Back when I played in middle school i hated when the other kids would steal my cards so sprayed them with mint spray the smell lasted along time I caught a few kids red handed they go and say they didn't steal it then I asked them why those cards smell like mint and once the word got out that I sprayed my cards with mint. No one stole another card from me again.
Xeye10 it works surprisingly well try it if you got problems with people stealing your cards you don't need much
zephyros the fallen one Or you can spray the sleeve and not the card itself, although it only affects things to lesser extent. Alternatively, you can just spray all the cards with only 1 kind of mint spray so you can't pretend that you have physical powers.
Defence is weak, cards are sweaty. There's a set card on his field already, Rush recklessly.

Duel disks, problem solved.
Duel disks ruin cards and aren't made for card sleeves.
+Kenneth Liang true I wish they would make something like google glasses which would hook up via Bluetooth to the duel disk and whatever card you place down its recognized by the duel disk. Also it would need to be able to connect to other duel disks and have voice recognition so that when you say your attacking a certain monster it happens ^_^

I feel ya man. I know a guy who got some cards from a 9-10 year old. Some of the cards went through the wash. Some were bent, but the worst ones were... stapled. The picture was coming off so the kid decides to staple it back on, and this is with some super rares.

a trick for the sleeve problem:
use thin sleeves directly on the cards upside-down, then use larger sleeves right-side up. that way, you can only see the front of the card. also, if a bit of water spills on the table, your cards are double-sealed and are safer

Sad to say my old Dark Magician from the Yugi Starter Deck, the front part of the card started to come apart from the back because of the way i used to shuffle when i was little

in x-sabers you get to use 1 card, to destroy 3 back, and then get a +1 on the end phase
In the Tropical North area of Australia where i live, holo cards can curve easily in the humidity and we were able to play them in tournaments
Considering that I accidentally discoloured my copies of Code Talker and Talkback Lancer (colour faded on the back with this one), you clarifying that it's fine if the text is still readable made me give a sigh of relief. Thank you so much sir.

As a judge who visits judge forums and discussions:
-it's OFFICIALLY confirmed you CAN'T use that Urbellum (i know it's stupid, we had a long thread)
-mirror force is ok if you cannot differ it from the other cards in sleeves.
-jack's knight - you are correct
-chevalier 5:15 - yeah, completely illegal
btw there are publicly available tournament policies about this.
Um correction, it's not because ur hands get "sweaty" it's cause the paper from the card absorbs the moisture (aka water) that floats around in the air and old paper begins to yellow as it becomes oxidized and brittle, cause i have tons of old cards that i haven't touched in like 8 years and they have yellowed.

Some judges/tournaments would have the deck inspected before the start of a tournament. Not only to make sure the deck coinside with the ban list, but to also make sure the cards aren't too heavly damaged.
HL is based on the judge within your tournament, whether they allow it or not. Though, for Regionals, YCS, and Konami-hosted event, they usually wouldn't allow it. Supposedly if you put your HL card in your freeze, it will slightly curve.

you could always ask a judge to switch the card to a different sleeve before a duel so you dont know what it is
you cant use different coloured card sleeves for your main deck, extra doesnt matter. and for the number cards, if by number cards you mean xyz number cards then yes, they are allowed to be in your extra deck.
yeah....all the cards in my old decks when i was a kid were yellow or even brown on the edges because i never used sleeves or anything
All altered cards should be allowed as long as there are no bumps or anything feelable on the card and you can read the text etc.
No card art alters are allowed anymore, Konami have changed the rule on altered art cards. Even if it is just a simple sharpie recolour it isn't allowed anymore.
The yellowish color is oxidation of the cardboard. It is like your card is rusting. Go look at an old book, similar result. Moisture from your hand just accelerates this.
what about gold series, some of the cards are very thick and it easy to see and feel where they are in the deck especially gold ghost rares, granted its not the same as being damaged, its not likely they make cards players cant actually play but i think its interesting to point out.

Hrm, that might mean my Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon isn't playable. Not that I'd get anywhere major with it, but I've used it in a few tournaments at anime conventions and at local card shops with no issue, but it has a relatively major crease horizontally that, while not noticeable when shuffling or while it's sitting in the deck, but when it's what you're getting for your draw phase, you kinda know what card you're getting. Maybe I should buy a second one to use for tournaments. Shame, that was the one my friend gave to me when Pyramid of Light came out and he just gave it to me because he knew I loved the Blue-Eyes cards, despite it being a cool new monster that most kids wanted.
Also what about cards which are bent because of their foil? I play some of the foil cards from the Fire King structure deck but they are bent because of the foil makes the card curvy, and if one is on the top of my deck I can tell.
I know how you feel. I had someone on school tear up and damage my x-saber Urebellum and I took the pieces, taped it up when I got home. And still use it to this day. (Even thought someone else gave me another one)

put some heavy books on top of it and leave it like that for a couple days it should fix the bowing of the cars
Thanks to my sister, one of my hyper synchron cards has a chunk taken out of it on the top right hand corner does it still count as playable?

When I was in 3rd grade, & battle city was the newest card set, asshole ran my parasite paraside through the sand, & made it scratchy.
Finally somethinf with real cards in real life. I miss these. I like the look of them when azneyes does them (idk why). I keep watching the consiostany test over and over along with the bls armary otk becasue I can see the cards. It doesn't matter with the others but I like when azneyes does it.
you should jave mentioned how you slam that urbellum on the table at locals when you summon it.
Moral of the video: Don't let AznEyes touch your cards because he'll get them all sweaty.

