I really like Prime's interpretation of predacons being an ancient extinct race that are like dinosaurs to them.
awesometacular also makes sense because of the preda part. They PREDAte everything else. I would’ve liked to see the predacon in Shockwave and Starscreams lab become a character in a show though. Would’ve made RID much better

It always weirded me out that Predaking was a bad guy, I think they're better suited as Autobots rather than Decepticons. I mean look at that combined mode, It looks heroic and noble af.

Preditorize is not even a real word. Also, the writers didn't think of a more original team name like Carnivoids or something.
While I genuinely do like all the versions of the Predacons for various reasons, Prime's Predaking is tied for my favorite alongside Beast Era Waspinator.
Prime's Predaking was a more simplisticly noble leader, which was a great foil for the cold and devious Megatron. Waspinator was both funny and simply would not die, despite taking massive amounts of damage, often at the hands of his own faction mates.
I personally suspect that Predaking could be Megatron II. He is way more cunning then people give him credit for.

G1 Predacons are cool but I think I like the TF Prime Predacons better especially TF Prime Predaking.

I liked the design of the g1 better but the writing on Prime made them more interesting. Prime had the best writing of all the iterations of TF in my opinion. Wish Bay had hired those guys for the movies.

Tantum got pulled in twine by Scorponok in their civil war, which was also instigated by Starscream.

That's what I love about Chris McFeely. Although it may seem repetitive, his use of the exact same terms throughout each and every video makes it easy for the viewer to make connections across all of them.
Beast Wars' Predacons are probably my favourite version of the Predacons, although the Prime version comes a close second

Idea on how to consolidate the three major groups of Predacons: Predacons were originally a name of a race of larger than average Cybertronians with the power to transform into beastly alternate modes, they were regarded as great and powerful warriors but over the millennia, as Cybertron changed rulers the various races fled the planet including most of the Predacons. Then during the Great War a group of five Predacons joined the Decepticons and took their ancient racial name as the name for their unit, also gaining the power to combine through a brush with the Enigma of Combination or a Shockwave experiment. The Predacon Decepticons were led by Razorclaw who believed firmly in might makes right and the power of the beasts, so much so that he never accepted it when the Great War finally ended in Autobot victory. Loosing faith in the Decepticon name but still proud of his heritage he went on to expand his Predacon team into a full faction still bearing the name of the ancient race.

You're not cool until you have been taken offline by a cosmically-powered Starscream.
What's always bugged me about the original Predacons is that bulls and rhinos aren't predators, as well as the fact that there were two of the team were based on cats and that Razorclaw was too small to form Predaking torso on his own.
I always envisaged a six member team made up of an eagle, lion, bear, shark, crocodile and a wolf. This would allow for a wider range of actual predators and a two part torso, like devastator.
I think your idea makes more sense, since it involves less scaling issues than the G1 Predacons, and also your idea actually has predatory animals and G1 Predacons have a rino even though rinos aren't preadators.
@@ShimadaHideo scaling issues? Then let me introduce you to G1 Devastator, constructicons were a bit over a story, then they merged and suddenly each one of them becomes practically a house in size.
Tbf I don't think predacon should be taken too literally when it comes to beast modes.
Bulls and Rhino the perfect Pred don't out think yousekf they are tough and not to be played with

Being a beast wars kid I have a nostalgic link to those Predacons, but I have to admit I love the aesthetic of the Prime variants.

But in all seriousness, while I've admittedly got a soft spot for the G1 originals, and the Prime versions to a lesser extent, to me "Predacon" is always going to mean the Beast Wars faction. Damn shame we never got to see them come to fruition in Animated.

