  • Here’s my progress using the double stroke technique (which now I have modified a bit to develop more endurance, control and stamina).
Bpm range starts at 200 ending in 300.
This is actually the first time I’ve attempted going over 250 bpm’s (which was my max speed using this technique).
Certainly, there are some sloppy parts that need to be worked on, which will be my goal during my practice routine.
Hope you guys enjoy the ride.
    And remember... KEEP PUSHING!
I proudly endorse VRATIM drum shoes and apparel.
    Cheers

So, you heel toe seems not much like "heel" and "toe...Its like and toe motion that make you hit 2 notes working against you Spring tension..is that correct?
And do you prefere Axis longboard or demondrives to perfome double strokes?

That is correct! We need to work with the spring tension and not against it. Meaning that you need to control the rebound based on how the spring responds to not block the pedals inertia. Right now I'm mostly using Demon Drives for Doubles! Here's a more in depth video about this technique, pedal settings etc.czcams.com/video/j8M9lRUGLoo/video.html

Doesn't look like any power behind those? Triggers must be used?

Rico Horton There are certain speeds where it becomes a blur. However, notes can be heard clearly until you reach 250.
I’m playing on a mesh head due that I live in an apartment. If it’s played on a real kick drum it would more precise.
I have a few videos where I play on a practice pad to “simulate” the acoustic sound without triggers.

Anton Dubkov It’s from a kit for kids under the brand name of “MENDINI” I just replaced the batter head for a Remo Silent stroke and added a Roland RT-30K trigger.

I think double bass technique can only be played until 250bpm precisely. Above that (up to 300bpm), no player can play it precisely, seems sloppy, no power, the beater is to close to drum head, no matter what technique it used. And, above 250bpm, 16 note cannot be played practically, and precisely, either in live or recording, cos its really consume stamina, even playing it only one or two bar. Maybe the quad pedal is created for above 250bpm. Player can play relax, precise, more creative rather than focus on creating a stroke, and consume less stamina. Also less injury :)

I agree man! My max speed on singles strokes is 260 and The faster I get the slower I want to play lol. Even thought I've seen pretty clean double bass played up to 270ish, its hard to keep up with those higher tempos constantly.
