@@seanthomas85 That really depends on whether Geno can appear in more new games from now on. It's nice for him to appear in remake, but it's questionable to not see him announced for Mario Kart 8 DLC and Super Mario Wonder.

My grandma taught me how to play this when i was about 6 or 7. I have beat it multiple times and still continue to play it. It is my favorite game of all time because of her.This got me in my feels. RIP NANNY

No, I mean they essentially left behind the imperfections of the SNES era. No more choppy animations, it's absolutely a good thing.

There’s just something about Mario RPG in SNES days that just fascinates me. The storyline, the graphics 3D design were just too advanced for its time. So many memories and time spent playing it as a kid. No other Mario game could have you team up with Bowser. Greatest Mario game ever💫🍄
I heard that Super Mario RPG was the last game featuring Mario on the SNES, so it makes sense it was so advanced.
It was also the last time Nintendo and Squaresoft would work together. I think unless I am missing something the next time they would work together was after the merger with Enix

@@Mario87456 Nope, Squaresoft ceased to exist in April 2003. Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles on Gamecube came out in August of that year

This takes me back. In the summer of 2005, I was helping my neighbor move some boxes into her attic. One of them was full of her son’s “old video games” (those were her words), and this game was one of them. I asked her if it was alright if I borrowed it, and she let me take it home.
That was a fun summer.
But the most important question. Did you "borrow" it? Or actually only borrow it.

@@SeventhPow3r That's good. I've definitely kept a couple games I borrowed as akid, but that wasn't necessarily on purpose. It was more because my mentality was when you borrowed something, they would ask for the thing back when they wanted it back (which is what I would do when I lent things out). And in a couple instances, that just never wound up happening. Probably because they figured instead that I would return it myself when I was done with it, which just wasn't how I viewed borrowing things at the time.
I've also lost one or two of my own games though from having lent them out for assorted reasons, so there was some karma there.
no way this game was such a gem from my childhood.
My sister and I are leaping for joy. We consider this THE greatest Super Mario games of all times. It's our childhood. When we played it on Super Nintendo as kids. The new graphics make it look even more AMAZING!! This is already on my Christmas List.

@@zackx8005 It was my favorite game as a kid. We wanted to come to the switch so BAD!! I hope they add new weapons, armor and items. Even some secret bosses. Just to give us more to do. But still keep the greatness of the game.

I remember playing the original back in the 90s on the Super Nintendo. To illustrate how much I loved this game, I beat it far many times to count, and it was also me and my mother's favorite game. My mother passed away back in October 4th of 2022, and it was very sudden for me and my family. When I saw this, I cried. I don't cry for video game reveals, let alone remakes. But, seeing this remade made me feel happy that it has been remade, but also depressed since my mother isn't here to enjoy the remake with me. It could very well be a long while till I can play this game. But, it makes me happy that a new generation of Mario fans can enjoy this game like I did back in the 90s.

Same here and my condolences to your family as my mother just passed away 9 months ago but it was mine and my mom's favorite game as I was growing up and played it so many times it's just makes me so happy to see it come back to life after so many years and better graphics too

Watched this about a thousand times already. Brings me back to my childhood. I can only imagine how absolutely DOPE fighting Culex would look. Now imagine an earthbound/mother 2 remake that looks as good as this.

@@MnMGaming69 oh man I've been playing this game since I was a like 10 or 11 I'm 39 now and I can go right this moment through the entire game without missing a beat including whatever side stuff included. It's that near and dear to me.

@@extra4542 IMO Secret of Mana, regardless of if it was a good remake or not. I know a lot are going to say Final Fantasy for them but I never played FF on Super Nintendo as a kid, unfortunately. Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG, and Secret of Mana made up my chihldhood.
The ff7 "remake" isn't nearly true enough to the original to be included. With Super Mario RPG Nintendo is literally doing what old time fanboys of ff7 wanted wanted Square to do for that game.

