'll put one in the CZcams post. - Ed
Very, very pretty! You did a great job. I am a newbie. My husband got me a lathe for my 55th birthday this past February. I’m really enjoying it but still definitely learning to use my tools properly. I enjoy watching several different wood turners. I just found you. If the rest of your work is nice, as this, then you have a new subscriber.
Thank you Lynda and congrats on the new lathe. I've been turning for a few years and still feel like I'm learning something. Take care! - Ed
Good morning, Ed.
Every enjoyable video. Interesting design with a fantastic outcome. No cracking with the resin, excellent. Comforting music while witnessing the crafting of this piece. I like your style. Blessings to you as you move forward.
Thank you Ray! I appreciate the kind words. Take care and have a blessed day. - Ed
Very nicely done, I like how the resin didn't over power the wood. They complimented each other. Thank you for sharing your video.
Thank you Mark! I really appreciate it. It has a very neat affect where it looks clear sitting on the counter top, but held up to light, you can see the blueish tint. Take care brother! - Ed
Nice work Ed! Good to see you back in the shop. Missed watching your videos. Take care and GOD BLESS 🙏!
Thank you brother! I missed the shop too, but it was nice to spend some time with my son. When they are grown and on their own, you don't get to see them that much. It was truly a blessing to spend that time with him. I also enjoyed seeing all the beauty of God's creation in Alaska. Truly a stunning place! Take care Stephen! - Ed
@@WolfRidgeWoodworking I know what you mean. I've got 2 kids myself and they're both grown I hardly ever see them anymore. I've never been to Alaska but what I've seen on tv and pictures people have took I would love to see it.
Nice turn. I loved the music. I look forward to more.
Thank you very much! - Ed
Lovely piece the blue isn't as bright as I thought which is nice. Those jagged edges are cool. It's good to see you back on the tube.😘😘
Thank you very much Ellen! I was very surprised at how light the end product was after seeing how dark it was in the cup. One thing it taught me is to look at the stick you're stirring it with. If you pull the stir stick out and look at it, you get a better idea of just how light or dark it's going to really be. Have a blessed day! - Ed
Wow Ed. For such a simple idea it turned out looking very nice. AND your video editing is really good. I never felt bored or that it was dragging too slow or too long.
Thank you ! Best of luck
Thank you so much Dwayne! I really appreciate the compliment. Take care and have a blessed day!
- Ed
Beautiful bowl and what a great idea
Thank you Tim! I'm always looking for ways to use up those scraps. I just hate burning good gold.....I mean wood. ha ha - Ed
Oh Ed that turned out beautiful. And the combination of the sound of the tools and lathe with the lovely music is just soothing. Got to get back on mine have hot turned in awhile either. Been too hot out in the shop. God bless and have a really great weekend.
Thank you so much Jane! The one benefit of being gone for so long was that I really missed a lot of the hottest parts of the Arizona summer. Looking forward to the fall where I can open up the garage and enjoy some fresh air. Take care and have a blessed day! - Ed
Nice seeing ya back in action on your channel, Ed. Nice bowl you turned!!👍
Thank you brother! It felt so good to be back in the shop. - Ed
awesome bowl. i love that you kept the resin clear. i love the look of pearl pigments and stuff also but there’s just something about clear resin with wood.
i would’ve liked to see how blue it came out but i couldn’t really tell at the end with the blue background!
Thank you! Funny thing is that the color looked so blue in the cup, but it just has the faintest blueish tint. When it's sitting on the counter, it looks clear. It's only when you hold it up to the light that you can see the blue tint. Really happy with how it came out. - Ed
Why do some of these turner's use a pressure chambers and vacuum chambers for their resin pours and some do not? Is it just the type of resin? or is it just preference?
This is an excellent bowl design. I have just started using Alumilite Clear Slow and the instructions call for the "demolding" time and then about an additional week of curing time outside the mold. Did you go directly to the lathe after having your second pour go through the pressure pot, or did it cure for a week also? Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you for watching! I will typically turn it the next day. I've never had any issues. They only Alumilite product that needs more time to cure is the Alumilite Deep Pour, but once it's hardened, you should be good to go. If it's tacky still, let it cure some more. - Ed
Seattle's a LOVELY town...I hope he's enjoying himself. It's good he got out of Canada before they shut the doors and make it a communist country. 5 minute epoxy releases MUCH easier from silicone. Tuck tape also works well on the lining of the mold. Like all the artists who used the wet-on-wet techniques, and made magic white...no one will know just how toxic the fumes are until they die of cancer. CA is incredibly toxic. You do lovely work, but I thought you were supposed to hold the tool at an angle?
