- In Budapest, there’s more to cheers than just wine and beer. In the city, three drinks reign supreme: palinka, unicum and soda water. These three staple beverages have a long, storied history in Hungary. Palinka, known as “firewater,” is not a drink for the faint of heart, boasting an alcohol content between 40 and 50 percent. Next up, the bitter tasting unicum is a concoction created using 40 different herbs as per a centuries-old family recipe. Finally, the stalwart soda water, now found in every bar, restaurant and café, is a vital part of Budapest’s history and culture. Yes. I tried several Palinka when I visited Budapest and some are quite delicious. Also, Hungary has a significant winemaking history (more than just Tokaj) so be sure to drink some delicious wine when in Budapest.
And soda goes with wine much better than on its own.

I have a friend who is Hungarian and I asked him what’s it like to drink palinka? He asked me if I drink alcohol at all. I told him no (I don’t like the taste of alcoholic drinks). So he told me “if you want to know what drinking acid feels like, drink pálinka.

You get an even shittier tasting horse-kick drink than unicum itself, you'll puke your guts out and will have an infernal hangover the next day.
CaeserOct We do mix wine and soda water together, and it's called "fröccs", but I don't think mixing all the 3 together is a good idea :D
