@Selanie Sanchez Floaties zip up the back to stop kids taking them off. If it's not put on correctly and not fitted to the child's size, then it's useless.
@@TM-tx9ct what do you mean zip up? I'm talking about the inflatable plastic thing that goes around the waist that you just pull up. Sometimes has animal heads on them for the kids to hold unto.
He did good. Its important to take ur baby to the edge of being incredibly uncomfortable. They rebound quickly being children and learn how to deal with stress. He’s probably so tired and hungry but it’s going to be the best food and the best sleep
Sometimes, the important things in life are the hardest to do. It's not easy to watch your kid getting scared, but these skills could save his life one day. You are an amazing father.
While that is true, it is also true that one needs to take into consideration the age, ability and good understanding of the health regarding their children, not all children can make through water at a tender age.
@Seeker725 exactly why he's teaching him, what if he falls in while nobody is around. This gives him a better chance at survival vs his dad coddling him and him falling in with certain death. It's never to early to teach your kids safety and survival skills.
@@Seeker7257 It is so necessary for this kid to learn it as early as possible. If this is their house with a pool then it’s even more necessary. Natural bodies of water you aren’t at every single day, but a backyard pool at your own home kills more children a year than you’d think. If the kid plays in the backyard then there is always the possibility of him ending up in the pool and it’s so necessary to teach them young for that scenario.
@@Superbro354 It is sometimes too early, that is why I have commented taking into consideration the tender nature of children in developing years. Best to take no risk than to take some in the name of safety or life saving measures when the human might be susceptible to danger.
As a swim instructor, I can say this guy does a wonderful job of changing his tone of voice! You can see how the little guy trusts him and knows that he’s right there the whole time.
See videos like this makes me like wow humans are interesting like what makes a small child evaluate the situation and say okay I guess like it’s crazy like as we get older we research ask questions but as a child it’s like see and analyze as it’s happening
The fact he can carry on whilst being terrified is fucking amazing, most adults can’t even do that. That’s some crazy good parenting right there, you can tell he’s gonna do amazing things in his life
True courage right there. He said "last one" meaning the little guy has done it a few time before. You can see the fear in his face when he was getting tired. But he voluntarily jumped in. Great job to both of them.
@Dil7 you are absolutely right. I did neglect to mention he was reaching for his father's arms. But the reason I chose not to bring it up was because this wasn't the first time he has done it. Meaning the first few time he may have felt betrayed when they didn't catch him. Yet he still jumped. He hesitated the second attempt. So he was aware of what was happening. And still continued. Fear was swelling his face, meaning he wasn't yet reached the confidence level but still, the brave little lad jumped.
In Jamaica they throw you in and say swim. My cousin did this to us at the local river it was so scary and he was not this understanding! My friend at the time literally peeed in her pants we saw the pee coming down before she hit the water. This sweet baby is brave .the best and most necessary lesson.
my mom never learned how to swim, but she made sure that my brothers and i all got swim lessons when we were young. i was once the scared little kid that could never let go of the wall, and while i wasnt as great of a listener as your kid is, once it all clicked i fell in love with swimming and ended up becoming an exceptional swimmer. im definitely not as good now as an adult since im out of practice, but those basic skills never go away, just like riding a bike. thank you for working hard to teach your kid important life skills.
Sadly not all kids can keep this muscle memory though even throughout adulthood...if a kid looks uncomfortable doing something they don't want to do they should be left alone