Clear sleeves are illegal in tournys tho right? cuz some older cards have a different tint to the back of them (like in my skullsworns, my skull servants stick out lol). and another question about the extra deck, do they have to be in the same sleeves as main deck? you never know when that situation comes up where they try to attack stardust and you pull magical hats...
old cards become yellowish because exposure to oxygen in the air makes the molecules less stable, thus giving the cards a darker color.

They should only be playable if you have cover on them the one you cant see the back of the card. Otherwise you kniw exacly what card is coming next because you know thats the damaged card an you can use reload to move it around an stuff or other cards
Opponent shuffles your deck before duell starts -> problem solved
Ebola If you can see where the card is in your deck, then it's technically an unfair advantage no matter who shuffles.
I have number 11 Big Eye and Gottom's Emergency card and X-saber Urbellum, but I did lose all my other X-sabers... So no summoning...

Part of why ultra-pro sleeves absolutely suck, they bend so easily, are super easy to mark, and show the tops of the cards.
i was at walmart and some guy wanted to sell me some cards so i looked at them and i actually would have bought them if he didn't show me the Egyptian god card it was slifer but the serial number was aaaaa988 now that was not the give away it didn't say it couldn't be used in a duel and it didn't say orica card custom print so i just left
lets say i only have 1 firefist bear and visit a tournament and my card gets a big bend from stepping on it or something like that. could i insert a random card in a sleeve so that you the the background and lay my unplayable bear near my deck. so when i draw the reversed card i can use it as the bear?
i mean i own that card, but unfortunatly its not palyable, so i make copycat of it. the broken bear can still be used for card texts etc.

I've always hated that about the structure decks. Why even bother getting it if you can't play the cards in a tournament, even though it's Konami's fault since they decided to make it foil? It's like your only options are to either find common versions or play with an entirely foil deck.

Please read the Policy and Penalty Documents. There is no differentiation between main, side and extra deck in the areas of marked cards penalties, and 'altered' policies. Can you get away with beat to shit extra cards? Sure. But that doesn't mean you will.

What about cards that bend on their own, mostly happens to me with foil cards. I had a super rare ROTA in one of my decks, but it started bending, maybe because of temperature changes (going from outside (ordered it via a webshop and it came with the mail) to room temperature?), I dunno if that was the reason, but I never did anything to the card and I think it would be pretty unfair if it wouldn't be usable cause I always treated the card with care.

well AznEyes, i have a Master Hyperion from a agents deck that ive used and i finally got sleeves, sadly the cards did take some everso lovely "battle damage". however, my master hyperion from that deck took some heavy damage in the cards name, since it has that gold type text. most of the text is scratched out, but you can still clearly see the picture and effect, stats, all of that, only the name is partially scratched out. so, would that card be playable, or would i get called out for it?

if the card is damaged to the point it' 'marked'. can you proxy it? I mean you have the card you just can't get another. I am thinking of the ridicoulsly expensive cards..
my regional i went to a while back allowed no alternate artwork or atleast that is what the head judge said XD

when I was younger, my parents marked the bottoms of my brothers' cards with green and red marker so I would not steal them (which only happened once with a common Red-Eyes that I gave back after the duel (he complained in the middle of the duel and I was planning on giving it back afterwards anyways)), this affected cards from Unlimited LOB/SDY/SDK to TDGS/CSOC... if the mark is not showing out of the sleeve (as I said, most are on the bottom of the card, I only play with the top of the cards to the open end of sleeves (unless it is my double sleeved extra deck (which I know I cannot use in non local shop tourneys), then the first sleeve is backwards), and the ones that are on the tops are pretty much useless cards from The Duelist Genesis or Crossroads of Chaos (most useful one would probably be a Turbo Booster, which I have 12)) should they be playable in tourneys that do not have super hardass judges?

Funny that you say that, one of my Blue Eyes White Dragons lost its top left corner because my dog tried to eat it for some strange reason. Some stars are still visible but the light attribute is gone, i was very sad

I just started collecting cards, got my first deck (Master of Pendulum). The front Card of the sealed pack, Odd-eyes Meteorburst Dragon, came marked on the edges. It looks like it got damaged on the packing process, probably as it is the front Card, so it is not protected by the other cards. Does that happen oftenly? It's a schame to see an ultra rare damaged like this in a sealed pack.
Also, I started playing casualy with my brother, but didn't bought sleeves, and my super rare Wisdow-eye Magician got a damaged Edge, just a little dent, probably from the constant shuffle. Will sleeves prevent that from happening? Are cheap Transparent sleeves enough just to protect them while playing ? ( I don't play at tournaments, so I don't see any reason tô buy colored ones, unless it protects more)

Damaged cards out of the box happens sometimes sadly. I have a super rare ninja, which mostly came slightly bent due to the way it was packaged. It doesn't happen by default though and at some stores you can even get an undamaged copy or new booster if you just pulled it from a booster.
Dents and scratches are less likely to happen with any kind of protection, but from what I've seen the colored sleeves in general offer better protection against bending and deeper dents, but clear sleeves already offer much better protection against sweaty hands, dirt and sharp objects.
