I started watching Malayalam Movies because of OTT platforms. My first film of Malayalam-language was Kumbalangi Nights and Fahadh Faasil were really fantastic. Now i have put my trust in Malayalam movies and i hope they continue to do such amazing stories, like Minnal Murali, from a fan from Malaysia! 🇲🇾

Same my also first Malyalam movie was Kumbalangi Nights.. from there I started following Fafa and now I literally watched each movie of his.. such a great personality
FAFA is awesome but malayalam industry has been simply fabulous even since 90s. Directors such as Padmarajan, K G George, Sibi Malayil, Bharathan etc still influence the present filmmakers in malayalam. Also Mohanlal, Mammooty and Thilakan are literally world class actors - wonders to which sadly non malayali audience are not exposed to. And I repeat that's a shame for Indians. Also the industry has changed alot in the quality of films from 2011( from where the new Gen cinema began ) onwards and that's been simply amazing 👏. So as someone who watches films from every language I can say that Malayalam cinema is and has always been the best film industry in our country.

Konkona is amazing in any character she plays. Such an incredible actor. Her portrayal of Bharati Mondal was flawless. Kudos!
Can't agree more! Konkana's portrayal was so hauntingly beautiful in the film esp silent moments which I suppose is most difficult for an actor
Agree. That movie shook me. Very few movies - forget Hindi, Indian or otherwise - are written with SUCH NUANCE and subtlety! Like I loved her every look and micro expression. And even more that it spoke about casteism and a dalit character winning the day.
Imagine Tovino and Konkona in a movie together that would be the best thing ever ever!!! Netflix let's make this happen!

Realised that Sanya is pretty grounded, and just seems like your girl next door. Which definitely adds to her charm, and we think this is why she is able to give an honest performance in a movie like Pagglait or Patakha. She's relatable!
I need to praise Konkona though see was not so verbal in this interview, but always looked so sorted out about her thoughts. Like she is happy in the place she is, and she is so cool and chill. I really look forward to the characters she plays and she amazes me every freaking time. Also I want to express about Sanya, oh what a calming voice she has, and though professionally we are very different,I relate to the way she feels and thinks a lot.
Really want to see Fahadh Faasil in these type of interviews. He is a gem.

I think the biggest winner in the OTT revolution is the Malayalam Film Industry. It was always producing top class content, but never had the audience. Now it's really changing and getting the appreciation it's always deserved.

Such a true statement for me personaly , as it had helped me understand other cultures and their nuances which made me accept any people from any back ground without any prejudice , and that curiosity has given me a lot of friends from very different backgrounds. Movies can expand your mind for true !

I used to go through all malayalam, tamil, telugu, kannada and hindi channels and I watch those movies without any subtitles (i don't remember all the names or how many I've watched). I could understand most of the words spoken without any other help.. And now I even watch English, French, thai, Korean, Japanese and Chinese movies too.. I'm sure there are many malayalees like me, and the commenter. That's what Tovino was talking about

I never thought that Raveena is such a articulated person, She is making her point in a very clear and simple language.

I'm so glad to see Raveena Tandon here. I'd love to see the actresses of the 90s together in one movie or series. Actresses like Raveena, Kajol, Karisma, Juhi, Madhuri, Urmila, Tabu, Sonali, Manisha, Sushmita and Pooja Bhatt. The dept, experience and maturity they'd bring to the screen would be magical to see. Especially for us 90s kids. Dear Netflix, make it happen! ✨

One important point that I've observed through out the years being someone who has roots from the south but has lived his entire life in the north, moulded by their culture, there is some kind of language barrier or cultural barrier that the rest of India feels when it comes to trying out non hindi / non-Bollywood films. The sudden culture shock or be it the struggle to read subtitles is usually a major deal breaker, than all the important points like reach and exposure that Tovino has mentioned. People don't even know classics like Chup Chupke, Hera Pheri, Bhool Bhulaya, Drishyam etc and many more are originally malayalam films.
This is something I've been observing with all my friends and acquaintances.
