If you are first time tractor owner, there is a lot to learn very quickly as you get used to operating your new tractor. Morning Herb Caldwell here from Delaware, one tip I would like to share as well for new tractor owners as a rule of thumb is until you get more familiar with your tractor set up as a guide is L-loader. M- mower & H- highway hope this helps.

Thank you for all your videos. I just turned 70 and had purchased my first tractor last summer. Your videos are what made me decide to get a B2601. I watched a lot of videos on small tractors before deciding which one to get. I have 80 acres in northern Minnesota and needed something to do alit of work with. Everyone said to get a skid steer. Not this is the best for me. Thanks again so much for all the help you have given me. Have a very happy New year.

Great video - thanks ! I've had my 2601 for about 3 years. One of the best things I've done is to add 3" wheel spacers. Really increases stability. Huge improvement.

Gordon I enjoy your channel. My family has always been in farming. So I grew up with tractors. I learned to drive on an old Farmall. I just bought a Kubota B2410. It is their Manual transmission compact tractor. Old habits die hard. I just like the manual transmission. Anyway, I do use a chipper with it. But unlike the B2610, there seems to be no tricks to running the rear pto off of the seat. I asked my Kubota guy. But they are very cautious about side stepping the safety features. The way I have worked around this is by tying the seat down when I am off of it. I use a stiff wire as a hook from the hazard sign mount on the back of the seat to the hitch in the rear. I do put the selector in N eutral also. I tried it the way you describe in this video, but with the clutch down, as soon as I engage the pto, there is a loud beep and the engine dies.
Btw....when I watch your videos with your Kubota I always say "He is having a ball with that tractor!"

You truly do understand the tractor's usability and limitations, you did a great job explaining them. Like you mentioned the manual has most of this information in them. It really takes time using the tractor to fully understand all the features these machines have to offer. This video will be a good one to revisit time to time to remind us of the safety messages that are in it.

A lot of what I have learned comes from the good folks subscribed to the channel offering advice and explanations in the comments and from my neighbour Guy. Honestly, I still learn new things weekly on it - and I am still pretty bad at trying to curl into a pile of gravel or dirt. LOL. Hi Gordy, thanks for the informative video. I had the pin on the loader fall out and I’ve heard from other people that it happened to and did damage to the tractor. I was lucky as I saw it and stooped and put the pin back in the large hole that holds the pin is the problem for the 3/8 shaft. So what I did was go the a Fleet Farm store and bought 2 shaft collars 1/2” thick 1” diameter with a 7/16” hole and put it on the bottom of the sliding handle and tightened the set screw. Now the loader is secure and the cost was less then $2.00 a piece. Wayne from Wisconsin
Good tips! But also proof that tractor manufacturers should automate these machines so they rev the engine to match the need of implements, and also make the 4 wheel drive and gearing adjust to every driving surface condition-it’s not the 1960’s anymore, Kubota! If automakers had the same low standards as tractor makers, we’d still have to manually adjust engine timing when climbing hills.
Great video, lots of valuable info that newbies need to know and maybe some seasoned veterans might forget over time. I myself am pretty new to this, my place of work just got me a new Kubota LX 3310 with cab, blower, loader, and soon to arrive, in March a backhoe. This tractor is pretty advanced compared to the tractors of old and requires a lot more attention than they did.
Keep up the good work, I have watched several of your vids and enjoy them all, very professional and your attitude is the best!

I've had my L3901 for 7 years and still learned a couple of helpful hints from your video. I finally found out about the running the joy stick through all positions with the key to accessory just a few years ago. Boy do I wish I'd known that 25 years ago with my big Case Comfort King 870. I'd spend an hour trying to reconnect my hydraulic couplers by pushing the ball in (Pioneer couplers) to release pressure and that's just plain dangerous... rubber gloves and goggles! Thanks for the tips.
In all the years of owning my two tractors I have never noticed them burning any oil. But... I still check the oil level EVERY TIME prior to operating the machine.
I don’t think you need to check the oil every time you use it. Oil does not evaporate. However if you are into checking then that is fine.
If I’m using a machine for a few days in a row I’ll check the fluids at the start, over the next few days I don’t worry about it but I’ll visually check the machine each morning. Personally I’ll probably check the coolant more than the oil as I’m more paranoid about the engine overheating and blowing a head gasket.
I am willing to bet that everyone who has a new tractor will unanimously say ‘I wish I bought this 10 years ago!’ Great video GP!

