- As he slid into the slopes of the mythical Stelvio with the 68 bib Thursday, Pawel Babicki lost a ski after only 40 seconds of racing. But the young Polish skier did not give up because he went so on one ski until the arrival of the downhill of Bormio. In the end, he finished last (67th), 36 "47 behind the winner, the Italian Dominik Paris.

@@omeratssli yeah, but you don't usually do javelin turns on a WC set downhill slope... considering that people usually say that those ski, used by normal people, are totally unusable. Then I don't know... never tried a WC set downhill, orethose ski or even good javelin turns...
My thoughts as well !
The farthest I have ever made it on one ski was 2.1 miles, not near at that speed but even with conditioning I still had to take the boot off mid-mountain as it was the worst foot pain I had ever felt.
Those of us who ski can attest that this is not only difficult but also very exhausting. I hope that he didn't have any more races to go for that day...or week.

I've had to do this once with a friend who broke his alpine surf attachment. We both ended the run on one leg, him with the surf board in his hands on top... Perfectly fine at the beginning but the leg start to burn and burn really hard by the end. Congrats as this run was probably injected with water to make it icy.

I remember when I was a kid 5-6 years old. Me and my brother we had just one pair of ski. Sometime we couldn't agree who's turn is today. So we have to share. Take one ski, each of us.

Panie Tajner. Może wyłożysz na niego kasę? Bo z tego co wiem to narciarstwo alpejskie też podlega pod PZN. Jeżeli dostanie wsparcie to wtedy rezultaty będą znacznie lepsze, bo będzie miał za co trenować. A tak to okupujemy ostatnie pozycje... nie wspominając o tym że nawet Czesi i Słowacy nas leją w tej specjalności. :(

@igoski. He should have stuck toe of his left boot down on his ski just behind the binding. Just w a slalom ski in water skiing. I use to do that when I lost a ski.

Holy sh!t, never thought this was possible at such speeds! I mean, yes, he was noticably slower on one ski than on both but still pretty damn fast!
And yes, I know there's monoski and snowboarding but on both of those ur strapped in with both feet and don't have 1 of ur legs dangling in the air while skiing, effectively doubling all forces on the other leg!
