Great video. Having a simple sliding shelf is perfect. Adding some paste wax to the bottom will also make it slide real easy.

just completed the first one you did and by far my favorite. I moved the scrap bin to the middle shelf and was able to use the bottom for more storage that is always in great demand. Thanks for the update. My next project is going to be your assembly table/work bench.

I could see this easily built stand being the most popular build especially among us that have limited space. Excellent!

I agree. But I'm curious with a shop as massive as yours why you (April) feel you still need a portable, wing-based mitre stand? The beauty of such a shop is that you can have a dedicated mitre saw station complete with adjustable stop blocks and built in tape measure not prone to wandering. A Master Carpenter friend of mine has just such a station. Now that I have the blessing of being able to afford a custom shop build I planned on having a dedicated, stationary mitre station. Pray, tell your logic for the mobility factor. If the reason is just to create content for the small/temporary shop folks that’s cool too, but it seems like a “real shop” necessitates permanent workstations and deliberate world flow without setup and tear down. That was the bane of my existence in my previous two car garage “shop.” Which never saw a parked car in the past 15 years.

I just bought my very first miter saw yesterday. Yes it's a sliding miter saw with 10" Saw blade.
I feel really blessed after watching your video, since I already make my own miter saw station drawing and doesn't even notice about the sliding and the miter angle problem.
Now my homework is to Remeasuring, redrawing just to make sure there is no problem will be happening tomorrow on the build process.
    Thank you so much.

Hey April, Small shop with big DeWalt 12" compound sliding mitre saw. No room on my workbench so was using the heavy duty mitre saw stand that was made for the saw. Had to use outside and was very heavy and time consuming to set up. Was concerned if your plywood rolling stand would support the weight. Great news, it works perfect ! Bought your plans and with a few modifications due to the size of my mitre saw, ended up being a very easy and quick build. I now have space to utilize my mitre saw inside my small shop. The folding wings gives the stand a small footprint that I needed. Your Mobile Mitre Saw Stand works FANTASTIC !

I purchased the plans and built it this past weekend. Instead of the cut off box I built two drawers on full extension slides. I wasn't comfortable relying solely on the pocket screws to hold the weight of the saw so I also used 3 dowels on each side to lend extra support. I need to finish up the drawer fronts this week to wrap it up. I had to make mine about 5 inches wider to accommodate my 12" compound slider. I like it and now have two more drawers to fill up with tools!

Started yesterday with some left over 3/4 red oak plywood. Only thing that stopped us from finishing yesterday was we needed the back piece. So with a couple of minor alterations to your plans we got it complete today and 100% fully functional. We have a 12" Dewalt miter saw, so its heavy. We added 2x4 supports along the edges of the saw tray. Still not sure how but one fold out tray no mater what I did, it swings out about 3/16s low at the meeting point once we started setting up plum. Still have a few extras we plan on putting on it but was using it this after noon. Thanks for the easy to understand plans.

  • @nattodatto

I made mine this weekend, with a few steps to tidy up. On my one, the stop for the supporting arm makes the top bit stick out to the side because I used a fairly wide offcut. I'm planning to cut out a gap in the supporting arm so that the top sits flush with the supporting arm when it's down.

I love it! I’m definitely going to build a similar one for myself...once I shovel a path out to my garage! I’m thinking if I leave out the scrap box on the bottom I can use it to store my saw when I’m not using it and cut an insert for the top so it can double as a rolling workbench when I don’t need the saw.

I've been thinking about a similar plan for a while now. This video helped clear up some of plan ideas. I was thinking of putting a back on for additional side to side structural support and because I have a very small shop space I was actually thinking of putting the miter saw on a plywood tray that can be pulled out and possibly swapped with a small table saw (also on a tray) just at a lower level so the work surfaces are the same height. then adding a flip up back support for use as an out feed table. This gives me lots of ideas. Thanks for the video!

Nice work! It looks like a take on the Woodsmith Shop plans, but with a wider wings. I kinda like the wider wings on yours. The great thing about these is you can go to town with features such as rails, clamps, stops, etc., or keep it simple. I saw one recently where the person who built it actually built wings that doubled as storage boxes. It's really only limited by one's creativity, and you definitely have that in spades. I've been designing one that uses stock unfinished red oak kitchen cabinet boxes. Thanks for sharing and inspiring us all.

Went searching for an idea hoping to find one like yours as I will be commencing a little remodel project, with long trim boards, so wanted a portable stand for a soon-to-be-delivered new miter saw (everything in my shop is also on wheels, even my scrap bins), but I'll be temporarily locating this in a bedroom, so also needed to be light enough to carry up a couple flights of stairs.

  • @imacessnaflyer
    @imacessnaflyer Před 4 lety

First let me say that you have great videos and plans. You do a fantastic job of showing your design/build process along with fails and successes. I decided to tackle the miter saw stand project. I made a big Newbie mistake and assumed that miter saw widths and depths were kind of standard. I bought the plans, followed them and the video, and built the stand. I even adjusted the top shelf height from 3 1/2" to 3 3/4" to match my deck height. I unboxed my new Bosch 12" saw and went to install it on the cart … only to find out that it's footprint is way larger than the opening on top of the stand. Had there been more references given to the saw measurements than just the deck height adjustment, I might not had to buy two more sheets of plywood and rebuild. Please keep up the videos, plans, and projects!

I like it! Wish I’d seen yours before I built mine, but I searched mobile mitre saw tables and got you. I was looking for a good way to add wings to mine and I love your way of doing it!
