    I ended up buying two of them at $40 each from my LGS. Now I have 4x of everything that I wanted and the Sword + Elspeth are good value for future trades. I'm fine with the bulk. I removed Elspeth, but the sword sideboard, put 3x Sorin, 3x Godless Shrine, and 2x Hero of Bladehold mainboard. It's not Tier 1. But it's a fun deck to play, and the money I spent on the premade plus my upgrades (not including cards I already pulled) was less than $150. Not a bad price for what the deck is.

    dang, this is a surprisingly strong deck! I'd argue among other strong budget tier 2 decks one could make for less that mono green infect could be counted among them based on stats my friend in england feeds me from his store--the scythe and teacup--but barring that and the options you mentioned, this is very damn good. It almost makes me want to buy it.

    I decided to play uw control without the snapcasters. It's still affordable. The majour cards that cost money is your playset of paths. There was one deck that was running a one of snapcaster and vendilion clique so you can get your opponent to side in cards that won't be very relevant. After those you just need your cryptics and your land base and your good to go.

    the deck is amazing for only 75$, with only 2 disappointments imo:
    -using kataki, war's wage as affinity/artifact sideboard over stoney silence, which is generally better than kataki
    -no shocks lands, yet theres 4 hideaway lands, and even a vault of the archangel
    over all I think this deck is great for getting into modern, and even competitive wise, it can not only hold its own pretty well, but some of the cards in it can be used to make other awesome modern decks (namely path to exile, but still)

      It is, but the Thoughtseizes, Godless Shrines, and Auriok Champions help it out immensely. Luckily, two of those are in Standard at the moment and very easy to trade for, if you don't already own them.

    • @Rochardzorz
      @Rochardzorz Před 10 lety

      Tolarian Community College Thoughtseize and Godless Shrines are no-brainers but why is Auriok Champion so much better? Double-white cost and it's still a 1/1 with a "may" trigger instead of just a life gain trigger. Where can I use the pro red/pro black? I have little to no experience of modern so I'm legitimately curious.

    • @TolarianCommunityCollege
      @TolarianCommunityCollege  Před 10 lety +5

      The extra white is worth it for the protection. Protection from red means no bolts, no shocks, no magma jets, no nothing. Protection from black means no doomblade, no murder, no whatever. You're safe from so much with protection from both black AND red.

    Before watching: Yes.
    The value of most of the cards was more than $80 last time I checked, and that's not including a lot of the commons and some of the sideboard cards.
    Combined with the fact that there are also sleeves (horrible ones, but still), a collectable die and it all comes in a pretty neat box that can be used to hold another deck, I'm positive it's worth it.
    EDIT: Pretty much nailed it.

    The only problem I have with this deck is that they put check lands in a deck with 2 city of brass and 4 painlands. It would have been much smarter to trade those out for godless shrine instead to make the check lands actually decent. It's just that the hardest part about modern is your mana base and this is the type of deck where you can't risk playing a land tapped because you're missing a basic or shock. Otherwise this deck is amazing in my opinion.

    Just picked one of these up on Amazon for like $100. Currently, with the inquisitions skyrocketing to 25$ each, the deck is currently somewhere between 150$ and 190$ in value, give or take a few depending on what sources you use to price your cards. With the inquisitions at 25 each, making 50 dollars of the deck, and the sword, 3 paths, relics at 5 each, elspeth, and other cards, anybody who bought this at MSRP should be jumping for joy right now at the amount of value they got.

    In Brazil theres some places that are selling this deck for around 120 U$ to 150 U$. Because the stores that usually sell dont convert the price equally. Even after adding the cost of shipping plus taxes plus the profit. They sell for almost the prices of the cards. Its sad, i really wanted to buy for a honest prize, but i guess i'll buy a Flooded Strand instead.

    2:30 You left out the horror that is Infect. My G/U Infect is valued at around $50 and has won many local tournaments.