I love that Divebomb would occasionally just leave, and Predaking would be left without any shoulders.
Oh, and they wouldn't work as a dragon Combiner. The fact that animals turn into a Humanoid Combiner is a little bit of a twist to me.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the Starscream led faction of Predacons from War Within. Personally I see the various Predacons as being linked in some way, all stemming from Onyx Prime of the Thirteen. After Onyx went into the Well of All Sparks, it gave birth to the ancient Predacons first. The sparks of these first Beast Transformers would later evolve into all the Transformers who would end up adopting Beast modes including the G1 Predacons. Secretly teaming with the Quintesons, the Predacons became powerful warlords who backed Starscream when he formed his own faction during War-Within. Then after the great war, Razorclaw took control of the remaining Decepticons, renaming them Predacons, but was defeated. The Tripredacus Council took command and made peace in order to buy time and rebuild their forces.
The Predacons are probably one of my favorite combiner group of all time!

I'll have to say. I love Predaking g1 for it's badass design and team color.
Combiners, Decepticon descendants, and cloned fossils. It's all the same to me really. I'll always enjoy the Predacons as a whole. ☺
Ever since Call of the Primatives, Predaking has been my favourite combiner, that episode is so good.
I only ever think of the g1 Predacons when people use the name.
The concept of the Anibots intrigues me. The Predacon colours and shapes look quite benign, so even the final toy design could have been good aligned. Then again, there always were too many Autobots, so I'm torn about the concept.
Another interesting twist would have been for them to either stay loyal to the Quintessons or become mavericks working for themselves (somewhat like the Insecticons).
Oh, and whoever's side they were on, I wish they'd been smaller than Dinobots. :)
The Prime Wars Predaking toy design impresses me. Each member is the same size which, in the original toy gave him disproportionately large limbs for his body. Somehow, the new toy has much more normal proportions, with a whole lot of extra body folding out to meet the limbs.
Ih yea also fun fact for predaking - in transformers prime 3rd season he was a dragon not a combiner but just a single dragon.
To your point, all of their beast modes would be considered more appropriate for Maximals in the future of Beast Wars.
@@autobotstarscream765 Perhaps if now-defunct Transformers Collectors' Club had lasted a few more years, we could have gotten a redeco of the Generations Predacons as the Anibots... or better still, just call them the Maximals. It might seem lazy, but something about the two major factions mirroring each other has always seemed appropriate in Transformers, both as a toyline and in the fiction.
Now, whether to make them all new characters, or reuse names of existing characters (American or Japanese), there I'd be open to debate. Well, I do fancy an Autobot-aligned redeco of Razorclaw as Leo Prime. ;)

Group: (Original) Maximals
Combined form: Victory Leo
Lion: Leo Prime
Tiger: Tigatron
Eagle: Airrazor (if it's okay for Airrazor to turn into a different bird species)
Rhino: Rhinox
I'm mainly thinking about what Tantrum's Maximal opposite should be; if a bull, then maybe Nocturro, while if a buffalo, then Bighorn.

Beast Wars Megatron is an awesome character in Beast Wars! If they make a live action film, I think he should be in it!

Ever since I was a kid, my favorite combiner is Predaking, and I'm happy they've made a G1 reissue of them last 2010..I finally got one of my "holy grails" in my collection.. 😄 thanks for this video!

@@soundwavedoesthings that I can agree with. The predacons and the seacons when in combiner form, are both unified based on the hunting instincts of of the team. Predaking was the first successful combiner for the decepticons and then they went looking for a similar team and found the same success with the seacons.

Gotta say, I'm a fan of the Tarantulas character the most. In the two incarnations I've seen him as (the show and SoTW), I really like his scheming nature. There's always something he wants, and he'll take an intriguingly diabolical route to take it.

0:29 WOW! I'd love to have a toy of that version of G1 Predaking! It's not every day you see a dragon with bird wings and a rhinoceros head (with saber teeth and a snake tongue). Maybe this is why "Prime" made their version of Predaking into a dragon. Well that, and possibly BW Megatron's dragon form.

Please never stop these videos, these help me structure my own universe in some way and, help with characters I never thought to use.
I'm trying to think of a way to reconcile all the Predacon variants and I may have it down. The Prime Predacons were a totally separate lifeform on Cybertron living in ancient times, then over time they evolve and change to gain intelligence leading to the creation of their name and the ability to transform. Their direct descendants would be the Generation 1 Predacons in the modern day who would join the Decepticons and then after them come the Beast Wars Predacons. Sound good?