I love watching your vids since I'm a new tractor owner myself. In June I got a new to me John Deere 955 compact tractor. I've learned a lot since I got it and there's still more to learn for sure. I wish I would've gotten this years ago since its already saved me a bunch of work. As an added bonus my 3 yr old daughter likes it to. Keep up the good work.

Good info, thanks for the refresher. That Kubota camouflage jacket is pretty sporty GP. I'm surprised your brother is staying in Canada for retirement. All the others come to Florida. We have more Canadians than Canada. We get two types, French Canadians and American Canadians. Either in big diesel pushers or 5th wheels.

You've covered some very valid points here GP. A lot of stuff i had forgotten too. As you mentioned its very important to refer to your Owners Manual from time to time. I have had my Kubota L4400hst for about 15 years. You gave good explinations I learned something watching your video. How to keep the pto engauged when you are not on the seat. I knew very little when I baught my tractor.

Happy New Year GP from Nova Scotia. There was some great info in this video. I'm like you, as I recently bought my first tractor (it's Green ) and I am always curious as to what my machine will do. Most channels assume that you are a seasoned professional and skip over the basic stuff. But you always take the time to explain things in an easy to understand way. (Kubota should refer new tractor owners to your videos ) I'm liking this channel more every video and have gone back and watched all your videos and picked up some great ideas. Great video for new owners. I even learned something I didn't know about the seat safety switch. I haven't tried it on my L2501, but I assume it's the same as your B2601. That's a handy feature that's NOT mentioned in the manual. And you're right about watching when turning/maneuvering tractor & implements. Especially brush hog-type cutters. I have a 60" Land Pride on my L2501 and it hangs way out there. Had a couple close calls turning around. Gotta pay attention to your surroundings and make sure there are no animals/people in the vicinity that could be injured by flying debris by a rotary cutter, tiller, chipper, etc. Safety is #1. Hope you and your family had a great Xmas and New Year. I'm looking forward to more great vids. And thanks for bringing back the original lead-in with the coffee, LOL.

I wish I would have known all these things when I got my first tractor. I learned several of these things the hard way, just like you! And I have been lucky too, sometimes ignorance is bliss! I don't remember where I heard this but on your transmission an easy way to remember which gear to use is H is for Highway, M is for Mow, and L is for Loader. Another great video, GP! Cheers!

Cycling the joystick to relieve pressure is always a good idea. However, if you remove an implement in cold weather and then try to reattach it in warm weather you may find that you cannot attach the coupler. That is because fluid pressure can build in the implement hoses while in storage due to temperature changes in the fluid. Fortunately your flat-faced couplers are somewhat less sensitive to this than are the standard Pioneer couplers. With standard Pioneer couplers in most cases folks have to bleed off the coupler to relieve the pressure. On my JD the one loader curl coupler is always impossible to reattach in the summer after I've had the snow blower attached all winter. The good news is you can get a tool that clamps onto the couplers and will relieve the pressure so you can attach the couplers. This is way more convenient than constantly loosening the couplers.

Now does a flat faced coupler differ from pioneer?
it is a different style of couple, but I find that both are relieved and easy to connect under the process I outlined in the video. my FEL couplers are Pioneer couple and the 3rd function valve couples I have are flat faced. Both benefit from the way I reviewed. Hope that helps!
@@terryk3118 Maybe I am using the wrong terminology. Pioneer may very well make both styles. You can Google flat-faced couplers for more information. They are mostly found on Skid Steer machines but recently have came into favor on tractor single-point connect manifolds and 3rd function loader couplers. I don't know what it is about the design but they seem better able to be coupled together with a bit of pressure in the lines compared to the standard couplers that have the knurled collar that you pull back. While moving the joystick around does relieve system pressure and the procedure is detailed in the owners manual, pressure can also build in the implement hoses AFTER they have been disconnected. This seems to happen more often when you disconnect an implement in cold weather and then try to hook it back up in warm weather. This is because the hydraulic fluid in the hoses expands just enough to cause problems getting the couplers to lock together. It happens every spring with my loader but then again, I have the couplers that you pull the spring loaded collar back. Flat faced couplers can couple with pressure better which is why they are used on single-point loader quick disconnects.
