    Huge thank you for the walkthrough. Just started learning Touch and videos like these are extremely valuable to a beginner to understand its capabilities.

    Thanks for the overview. I've played around with similar stuff. That's a neat trick with the noise and displace to get some distorsion to the "waveform".

    Great tutorial. I wish I'd found these videos when I first started with touch. Back then I found a lot of tutorials that just rebuilt their network from scratch and a lot of the reasons why they chose certain parameter values or made certain decisions were never explained. I think your style of teaching of going through each node and explaining how you made your decisions is such a great way of teaching.

      @@HristoVelev Of course. I'm sorry if you know this but you can instance directly from TOPs now so there is no need to convert it back to a CHOP. I don't think that was a feature when you made this.

    Amazing thanks for sharing, one question been playing with your file changed a few things, now Im trying to project a color texture mixed with the colors of the pins height but Im stuck no idea were should I pipe in color from an image file.

      Antonio Diaz you have the UV channel from the original plane, and that's gonna help you with the projection. You'll have to deal with what will show on the sides of the boxes though :)

    interesting approach with the sequencing, thank you. but have you tried your patch with a recent TD version? the scalez graph looks much like yours with my input source, but seems to have only very limited influence of the pins. also when i reduce the rows (and cols) the board becomes a strip instead of a square. can't seem to figure either problem out...

      I've been deep in Houdini world for a couple years, so I haven't tried that in new builds unfortunately. Same principles should apply though :)

    • @measuredincm

      I had the same question. From the .toe file he linked, in fit1 you have to change Fit to "Fit Horizontal", translate y to -0.5 and change the scale to 1.23-100.

    not very helpful as a tutorial per se, for example I am lost at 4:30 how to connect the null(which you didn't explain why put a null there) to the Chop to SOP.
    probably to those in advance level will find better use of this video but as a tutorial this is not helping me :(

    • @HristoVelev
      @HristoVelev  Před 6 lety +1

      Maximilian Y. I've picked up this nulls approach from Matthew Ragan's videos I think. The null acts as the end point of the chain which you connect to another chain, the ChopToSop in this case. If you don't have a constant end point, you'll need to drag a new end node every time you add it to the chain. But with the null always at the end, you can drag/connect that, and keep changing the chain before it - the result will still get piped from the null to the right place.

    • @maximilianyuen
      @maximilianyuen Před 6 lety

      thanks for the reply! Would you please point me to any source that showcase how it work? because i just drag a null, and then the Chop to TOP (not SOP because the color is different?) and it just didn't connect and I have no idea what to do next.

    Im pretty darn good with touchdesigner and you had me so stumped in a few different spots. I definitely got it all working but your teaching "style" is terrible. If you are going to take the time to make a tutorial start it from the ground up. Not rehashing an already made project. It looks great btw. The one awesome move you made was including the toe file but its a double edged sword as you can gain the effect with out the gaining the knowledge of all the steps it takes. Take the time break it down i feel like you have a lot to offer the teaching world.
