I believe he is already feeling something for her but doesn't want to admit , because he is to proud of himself or he doesn't know yet his feelings. My goodness, this is a difficult life, difficult love, loving but not knowing what is love.

Now I have watched it three times. I do want you to know that I was not critiquing your "bit slow" even though it seems that way because I initially had trouble getting committed to it.
