  • This video covers some of the new features and additions that are in upcoming in the 3.2 firmware update for the Cycle Analyst device. There is a heavy focus expanding the regenerative braking capabilities with some of the activation modes described in our regen video ( • New Cycle Analyst 3.2 ... ). It also expands the torque sensor behavior to support torque only sensors with no cadence signal, along with some bug fixes and other niceties that are covered in the release notes.
    The firmware update is available to beta testers via the CA setup utility application and we look forward to hearing additional feedback before making this into a full release later this month.

    Very cool new regen options. Without an aux button, a good cadence/torque interface would be "regen on with brake tap" and on 100% with no pedal movement, but lower regen the faster you pedal forward. Idea is to regen while converting human power or modulating speed towards your "stop point" (timing red light that will one day turn green). Also the on 100% should have a ramp up time to not be too jerky, but be extra jerky 100% fast with back pedal.

    I just upgraded a bike to Phase Runner and All Axle and moving to this firmware unlocked a lot of great features.
    A couple of questions/requests:
    1) It would be great to make pedal regen only turn on if I'm also braking with a brake lever (I do have brake lever switches). I often back pedal just to orient cranks for cornering.
    2) It was really confusing to figure out that 3.2b3 is newer than 3.15. I kept trying to find these features in 3.15.
    3) Unrelated to 3.2b features, I wish there was a way to get geometric increments instead of linear ones on DAux. Example, when using this for PAS/Torque adjustment it would make sense to have 4 steps of 0.5, 1, 2, 4 (2x per step) or 0.5, 0.8, 1.3, 2, 3.3 (1.6x per step) vs 9 steps of 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5 ... 4. Linear gives too many useless options (like 3.5 isn't a useful step between 3 and 4 in this example), and geometric more closely matches how most other systems work.

    Here's a suggestion for the next firmware update : Control over the cruise control via the Multifunction up/down switch. Say, if the Cruise is using speed, the switch could increase/decrease speed, same for wattage or amps. Otherwise it's kind hard to hit the right wattage just by holding the throttle still.
    And thanks for the great products and updates !

    • @GrinTechnologies
      @GrinTechnologies  Před 2 lety +2

      Thanks for the feedback and there is a way to do this to some effect. Just setup the digi aux function to be your watts limit or your speed limit with a high number of levels. Have your throttle mode set to pass-thru, hold full throttle to engage autocruise and it will take you up to whatever you have set for your limit via the MFSwitch buttons, which you can adjust up or down at any point. Let us know if that does the trick. It's much easier to hold full throttle for your autocruise engage time.

So with this update would I be able to attach a thumb throttle and use it as a ebrake lever,if so could I do this with jauopay front wheel kit. (I am disabled and cant afford much) I have a Ghost Rider chopper bike and the forks wont allow me to have disk brakes on the front with this motor kit and for the back I got just pedal brakes. Push button for cruise would be a nice addition. I dont see how to quickly and easily set cruise. I have to run a wire all the way down to the controller just for that. Push button to cruise, push again to cancel, brakes cancel... Is that in there anywhere?

    • @GrinTechnologies
      @GrinTechnologies  Před 2 lety

      There is a throttle autocruise (hold the throttle steady for XX seconds and then it latches), but not a push button cruise mode as such. With PAS sensors the need for cruise is largely negated since it achieves a similar effect and then gives you up/down power or speed control via the Aux inputs.

  • @snowleopard9749

    I can't get pedal regen (3.2b3) to work, the ebrake switch regens, PAS works, the pedal regen indicator shows on the mains screen when back pedalling, but no actual regen. Using an EB312-4110 with throttle-low regen.

    • @GrinTechnologies
      @GrinTechnologies  Před 3 měsíci

      What does the throttle output voltage do? And do you have the speed signal working properly? The back pedal regen is only active when the bicycle is rolling, as it needs to clear automatically when the vehicle comes to a stop. So if you don't have a speedometer hooked up to the system to show bike speed then it won't function.

    Would anti-lock regen braking be feasible with the CA or Phaserunner? Since you have motor/wheel speed, it seems like it wouldn't be too hard to have it throttle back the brake torque when rotational speed is zero, but maybe the refresh rate is too slow?

    hello justin weve streamlined an easy big addon for the ca.v3 using a wemos d1mini ,a logic converter and a 5v to 3 v converter it lets you create custom dash screens in torque pro app on your phone ,can even add analogue inputs to show when lights or blinkers are active on the screen for people wanting to register their high power bikes the unit just connects to the ttl output of the cav3 all the parts were under 20 dollars, illsend an email to grin through the week ,and see about posting one to you,im not going to charge for it, as its not all my work, just work out a free how too,and parts list,thanks for all great videos and products

      can even remove the screen with this then the whole fits into a tiny box ,i actually like the old look mounted in the frame like some older stealth bikes had,its easier to read ,and have the fancy dash on handle bars, the only thing im having trouble with cav3 is with dual motor power splitting looks like having to build little pcb with little trimpots to limit throttle signal to one or other ,seems theres no easy way to have way to set 100/50, 100/100 for 10 second boost then back 100 rear only

    • @GrinTechnologies
      @GrinTechnologies  Před 2 lety

      Hey there and very sweet to hear this. Is the wemos board small enough to fit inside the CA3's enclosure itself so that you can have the wifi unit all self contained? We'll look forward to seeing your email and we absolutely encourage people to make use of the TTL output to transmit the data onto more modern display and logging platforms and running with it.

    • @GrinTechnologies
      @GrinTechnologies  Před 2 lety +1

      @@katiekumcgil Correct that active management of independent dual motor controls is not available on the CA3 platform, as it only has a single analog output line. However, probably 90% or more of dual motor systems don't require this, you can set in the motor controller throttle map how the power is split between the motors and have them all controlled with a single bus.
