    The American ford thunderbird was a fox body car also ,in 1979-1981 I think were the years. Came with the lower horse power V8 302.

    So the headlights do not have a extra hi beam globe in them, its just black tape or masked out to make it look like it has separate hi beam or spot light globes in them.

    Also noticed how much the XD Phase 6 has so much options like the VH brocky, fins on the guards, guard flares etc etc? Ford always copied holden and HRT to a point to try to keep up with sales?😎😎

    • @jackhoulihan9241
      @jackhoulihan9241 Před rokem +1

      The fins were on the XD Phase 5 in May 1980. The Brock VH didn't appear until June 1982. Even the VC Brock with the flares was 1981, so you've got it all backwards.
      There's no such thing as an XD Phase 6, by the way.

    I've been watching some videos of the aussie ford Fairmont and ford falcon. What these cars look like is an American 1978-1980 ford Fairmont with an 1985-1987 ford mustang front clip and taillights. Not exactly , but real close. They were both ford fox bodies , so everything would bolt on.My guess is the Aussie cars are fox bodies also, correct?With the ground effects on your car , it does look like a mustang GT from the front!!

      Yeah our Aussie Fords were completely engineered local ever since the mid 60's. So there may be some similarities in appearance but they are nothing alike. So short answer nothing from the US with "bolt" on vice versa

      This is a Wayne Draper one-off mix... he used Monza red as a base, added some fluro, some voodoo, and here we have it. He called it Periodical Red. A few guys have tried to replicate it but hard to get an exact match.

    Ford never built a phase 5 or 6. The Xa was the last.

    • @HOphaseTV
      @HOphaseTV  Před 5 lety +2

      Hi Ormond. No-one here is claiming Ford built the Phase 5 or 6 (although, technically they did. But I'll get to that later). Ford bailed on motor racing, and the fans. Luckily, a few rogues within the company didn't. The Phase 5 was designed by Ford designer, Wayne Draper, intended to be a track race car until Ford dropped out - all behind Ford's back. Wayne, with the help of Bob McWilliam and race driver Murray Carter, built the XD Group C race cars with their own money, got them to CAMS spec, and produced 25 of them to get the XD on the race track. Once Ford realised the car was a bullet, and that they could profit from Wayne, Bob and Murray's hard work, they sold the Phase 6 & 6 through dealerships to enable the Group C race cars to get onto the track (they had to sell 22 to be eligible to race under CAMS law). So, technically, Ford did sell a production Phase 5. It's just that they had to do it off the books because Ford US, Edsel Ford II himself actually, insisted Ford Australia not race the XD. It's an important Aussie story for any Ford fan, because without these guys there wouldn't be the history we have today. Wayne named them the Phase 5 and 6 in honour of what came before, to keep the dream alive. To get the entire history, read more here: www.hofalcons.com/about01.htm

    Ford Australia never released a Phase 6. Nor a phase 5.
    The phase cars ended with the supercar super scare of the early 70's with the death of the XA Falcon Phase IV. That was the last real phase car.
    This car simply has an after market body kit and some clever boffin thought he'd call it a phase 6. Pure non sense.
    I absolutely love this car, beautiful in every respect. I actually own an XD falcon, so I'm not here to criticize.
    I know a good car when I see and hear one.

    • @grimketel
      @grimketel Před 9 lety +4

      +Royalbigness Rubbish. Wayne Draper bought the rights to the HO name after Ford dropped it in favour of ESP. It doesn't have to be manufactured by Ford to be a HO, since Ford do not own the rights to do so. The car is modified using bespoke parts to the registered user of HO, being Phase Auto's. Ergo; HO.

    • @HOphaseTV
      @HOphaseTV  Před 9 lety +10

      You're 100% correct +Royalbigness. Ford never released a Phase 5 or 6 (actually the Phase 5 HO was a dealership special - so Dick and the boys could race under CAMS law). Ford never wanted to release them - but Wayne Draper did. So since Ford didn't want to do it - Wayne did it without them (with the help of Howard Marsden, Murray Carter and Bob McWilliam). You must realize, Ford never gave a shit about its fans. Still doesn't. And Wayne was someone who did care - so calling him out for being inauthentic, or a boffin, is a miss-fire. He was far from it. And since Wayne's HO Phase 5 was the car meant to be the GTHO Phase 5, before Ford pulled the plug, as a Ford enthusiast you can't tell me that's no worthy of Australian motoring history.

      Hey thanks for the great information. I wasn't aware that Ford Sold the HO rights. I didn't know it worked this way. What a great shame Ford did this in the first place. You are correct when you say they don't give a shit about their fans, which is why they really lost me as a Ford Fan as such. I haven't liked a single Ford product since the mid 80's. Still love my XD though.
      Question. The wheels on your car. Are they the original snowflake alloys ? If so, how did you manage to dish them like that ??
      They looks amazing !

      @HOphaseTV  Před 5 lety

      @@Royalbigness Actually, Wayne Draper never bought the rights to HO. Ford gave it to him when they wanted to help sell over 22 production cars to enable the Phase 5 to race. So, technically, Ford did sell a production Phase 5. But it had to be off the books since Edsel Ford II insisted the XD not race.
