This year the movies that I was amazed about were "NANPAKAL NERATHU MAYAKKAM, RORSACH, MUKUNDAN UNNI ASSOCIATES, IRATTA, KAATHAL, KANNUR SQUAD, and RDX.. this year Mammootty totally stole all types of audiences with various genres!!
Should have had Jagadish in the roundtable. An encylopedia of Indian cinema and one of the top 2 actors on form in the industry along with Mammootty

All the talents present during this interview.. they're all equally great weather it's on directions, music and acting. Great talents!

None of the present days' actresses seem to be versatile. All are good in one kind of roles that they all constantly portray. The biggest drawback of Malayalam cinema today is lack of versatile actresses like Manju, Urvashi, Shobhana, Bhavana, Kavya, Navya, Samyukta, Meera Jasmine, Vani etc
I still remember till the day before the release of RDX, there were so many posts teasing the team's decision to release it opposite the much hyped KOK....& from the very next day, everything turned upside-down..
And the real Kok helped them.His review of RDX helped the succes of the film.
That planned attack was done by dq and mamotty toxic fans especially mamottys social media head and silky monks channel producer sponsored and supported some insta reels which degrade rsx team especially neeraj madhav

Pookutty tried to act over smart. It kinda spoiled the interview. Probably he had a couple of valid points, but his tone and body language turned against him.

The movie 2018 became a hit for the effort the team put to make it look as real as possible.
If I see somebody put their genuine effort ìn a movie, we malayalis will support the movie in any way possible.
In current malayalam movie scenario, only a very few movie is either well written or well directed or both.
King of kotha is an example. People wanted the movie to be so good, but the writing lacked big time. You can't expect to fool audience.

Malayalam cinema has been widely appreciated for its stories and writing. One of the reasons for this is that the director is not burdened with screenwriting and story writing. Even in Hollywood, many movies have the story and screenplay developed by others, and the director comes in to execute it. In the rush for the Indian directors to be all-in-all superman, chasing glory, they end up not doing justice to any of the facets of cinema.
Also directors in India are not rooted except for few depending on which industry and their experience. One one hand if an industry has l.j pelliserry then another industry has karan johar who lives in his own bubble. Worldwide every director is rooted so as Indian it's easy to relate to a joel and ethan Coen film as well as Iranian director or kerala filmmaker. What's the point of having all the talent be it screenwriter or director when they're not informed about their own community.

Resul has good p.o.v on literature and cinema. To add to that directors should be informed about their own community and observe various issues. The information can be found through all kinds resources, literature being one of them. Hindi filmmakers have concept of hero, heroine, villain, emphasis on costumes and songs. Now its all business like overdoing the massy movies and collaboration with tamil or telugu filmmakers because of box office results. Hindi cinema apart from streaming content which is independent has become more about making the next 1000cr movie than good storytelling.

Tamil cinema has a need and chance to explore a lot of tamil literature. But there are very few independent producers compared to kerala. The thirst to explore the literature and play it in big screen is out in a larger space. Mainstream tamil cinema hits on a different than even mainstream kerala .