Pretty sure it’s just a remaster of the game so it’s pretty much the same game with updated graphics. May have some extra features or some extra content but it’s overall the same game.
@@THEMADZGaming I think he would be in it even if it wasn't Square developing it since Culex really isn't in any FF game, he just has the FF4 boss music. But that said, if Square is developing it, this makes me really happy as it means the embargo on these characters is very likely lifted for crossovers.

Well really one of the pivotal parts of this game is Yoko. For those who dont know she is also the Kingdom Hearts composer. She is just as talented as Beethoven or Bach. Just phenomenal. She's also up there with Nobuo.
She is amazing

Yoko Shimomura's music for this captivated me so much as a kid in the mid-nineties that I still hear it in my head almost everywhere I go today when I'm in a good mood. She's the greatest!

I was watching the movie the other day and was like man....they should really remake this game. I love how a dream just came true.

This game was easily one of the coolest crossovers in the history of games, between probably the two greatest development teams of all time, both in their primes; Prime Era Nintendo and Prime Era Squaresoft. It was a love letter to all the work Nintendo and Square had done up to that point, before they would part ways for a while
To see this coming back is like seeing two friends coming back together. Both Nintendo and Square Enix are ghosts of their former selves, but it is still exciting to see this
I absolutely love Mario's design in this, I love how squat all the characters are, rather than just being on model for what they look like nowadays.
As beautiful as this is, I really hope there's extra content and potential for a sequel.

@@sammyshehole What I'd love to see is a massive RPG just like this where we see all the Mario Characters and fully explore the world. They could make Yoshi, Wario, Luigi and Donkey Kong Playable and expand on the lore of who everyone is from Waluigi to Daisy and others.

27 years ago, I remember the original snes version way back then, it was hard and frustrating, used to get my cousins help too.
Now this game is turning out, this game is my childhood.
I wonder if they'll update this version so that you can't use the trick to level up so easily. For those of you that don't know...if you die after using a star treasure box before you are able to save, you'll keep the exp points earned and are then able to use the box again. I used to do this and just die on purpose, repeat, until I reached the desired level. Equipping the Exp. Booster and swapping it between party members was especially handy while doing this. I remember discovering this as a kid and feeling so smart haha.
Hopefully they fix the glitches too like boss skip and I hope there's an extra Toad for a missable item early on...grr

I thought I was the only one who was on the verge of crying 😢 when I saw this. This game takes me back to an incredibly hot Texas summer, played this game to avoid the heat. I had finished my 8th grade year, not knowing that the circle of friends I had in middle school would begin to drift apart in our freshmen year. This game brought me such immense joy and every time I play it, it brings back great memories.

Never played the original Super Mario RPG since I never owned a SNES. But now I'm gonna get the chance when this version of the game gets released for the Switch.
My ONLY complaint about this is,if you never got to play the original……is ,for the original there as a toad kid in the game that was playing a game you could buy from him where you shoot beetles or something,and if you had a turbo controller back in the day,you could break a high score easy 😂😂

It's kind of weird that this game was the introduction (or at least the codifier) of timed hits/quick time events that would go on to become a major staple of RPGs for generations to come.

RIP Peach being called Toadstool in the original version of this game but I am so excited this version is coming to the switch and I definitely want to add this to my switch collection.
After Chrono Trigger, this is the second RPG I've ever completed, so it holds a special place in my heart. My friend down the road had it and lent it to me after he finished it, was such a wonderful experience. The OST is still my fave Mario OST, and to hear what it could possibly sound like in this has me super excited. Can't wait!!!!!!!!!

These characters have potential
I was happy because I thought at first I thought they were bringing it to the SNES app. Then that sparkle came along and everything changed to updated graphics and I was even happier.
I've been praying for this since link's awakening got the whole upgraded package, my all time favorite game. Been playing it since it was released 25 years ago and still have my original cartridge

The nostalgia hit way too hard, brought me to tears. They nailed this remake.
This is what remakes are supposed to be. Above and beyond warranted, untouched, and made for a new generation to enjoy because they haven't already experienced it before.
