    That has to be a Greek accent! I've heard enough of them growing up, mother, grandparents, uncles, cousins, etc. Nice amp! Nice review. Bit pricey for some of us!

    Has anybody found any documentation that these new designs still use MOSFET? on the yamaha site, I can no longer see references to MOSFET except on the $15k 5000 amplifier but not these new A-Sx200 models.

    It would want to be a lot better than the AS1100. It was a very fussy amp to get sounding right. The sound just never matched the build quality. I tried over time and several sets of speakers to get it to sound like an amp of this quality should but ended up having to sell it in frustration. The positives were that it had that mosfet sound and was quite organic.
    The real cruncher came when I compared it to a cheap Denon receiver and the receiver out performed it in imaging, soundstaging and transparency and the speakers weren't even in the ideal spot at the time. I'm not trying to say Denon is better than Yamaha, it's just my experience. I currently have an RXZ11 and it is very good on music in pure direct as compared to the 1100. The 2200 may be a lot better than the 1100 so I'm not saying the 2200 isn't a good amp. Good luck with your new kit and enjoy the music.

      The 1100 should be a good amp, nearly identical to the 2100. Where did you buy it and how much did you pay for it? Could it be a Chinese clone? You had to be missing something. Maybe speaker connected out of phase or room acoustics. For something like this, you should ask for help in setting up if you can't figure it out on your own. You could have even called Yamaha for help. Even the most experienced people can miss something in set-up.

    • @systemawarrior
      @systemawarrior Před 4 lety

      @@kurtzcol thank you for your eloquent reply. I don't know what your experience is with hifi so I won't judge but I had the 1100 for about 8 months and tried cables and speakers and placement and as I said it was a very fussy amp in my case to get sounding the way I thought it should. I really liked the build quality and wanted to keep it which is why I persevered so long. Maybe I was expecting to much of a 2500 dollar amp. My previous gear has been electrostats, magneplanar 1.6, Denon poas10 mo noblocks, Nad C272, B&W, Polk LSI15 etc and I have heard my fair share of high end sound.
      So this is my experience with the 1100 in comparison to other gear I've heard in the past 35 years.

    I do not recommend. My A-s 501 with less than 3 years of use goes for assistance to be repaired. Some components inside are of doubtful quality, they are not of Japanese manufacture due to their fragility. They burn easily. I do not recommend buying Yamaha as the term "OPEN BOX" may have been a piece of equipment that was under warranty and returned to the store to be sold a little cheaper. Yamaha's dishonest Technique so as not to lose money and mislead the consumer.

      @@perfectstranger1769 My Yamaha A-s501 returned from repair free of charge. I noticed a big difference in the sound 1000% better. I chose to buy an amplifier while it was not coming from the repair. I chose Yamaha, the A-s701 was paid and Yamaha Europe (UK) has not yet been delivered because it is not silver. This from Covid is delaying production. They are being assembled in Malaysia, perhaps because there are many complaints, they must be making improvements to the equipment. I hope to have more luck when I receive.
