  • On a chilly day back in April I visited the annual 'Glastonbury Medieval Fair.' held in the grounds of Glastonbury Abbey.
Back at home it inspired me to try my hand at some medieval style artwork.
The hare in the video will be available to buy in my next shop update. (tbc)
The wonderful Bartman jug in the video that I bought at the fair was made by Trinity Court Pottery. www.trinitycou...

Lovely to see Glastonbury again. I was born nearby and spent my early adulthood there 😊 I love the bearded man jug called Bartsmann krug here in Germany and was manufactured in the 16th and 17th centuries in the Cologne region of West Germany. There are also reproductions and I have a small collection of them. Your medieval hare is delightful. Thank you for another lovely video ❤

Ah it's a lovely place isn't it. Not too far from me as I'm in the next county, so do go a few times a year normally. They are wonderful old jugs aren't they. I would love to find a genuine one at a car boot sale or something. Although i don't think there is much chance of that... haha
Trinity Potteries do a good job with replicas at affordable prices though, so I'm more than happy.🙂 Thanks for watching x

The old bartman/bellarmine jugs are lovely arent they. I found a piece of pottery here in the garden a few years back which led to my painting 'The Bee's Spell' which features one of the jugs. There is a video of it if, you haven't watched already, do go and see. I would love to do some medieval inspired ones to be printed at some point. That was the time when England was catholic. Not many people are aware but it was the catholic monks that took care of society, looking after the sick and the poor, organizing markets snd teaching people how to buy and sell. This all ended with the king with seven wives.

The music at 5.28 is actually a clip of the singing I heard at the medieval fair.