Prime predacons are my favorite incarnation so far.I like how it is explained in the book Covenant of Primus that they were created by copying Onyx Prime's ability to take on the aspect of organic creatures
I would love an idea to connect the G1 Predacon team with the Beast Wars characters by having the g1 Predacons be part of the same faction as the one in Beast Wars!
Even though the Beast Era was "my era" of the Transformers, I have to admit I think I like the Transformers Prime take on the Predacons best. The native Dinobots of Cybertron, great beasts of power and ferocity unmatched by any other.
Other than his fight with Volcanicus, Predaking was very underused in Machinima's Power of the Primes.
The G1 Predacons are my favourite combiner team. My favourite Predacon overall has to be Terrorsaur.

My favorite incarnation of the Predacons are the original Tf G1 and Transformers Prime because I like their beast modes from G1 and TFP better than their robot modes. Especially Predaking's dragon mode who is king of the Predacons. And in my opinion, they need some attention because the predacons from Beast Wars became popular than the original and the TFP series.

I loved the Predicons as a kid, but I loved all the Combiner groups. The color scheme was a bit different to be sure, as it struck me as more of an Autobot color scheme.

Have you ever thought of doing a vid on Beast Wars Dinobot? You've talked about 'The Dinobots,' but especially after he was inducted into the Hall of Fame (in 2006?), he's proven himself a fan favorite and I admit he's definitely mine. I'd be really interested to hear your thoughts about his history, character arc and how he impacted the greater Transformers-verse. Thanks so much for considering! :)

We very nearly got a “heroic Predacon” during the Beast Machines toy line as I recall. I seem to remember Beast Machines Buzzsaw was going to have that designation until they decided it would be too confusing and just made him a Maximal.
one idea i liked about the predacons is that they were being used for their power by the decepticons and rebelled against them and decided to form their own alliance against both autobots and decepticons and fight for their own means of survival

If it weren't for the Predacons, I wouldn't be a Transformers fan today! My first TF figure was Buzzclaw, the Fuzor, way back in the late 90s, and I've been hooked ever since!
My first Beast Wars toys were 3 Fuzors, Air Hammer, Noctoro, & Buzzclaw as well
The G1 PREDACONS are the best! PREDAKING is the best combiner! RAZORCLAW is the best member of the team. That's why he's the leader. TFP PREDAKING is a close second.

Personally if I were to make a comic I’d have there be an ancient warrior called predicon and the Decepticon predicons would name themselves and it with one of the predicons would help build the beast wars predicons
I wonder if Hasbro will consider the idea of the Autobots having their own version of the Predacons? I mean, there have been a couple of Autobots from different realities that turn into animals, even though most of them are Maximals. Also, I wasn't referring to the Dinobots they are based on prehistoric animals, but not like a team that turns into modern day animals, the only character I can think of that is close to my description is Magnaboss from Beast wars 2.

In real life, no one likes a Wasp to be anywhere near them so we try to swat them away. So the Universe hates Waspinator because he is a wasp, and people hate Wasps. That's my theory that I just came up with anyway.
Maybe if Waspinator was a motorcycle instead of a Wasp the universe would like him more.

I think I had 3 or 4 of the original G1 predacons. I remember in my 30s opening a box of my old stuff and found the last one I still owned, Razorclaw. I was a huge fan of the Dinobots and Predacons!!!

One thing not mentioned is that Hasbro lost the trademark on Tantrum's name in the mid-2010s, so he was renamed Torox for later toy releases, including Power of the Primes.

When I first saw the notification my first thought was "I thought he already did them" and wondered if it was a reupload similar to Slipstream. My best guess is seeing BW Megatron front and center stood out in the small icon next to the notification which confused me. Watching it though it was obvious that it was new.
