  • Recently, VACC’s MotorTech Technical Advisory Service had five calls in one day concerning the crankshaft position sensor brackets on Ford Ranger, Transit and Mazda BT50. The reasons for the calls vary, however the solution is the same.
The crankshaft position sensor is located above the flywheel on the right-hand side of the engine. The flywheel or drive plate has a tone wheel built in which induces a signal into the sensor which is then used by the ECU. The sensor is fitted into a bracket which is bolted to the rear face of the cylinder block, and this is where the trouble starts for the following vehicles.
    2011 - 2018 Ford Ranger
    2006 - 2018 Ford Transit
    2012 - 2016 Land Rover Defender
    2011 - 2018 Mazda BT50
