Here is an extended remix of much of the music produced for the 1988-1994 CBS version of the U.S. game show "The Family Feud" hosted by Ray Combs. This music is by Score Productions.
I love the fact that it has the fiddle part from the opening theme. I would love to have the original opening theme with the fiddle. Even the new version of the show doesn't have it
I grew up with the Ray Combs version of Family Feud from the late 80's to the mid 1990's (1988 to 1994). I loved Richard Dawson, but Ray Combs was great too soon. He died in 1996.
This was the work of the great Walt Levinsky. Walt was a formally trained clarinet player later to be joined by the sax and flute. As a big band & orchestra musician primarily, he definitely had a prominent talent for bluegrass as demonstrated here!!
Yes this is definitely more "big band" style I would say. Bluegrass is more small 4 or 5 piece groups....it was definitely the rock n roll of the 19th century! I certainly didn't know that about Walt Levinsky and I had no idea he wrote this. The whole time I thought it was a John Labarbara composition lol 😆 I haven't been able to find that much about him. Did Walt ever write for Buddy Rich or anybody like that?

Hey guys, here's a question for all of you Now....I wonder how Ray Combs would've reacted if he gave away something like $160,000 in the Tournament of Champions and perhaps $50,000 in Fast Money?
Well guys, just so ya know, when Ray Combs hosted Family Feud, The Cosby Show was still the #1 show on Prime Time TV and during his 2nd year, Cosby and Roseanne were tied at #1 with CBS still in 3rd Place, during his 3rd year, Cheers became the #1 show on Prime Time and during his final 3 years on Feud, 60 Minutes became the #1 show on Prime Time TV and put CBS back on TOP and 60 minutes had the following people during Combs' time on Feud the late Mike Wallace, the late Morley Safer, the late Harry Reasoner, the late Ed Bradley, the late Andy Rooney, Steve Kroft and Meredith Vieira both from West 57th and Lesley Stahl CBS also had Garfield and Friends and abc still had The Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show while Full House was still going strong, plus, during the time Combs was still hosting Feud, Paramount Television gave us The NEW Mission: Impossible on abc, The Original Arsenio Hall Show, Aresnio Hall's Party Machine w/Nia Peeples of Fame and Walker Texas Ranger and Star Trek: The Next Generation (the 1st Season was so crappy, but thankfully, the writers changed it and made it AWESOME) and also, during Combs' entire run on Feud, Murder, She Wrote was still Prime Time's #1 Drama
T-Bone Hubbard Not only did Richard Dawson win a daytime Emmy in 1978, but he was also the host of the ceremony on ABC. He was definitely riding high with success that year, even though that was the same year Dawson left Match Game after 5 years.
also, here are some more facts: During Combs' Final Year on Family Feud, abc's Home Improvement and NBC's Seinfeld became THE 2 Highest Rated Comedies of the Season and it FINALLY beat Roseanne and Grace Under Fire a series from the Producers of The Cosby Show, A Different World and Roseanne became THE #1 NEW Comedy of the Season I personally like Grace Under Fire over Roseanne ANYDAY Plus, we saw the debut of Hanna Barbera & Turner's 2 Stupid Dogs Featuring Super Secret Secret Squirrel and SWAT KATS
T-Bone Hubbard Also in the year leading to the end of the CBS daytime run of Family Feud in 1993, “Cheers” and A Different World” ended its run on NBC. David Letterman’s “The Late Show” moved from NBC to CBS. Also, “Santa Barbara” ended its 9 year run on NBC daytime to be replaced by “Scattergories”and a revised “Scrabble.”
@@a.b.s_productions and also, 1993 was also the end of Quantum Leap on NBC as well as the late Judge Wapner's 12 year reign as the Judge of The People's Court and when Combs returned to Feud for a 6th Season on syndication, we were introduced to Ricki Lake, Living Single and Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers and also, American Gladiators also went through a change and also, in the NFL, Joe Montana and the San Francisco 49ers RULED the NFL in 1988 and 1989 Seasons during his last 4 seasons, Jim Kelly and the Buffalo Bills RULED the AFC in the NFL, but lost out 4 years in a row to the NFC East in the Super Bowl Lost out to Bill Belichick's Defense of the New York GIANTS, the following year to Mark Rypien and the Washington Redskins and the final 2 years to Jimmy Johnson's Dallas Cowboys lead by Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith (who appeared on Season 4 of Celebrity Family Feud w/Steve Harvey) and Michael Irvin and in the NBA, during the final 2 years on CBS, it was all about the Bad Boys known as the Detroit Pistons lad by Isiah Thomas, Bill Laimbeer, Dennis Rodman, John Salley, Mark Agguire and Joe Dumars and during Combs' Final 4 years on Feud, the NBC moved to NBC where it was all about Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and the Chicago Bulls and the 93/94 Season saw Hakeem Olajuwon and Patrick Ewing battle for the NBA Title in 1994 in a 7 Game Series and the Houston Rockets which also featured Kenny "The Jet" Smith and Robert Horry won against the New York Knicks and when Dawson returned to the show, The Dream won win again, this time with Clyde Drexler joining the team and they SWEPT Shaquille O'Neal, Penny Hardaway and the Orlando Magic in 1995
