    Price per part ratio is the least of this set's problems. Even if it had like 800 pieces to match the really high price, it won't save it because the set is so very small compared to the many sets that hover in this price range.
    And it may also be handicapped further due to the fact that there's the Retro Camera in the Creator 3-in-1 range. Yes that set is smaller and isn't licensed, but it is four times cheaper, which cannot be ignored.

    When prices were first jacked up, I was pretty miffed. I couldn’t even afford sets I had been saving years for because of the increase. I was essentially priced out of the big sets like the Daily Bugle; however, I rather like now that Lego sets are high priced for early adopters, soon go on 20% discount (mostly at big box stores) and can eventually be found for over 40% off. Sets that do not get this massive discount are obviously popular enough that the price is “justifiable” from the perceived value of the buyer.
    If I ever get this, I’ll be watching for a discount that puts it around $50 (like Luke’s helmet).

    Few stickers or none at all? ✅
    Few QC issues if none at all? ✅
    Reasonable size with features that makes for a small, simple, yet striking display piece? ✅
    Easy to pack away in the event of moving? ✅
    The only thing this set doesn't tick is value for money, but even then this set ticks more boxes than the OE could.
    Even though I'm more of a train fan than I am photography nerd, this might actually be a day one purchase.
    I also love that the team figured out a way to make the button work unlike the original submission, which relied on a Technic gear.
    I feel as though sets like this are kind of the hallmark of what most Ideas sets should be, taking the submission and improving upon it where possible while keeping the core concept and identity resembling the original.
    Thank you for the review as always Tiago, this set is definitely the redemption Lego Ideas needed after the OE.

      You can't take the real thing apart and turn it into something else!
      In the case of both the globe and typewriter you could even make a vehicle as both come with wheels (paper roller on typewriter, 4 inside as counterweights on globe)

    Awesome review as always and merry christmas,and wishes for a happy new year! 🎄 Now about the price tag you mentioned.I cannot agree more that this price is expensive for what it is and the pieces that counts,but we should learn by now that when it comes to licenses the price goes pretty high.Smaller sets with licensing that should go for 20 goes up 30 to 35 usually! Though i do like and respect the work in this i would prefer however to go buy a normal polaroid instead this one though.I don't know exactly what audience lego chasing with this kind of set though! 🤔

    the only, and i mean only thing that can justify the price a tiny bit more might be the building experience.
    what would you rate it /10? just curious, because if the building experience is not great too, then i don’t really know what LEGO was thinking
    either way, really high price. like you said, if you want to buy it, wait for a discount

    Say this with me a few times: studs are fine. Studs are what makes LEGO, LEGO. Stop hating on studs, tiles have their use but shouldn’t be used everywhere. It’s a LEGO toy

    • @Greenhawk4
      @Greenhawk4 Před 7 měsíci

      you realize its smooth on every other part of it and so it should be smooth there to match and because like the real camera its smooth and not studded.

    This reminds me of the instant cameras my family used in the early-2000s, when I was a kid. I don't believe we had anything like this at the time but we used instant cameras that we'll get printed at a shop later until phone cameras actually got good enough to use.
    I would probably get this set as a nod to my early photography days, but also that function is really cool to replicate in the Lego model.

    Awesome set, I love cameras and lego but...
    One big reason I was looking forward to this was since it has 516 pieces, it would probably be around $50, and therefore pretty affordable
    Why is it $80? That's overpriced! It should be $50, at most $60.
    C'mon Lego, please stop charging ridiculously overpriced prices on some stuff for no apparent reason. I think I speak for most Lego fans that prices on some Lego sets make no sense, they are way too much. The best example is the hoopty set $90 for 420 pieces? It should cost half the price! There are unfortunately many more examples of sets that are $10, $20, or more over what makes sense. Enough is enough

    Love the engineering but like the Pac Man set and Typewriter kit why bother.
    You can get a cheaper REAL working version of a vintage typewriter like the one Lego makes.
    You can get a cheaper REAL working Pac-Man game with a cabinet almost exactly the same size of the Lego one. And with more actual games to play.
    And with this one, you can get a used vintage Polaroid or even a new re-issued one, cheaper, that actually takes pictures, is fun to use and looks great on display.
    Great to show off what Lego designers can do, and it's fun to see but a waste of money.

    • @Greenhawk4

      with lego its not about having the real thing or functionality you seem to forget the point of legos

    • @ShortRound42
      @ShortRound42 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@Greenhawk4 Actually you don’t know the point of LEGO.
      Even LEGO designers talk about this.
      LEGO is not to be a kit making product. You make the set, but it’s to be taken apart and make something else. And then again, taken apart and make another moc and so on.
      So with these ‘real life’ products it’s a waste of money since you can get the real functioning one a lot cheaper, since the point of LEGO is to keep altering, changing and redesigning using your imagination.

    • @Greenhawk4
      @Greenhawk4 Před 7 měsíci

      @@ShortRound42 I obviously know but what I was meaning is that when you buy the Lego instead of the real thing it’s because you aren’t just getting it for that thing or for functionality in the first place. You get the Lego version for the joy of putting it together and taking it apart and making other things like you said. Also it’s only more expensive than the real thing because of the picture prints.

    Every time I watch a Lego video the comments are full of ppl complaining about prices, quality, model designs. There is no pleasing this fanbase. Hiding sets until it goes on sale or until you have enough is cringe and trying to win the system on blind packs by feeling on them or weighing them is even worse. Hopefully my algorithm fixes itself

    If I wanted a non-functioning example of an iconic product purely for display purposes, I'd personally just buy the real thing. There's one on eBay right now for $80, and a NOS boxed one for $90. But I think I'll save my $$ for the Ornithopter--which I could never own or operate in real life.
