Home run for Utah. Sergachev's development was a bit stunted considering who he played behind in Tampa, but he always showed he had skill, skating, and physicality. In a number one role with a good partner, he will shine.
Utah also acquired John Marino mere minutes after getting Sergachev. Marino is right hand shot and Sergachev is a left hand shot.

Watched Geekie this past season in Swift Current. The Broncos were a middle of the pack team until Geekie showed up and they rocketed up the standings and won the division. Team became a contender seemingly overnight. Tampa got a gem with this guy.

Apparently Tampa also wants to take a run at Guentzel. Tampa also dumped Jeannot to LA so they may have space to get both Stamkos and Guentzel.

I love Moser he fits in our top 4 perfectly, especially with the McDongah trade it made sergachev the odd man out. If we can re-sign stammer and potentially get a guy like Guentzal then that’s a great deal. Also Geekie slides in as our #1 prospect
And if stamkos will go - even better, tarasenko is ufa and he , probably, agree to play for less than stamkos

This might be a trade where both teams win. Utah gets a defenseman to build their core around and Tampa gets a direct replacement for him (JJ Moser), a great prospect (Conor Geekie), and a couple of draft picks.

Thoughts on Utah keeping Crouse?
imo this playoff season and the Panthers grinding it out against the Oilers offense has shown that the Devils will need to be able to muck it up in the playoffs to win. I wish Tom Fitzgerald would have traded Palat to Vegas instead of Holtz. Fitzgerald deserves to be in the hot seat and on a leash. Last offseason Schmid's agent asked the Devils for more money -- thus the Schmid move is kind of not surprising. I liked Akira Schmid. He proved himself when he saved the series against the Rangers.

Has a Bolts fan there is a deep pain when losing a guy who’s been such a key part, and a memorable part of multiple cup runs, however this isn’t a bad move.
There was an expectation among Tampa Bay fans and seemingly their front office that Sergachev was gonna be the next Hedman. Over the years while he was great he never really made that next step, and an argument could be made since 2021 he’s made small steps back with his game year after year.
The main reason to keep him was his amazing playoff performances, but the Lightning have shown themselves to be smart by recognizing that they haven’t had that playoff success for a few seasons. They have lost three straight series, and they’ve been the worse team in each series by a significant margin. Now they are still the Lightning so they came pretty close to winning in 2022 and 2023, and had things been slightly different in either series it’s very possible they would’ve won either year. But 2024 was an embarrassment for the franchise, the one bright spot was Kucherov and his efforts weren’t even enough to win the Hart(I know I sound snobby saying that, still salty about McK winning it this year man wtf).
Otherwise they got exposed badly by the Panthers. The main issue was the defense which was pretty terrible this season and a major step down from previous years. So with that in mind if the Lightning aren’t experiencing playoff success and there defense is bad in those playoffs, and Sergachev is one of the biggest pieces of said bad defenses then it’s not a bad move to move him. Especially when he’s making the kind of money you’d expect for a super star. As well if Geekie turns out to be a star that’s gonna make Tampa real interesting for the next fifteen years.

sergachev is overrated, stamkos is more important to the team even at his age. plus the opportunity to go after someone in free agency like guentzel or maybe even a matt roy for the right side. plus conor geekie has the tools to be the bolts future number 1 or 2 center. remember when sergachev went down with that first injury and the team performed better?
Stamkos is TBL legend. One of the best to ever wear that jersey. He should and need to retire as bolts. That just has to happen.