In America we have that problem. So yes, it’s important to reach our kids gun safety. We all have them so it’s important for us to reach them how to be safe around them. What a good age to learn that you CAN push through difficut things, and conquer your fears. If we all learned those lessons in such a positive way when we were young, how much easier would life have been?
That is way more than it seems, that child is learning to fight for himself not just how to swim and not drown, definitely something that will be useful for him in life
@@KrispyDev i'd say being able to grow trust with an instructor is almost better than with your father, it gives you an outer family experience with trust. it gives you the POV of being able to understand people from their shoes and such. who cares if it's not his son, not everything has to be completely family oriented.
While taking a CPR class, the instructor said something that really stuck in my head. "It's better to do compressions too hard than not hard enough. A person can survive broken ribs but you can't bring them back from the dead.". I have two little kids and every time the cough cuz something goes down the wrong pipe, I think about that saying. Luckily I've never had to do CPR on either of my kids but if I do, I won't be scared to break ribs.
Imagine being so materialistic you think this is his father xDD you clearly grew up without one if you actually think this is the kids father xDD absolute tools if you think this is the dad.. does it hurt being stupid?
I hope you wont be mad at your man for being the responsible one. We rely to much on floaties; my son had close call. I took him out of water soon enough but it shook me. Then realised how important are basic swimming skills. Been doing "swimming lessons" with my babies but they were not serious enough.
He's torturing a 4 year old baby! Is the child enjoying it? Think! If you got a pool with babies around, you must guard the child or put the pool of bounds! This is torture!
I started swimming lessons when I was 2. Swimming is insanely important to learn and it helps to learn from such a young age, because by the time I was in my teens, I was already learning In some very advanced stages.
I guess you can learn IT without being difficult to watch. Learn it with fun will be much more positiv for the child, than Bring him in this "do or die" Situation.
Same. Sorry but my protective instinct kicked in immediately as he screamed. Instincts dont lie, it was BS.I dont want to be that guy, but learning swiming without do or die pressure could be more fun and less traumatic. I had a teacher, she would even put our heads under water, scream at us, force us to do such things. Me and my friends never liked swimming, even years later. Our buddy here clearly has zero fun and is afraid to drown. I am a friend of right parenting, but that doesnt seem right to me.
Damn yall got helped? It wasnt an option for me cause they would drop me straight into the pool initially and I had to struggle tryna float. Could they go the easier route? Yes. But I'm always greatful for them to let me experienced the struggle of not knowing how to swim. After that its easy work and I got 3 gold medals during my highschool Edit: Asian parenting hits different, tough love is the best
@@crimson7854 I am asian too. And no, I am not against tough parenting, maybe my comment was a little bit too much, the dad handled it well. Its just hard too watch when you experienced certain things, my swimming instructor in school was a female psychopath. She hit the children, put their head under the water just for fun and so on. Tough love is good, but some parents are only tough without any love. The dad here is not such a case.
He didn’t even trust his father, When the father reached his hand out he thought he would hold him but the father lat go and then the boy didn’t even try to go near his father after that.
@@high_wave6483 Yes the boy expected to grab his fathers or instructors hand, but if you watch, as he did it he was already spinning himself around to float as seen the last time. So, my prediction is that the kid expected the father or instructor to stay right at his head, but that last time they wanted the kid to do it on their own so they don't have to rely on that persons help. So no the kid does trust his father and the reason the kid "didn't want to go near him" was because he was probably taught to go to the other side and get himself up. 🙃😆
This kid doesn't trust his father at all, what are you talking about? Just watch his body language. He's scared of his father. He doesn't smile at him, he doesn't like when his father touches, him, he tries to move away from is father twice...
The younger they learn the better. I personaly almost drowned when i was really young. These skills are important not only to learn swimming but in case they fall in. Also the earlier they learn. The better they will be

@@moefoe_rl yes it can bro, its how u learn, so stfu because it works and his body isn't harmed, if something serious starts to happen the dad is right there.
As a parent, sometimes it's hard to make our kids struggle a bit. But when they struggle with the right support, they flourish. Good job, now you know that if there was ever a situation where he is by himself, he would be ok.
He is still going to drown if hes all by himself. Buuuuuuuuuut it gives a parental figure that much longer to reach him and pull him out. And thus saving his life. With continued practice he will eventually be ok on his own if it were to happen.
yeah and imagine the look on his face and the parents when he's dead because he possibly drowned and didn't have these lessons. it may suck but see how well the kid learned and knew what to do. most others wouldn't and again would have died. he's in the comfort of someone that will help him. these are the things you need to think about and be aware of before becoming a parent. you'd rather your kid die from not knowing how to react in this situation than having him be a little uncomfortable learning.
@@phobiccentaur4062 This is making a child feel like they could drown. And then poking him when he obviously doesn't like it. This poor kid looks miserable, I don't really see a point in torturing a child so they won't drown. It doesn't even make sense. He's probably going to end up hating water and swimming. Children this young shouldn't be left alone around a pool anyway. I learned to swim when I was 6, and I actually enjoyed it, and I wanted to do it. And he has obviously proved he can do it, so why keep making him upset? No kid I have ever met has been put through this, and none of them have drowned. This is just what controlling people do.

Which is why dads are needed in society. God bless moms but their empathy will not help the child. Most moms wouldn't even attempt this because they would tear up at the sight of their child in pain. But this is tough love from dads.
Why the hell does a 3 old needs to learn how to stay afloat? What do you mean necessary? Are you teaching baby how to not drown so you could be more careless and let your baby wander around? This is stupid.
@@ezye97 There's any number of reasons why you would need them to know this owning a pool like that with a child. You're probably a child yourself so you wouldn't understand yet. It's okay you got time to learn.
@yuli2600 the point is people won't always be around or be able to see or hear them and they need to know how to save themselves, is that a problem or something?
That kid has so much trust in his dad, and you can tell that even though he is scared, he knows he wont get hurt. Edit: not dad, swim instructor Edit Again: A lot of people are saying that he doesn't trust him because he starts crying and is visibly scared, but that's exactly my point. I am a swim instructor, and kids who don't trust you will just refuse to do anything. Even though this kid recognizes the dangerous position he is putting himself in, he knows that if anything goes wrong his instructor wil help. Thats actually why I assumed dad at first, because of how much trust there is.
This is most likely a swim instructor at this swim academy but yes the child has trust but it’s the technique the child knows that he is leaning on. My kids took this course.
Yes he's scared, falling into water unexpectedly is not a fun experience. How great that he has someone to guide him through his feelings and help him workout his emotions so he can save himself... he can do hard things, even whilst having a little cry.
I don't think hes scared cause the reason kids don't drown in water is cause they don't know it's potentially dangerous so they don't panic, I think hes just tired
I love this! How often in life do we have to push through difficult things even when we are sad, scared, angry, exhausted, etc. hiding children from these things is not helpful, wht is helpful is showing them that it can be hard but we CAN do it
