  • Kubota B2601 compact tractor. Box Blade. Grading the Range. outdoor channel.
    Stumps are out. I used the new Stump Bucket on the FEL of my Kubota B2601 compact tractor - success! Now it's time to backfill the stump holes and grade that area of the Range to get it ready for grass seed. Today, I use the bucket and I put my box blade to good use as we prepare the lane of the Range for completion. I hope you will join me for a while here at the cottage, in the outdoors. Cheers!

      @GPOutdoors  Před 4 lety

      Good morning Robert. If I may offer, my brother has a BX2680 - great tractor - he has just under 2 acres and all generally grass, and gardens, and no forest- flat land. Got it for mowing, landscaping, clearing snow and light grading. Good choice I think for his needs. If you have any more than that or a larger property, forest etc etc, I would for sure get the 2601. Big jump in performance and ability. No question. I hope that helps a bit. Cheers and best of luck!

    Hi GP,
    As always very enjoyable video!
    Great job with the grading! I also noticed that your box blade was tilted forward. They cut more aggressively that way, but maybe that's how you had it set. I have often times had mine set that way initially, but level it flat for the final finishing. Guy just needs a picnic bench along side the range for spectators as well as for a morning cup of coffee!
    Back to your stump removal. I watched the stump removal video again and I think you're well into the learning curve of using it. Job well done!
    Take Care!

      Good morning and thanks for the great comment this morning Tom. Like many things , it takes me a bit to learn how to use these attachments correctly. A little better on the second stump, I think. And hey Guy is pretty happy - all clear and ready for seed soon. Yes, I set it forward today on purpose. But that is a smart idea about putting it back flat when I am ready to finish - I didn't;t think of that. Thanks! All the best Tom!

    How well dose clover grow up there? Would be a perfect ground cover for the range as it never gets tall enough to need to mow it and as an added bonus attracts bees and deer. Grass takes work to keep it short so better to go with a naturally short plant that works well as ground cover.

    Nice vid. I have a Kubota compact as well. I noticed that you have good control of dropping the bucket down slowly/smoothly. I'm new to mine, but it seems that the bucket just slams down on the slightest touch. I asked the dealer if there is an adjustment, but didn't get a good answer. Is there an adjustment or is it just lots of practice?

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  Před 4 lety

      Good morning Tim. Thanks for the Q. I have to say I had the same trouble at first ( and don't get me wrong, I am still learning and trying to get better with it). It seemed very stiff and mechanical at first. My neighbour's L seemed far smoother. If I have the engine RPM up high, the loader is very jerky - it moves fast and if I have a lot of weight in the bucket, same thing, it is difficult to drop it or curl it smoothly. However, now I generally run the tractor at about 2,000 Rpm or thereabouts. I only rev it up to the full 2900 when I need that tiny little extra lifting power. I found out that the tractor's hydraulic power is around 95% even at very low RPMs. You get that tiny little bit extra of you rev it. Maybe try working at a much lower RPM and see if that helps.? Good luck and thanks for the question this morning.

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  Před 4 lety

      Good morning MH! That's a great question. I always get nervous when it starts to lean and especially in the early days, I got really nervous. But it has helped me a lot video taping these activities because when I look back at the film, I realize that the tractor is not leaning as bad as I thought. So, after a while you start to get a "feeling" when it is starting to tilt and you just immediately know when to stop. I can't explain it better, but hope that helps a bit. Also, I installed wheel spacers on the rear wheels last year (so I could use chains) and I think it has helped having a little wider stance now. Thanks again - have a great week!

The tractor does not weigh alot on its own - only about 1671 lbs (plus 450 for the loader - but that weight is all up front). Weight on the back axle and behind for ballast helps a lot with traction and power, especially when you are working the FEL out front. Hope that helps. And hey good luck and enjoy the new tractor! • @regsparkes6507
      @regsparkes6507 Před 4 lety +1

      may I answer some of this for you,...Moose are only semi risky to be around when the rutting season is started,..otherwise mostly, they're like cows that are scared of people and run away,...
      Bears only come around if there's a source of food for them mostly put there by humans,..otherwise like 99.9% of wildlife in Canada, avoid us.
      Wolverines are very wary of people too,..you rarely see them, somewhat like wolves, they are the .1 % that 'might' give a person some concern,..again, you leave them alone and they'll leave you alone. Just don't feed wild animals, then they won't come looking for you to feed them.
      If you smell like food to them, then all bets are off! LOL.

Yes, they are here - moose, bear, wolves, coyote, fox, Martens, deer, but generally as Reg said, they stay away with few exceptions as noted below by Reg. The wolves - only once was I confronted by two of them, and I swiftly made a run for the front door. LOL. I keep my garbage inside and tightly tied. One night a while back, I made the mistake of throwing the garbage in the back of my truck the night before I left. When I came out in the morning , I found huge paw marks on the sides of the truck. LOL. Otherwise I rarely see them. Thanks again for the comment and question. Cheers Simon!
