    Somebody in the Discord made a good point about me (accidentally) excluding the FO32U2 from the conclusion: At $1099, its a VERY attractive way to get into this format. If you've concluded that DP2.1 isn't a big deal to you, its an easy W versus the PG32UCDM at $200 cheaper.

      DSC causes issues with multi monitor setup at least with Nvidia GPU, look it up.
      It's just not worth it buying expensive monitors like these with no DP2.1 unless you swap monitors every year, you will regret it when you upgrade your GPU next time.

      SRY no its not few problems i found thus i skipped this- the 480 is only stable w certain games only and the color gamit needs help compare to Asus . Also some functions make other options meh at best. ie the response time. Hardware unboxed confluded 1.4 and 2.1 was not a big diference but unless we have a true 2.1 this is just a perfect example of whatto do and what not to do .

      The compression and decompression is done in hardware. In a good implementation it adds latency equal to the time it takes your monitor to scan out one line of pixels. This is often on the order of about 0.000001 ms or so depending on the specific monitor. I don't think even the sweatiest esports gamer can claim that matters.

Ended up having to sell the 4090 and "downgrade" to a 7900 XTX...but at least I have all 3 monitors working, at *4k* and running at a synchronized 165Hz (although not the 240Hz these monitors are capable of).

    • @imadecoy.
      @imadecoy. Před 2 měsíci +1

      So the way it works is Nvidia GPUs have 4 display heads, as soon as you hit a certain pixel rate (a bit more than 4K 120 Hz), the GPU has to combine two of those heads to drive a single display. This is also the point where DSR/DLDSR and stuff stop working. Roughly at the point where you need DSC. So you ran out of display heads on the first two monitors. It would be possible to run them all with a 4090 at 4K 120 Hz with DSC off though. Radeon has an advantage in the display engine department at the moment.

    • @eagletrippin
      @eagletrippin Před 2 měsíci +2

      @@imadecoy. You are correct, sir! This is what I learned over the past 3 months over 3 different models of monitors. The issue with these FO32U2P monitors, however, is that you cannot disable DSC and thus it was impossible to get them to work with the 4090, under any circumstance/scenario/settings configuration.
      The first monitors I had were Samsung Neo G8's, and the only way I could get all 3 to work was if I lowered the resolution or refresh rates...but they still worked! These Gigabyte monitors though, I could set all 3 to 1280x720 at 60Hz, and *still* could not get them to work! That said, my monitors I had before these -- MSI 4K 144Hz IPS monitors -- **DID** work, much more seamlessly (but not without a ton of issues themselves).
      So I think these 3 monitors used together -- unlike some other monitors -- use up all 4 "heads" in just TWO monitors alone, regardless of how low you set the settings.😕Sucked having to get rid of my 4090, but I'm quite happy with the 7900 XTX :)

    Bad seed, comp gamer here, but old head. I just ordered a 360hz zowie, but now second guessing myself over OLED. What is your opinion? • @badseedtech
      @badseedtech  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Biggest thing is what you’re coming from prior to the upgrade. The Zowie is gonna win in motion clarity by using DyAc, provided you can hit a consistent locked 360fps. You’ll have to do some fiddling to get the overdrive dialed in, but thats easy enough. And it’ll likely last years upon years with no risk of burn in.
      OLED is gonna give you a way better picture quality, color saturation, contrast etc and will be more versatile if you find yourself playing other stuff besides just comp fps. It has has way lower g2g times. Motion blur will only be marginally worse at 360hz. And you have to consider what happens after 3 years when your burn in warranty expires. If the second option sounds better, I would highly recommend the Alienware AW2725DF and thats how I would personally go if I was making this call for myself.

    Anyone who hates DSC is full of it. They’ll quickly hate it less when they start getting dropouts due to shitty DP cables which are going to have to be very robust to handle a full 80 GBps signal. Right now the top length is 1.2m for a full cable. On top of that I guarantee that most if not all these anti-DSC could not tell if they were using DSC or lossless. DSC offers so much flexibility and is a pretty significant advancement in display tech. On my 4090 hooked up to my 4K/240 Hz Alienware QD-OLED the visual benefits I get from DSC are breathtaking. Yes, there are some minor dropouts when switching displays and during driver initialization, but they never happen during normal use or most importantly during gaming. People see the word “compression” and automatically think shitty quality without seeing for themselves.
