- If you power on your Traxxas vehicle and the light on the electronic speed control blinks red or red and green, low voltage detection is likely enabled and causing the issue. Follow these steps to disable low voltage detection and restore normal operation.
THANK YOU!! This worked for me to fix my younger son's new RC teton that he just got for christmas. He was turning off the ESC using the push button instead of just disconnecting the cable. Which apparently put the ESC into LIPO low voltage protection mode. Successfully put it back into NiMH mode by following the steps in this video! THANK YOU!! PSA: Do NOT power off the ESC by using the push button! Only use the push button to turn the ESC ON! To turn off ONLY DISCONNECT the cable!

mine doesnt even turn on most of the time. i need to unplug the battery atleast 20 times until it turns on
This doesn't work on mine. If I push and hold the ESC ON button it turns green then red. I release the button and wait for one red flash then pull full throttle on the transmitter (as described here). But then ESC LED goes out and stays out.
If I hold the ESC button when turning it on, it blinks red once, twice then three times and starts over. No response whatsoever.

This video is great, but I wish I had watched this before purchase, so that I would have never bought this thing. Such a pain to have to do this every time I put the battery in to use. And these instructions are so complex to get it to reset, that I end up watching this video over and over again. Right now it's got like 84k views, so at least a few hundred are mine. Wish Traxxas could make this process easier.
For everyone who can’t do the last step, make sure you hold the button for just over 10 seconds. It worked for me

Thanks! This solved my speed controller issue that was blinking red then green. The Stampede now runs great with cell batteries instead of 2s lipo batteries.

Traxxas are funny if you hesitate even a little they go back and you have to start all over.

This uncovered a completely different problem. My lipo was bad out of the box.
your tech support should watch this instead of telling me on my dime to mail in a brand new transmitter and remote you dont even know your own product

When I release the ez set button after it turns red, it stays red and doesn’t blink at all
Mine does the same. So does that mean the “esc” is toast? Starting to think so
Wow this thanks I was confused for 2 hours what was going on with my rustler vxl I turned the rc car off wrong and changed the speed receiver and this fixed it right away
My Traxxas Trx4 Sport when I was hard crawling it started blinking red and get really slow. I try the procedure that’s on the manual but nothing, so I disconnected the battery and reconnect it and get back to crawling.
Now I fix that thanks for the help :-)
PS: I use a 5,000mah NiMh battery and works great

Hi! I have an e revo with the xl 2,5.
Ive recalibrated it as it was in the video but after a few minites the car got way slower and the red lihgt started to blink again

My slash was driving very slow I just got back into rc and I spent hours and bought new batteries this helped a lot! Runs like new!

Mine does the same exact thing. Plugged in my 2s 5000mah lipo with lvd enabled and it starts blinking red. Tried unplugging (didn't work)

Thank you so much for this guide. I thought that my brand new slash was broken. Bought a nimh acu and the red light was always blinkin and the motor was turning off after a short while. I was desperate and didn't know what is happening and the info in the cars manual wasn't good enough.

mine is blinking green and red got steering but no forward or reverse I'm using a 3s 50c lipo battery on a traxxas rustler electric (is the battery to big)and I never had a problem till I got the new esc xl5

I have the red green blinking light on my son's traxxas slash, we have a fully charged lipo. All my research shows this happening with the nickel battery but nothing with the lipo battery ??? Very frustrating traxxas...
Last time used 4 months ago worked fine then today my son wanted to take it outside and...... this 😞.
On a separate note my traxxas x-maxx 8s steering servo broke multiple times I upgraded the to metal gears, servo still broke, then I bought the "better " traxxas servo (4th one now) also upgraded the steering hardware with aluminum and adjustable steering servo saver spring. All worked fine until now.... only steers to the right & won't return to straight, until I physically turn the tires straight. Goes straight or right then won't return to straight.
I purchased everything last year. Honestly sick of dumping money into both of them. Traxxas isn't as good as I thought. Also x-maxx tires explode, balloon, tare , & expensive.
What do I do ? Invested too much money to throw them in the garbage but buying parts that aren't reliable ???

I bought a new Stampede and I've done this probably 10 times, it still switches back. I've only got it to work for a few seconds. I'm wondering if it has a faulty ESC, I'm using a 7 cell hump pack freshly charged.
I have a lithium battery in and it is blinking red and green. I’ve not taken good care of my car when I was younger so the motor may be broke or something because I went through sand and stuff. Idk

My light was blinking red after a hard crash and I didn’t have throttle ... I unplugged the battery and plugged it back in and it worked fine idk what happened

Will this work if I had to swap out the receiver I tried to upgrade my pre runner To a rc4gs receiver I had laying around for the gyro but I can’t get the throttle to go but this started happening before I swapped the receiver I actually swapped it because I was having this issue like a day or two after buying the pre runner
mine keeps blinking green and red, can't get it to stop(using a 3 cell lipo traxxas slash 1/16) and throttle doesn't work only steering, any idea what the problem is

After I push the button the light comes on green then turns red but never flashes. Does that mean the esc is toast, or?
I have a lipo and i'm in low voltage detection and the esc keeps blinking red i can steer but there isn't any throttle i tried reseting it holding the receiver en pressing the set button on the transmitter i tried recalibrate the esc nothing what is the problem
Please call us at 1-888-TRAXXAS to resolve the issue. This may be the result of a bad motor or over-voltage from the LiPo battery.

Tony Mcgee the problem is the lipo that you use if you maybe have a friend that has a lipo try using that one and always have a lipo tester "ALWAYS"

I have low voltage enabled with lipo battery. After just a couple runs esc light blinks red slowly. i unplug battery check and see that it is still nearly full. plug back in and the same thing keeps happening. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have two slashes and they are both doing this All lipo brushless motor and a wrath that has lasted at least 3 years and I’d beaten almost to pieces but I mean it works don’t it. Yep oh and a stampede on all the same stuff but a arm snapped in half

First I buy a ready to run Traxxas slash then figure out it’s not ready to run it doesn’t bring a battery or a charger then the batteries get here and I can’t connect the stupid remote to the truck then I connect the remote to the truck and the truck turns left and right but it won’t go forward or backwards ready to run my butt dude I need some help I’ve tried everything

My Sledge won't calibrate. I can't get into the programming mode. If I release the button when it turns red - it stayes red and won't go through the process. Only when i am pressing the button it will go 1x red 2x red and finishes with 3x red. After that everything on repeat. When I release the button it starts blinking green again... I don't know what to do...

what if you have steering but no forward or backward? the truck don't move at all, but turns both ways just fine. is it the ESC?

I had the same problem and this video fixed it, because of low voltage detection mode my car would not move only the steering worked
So I am using lipo aftermarket batteries I turn low voltage on but it blinks red when my battery is about to die and it won’t shut off is that just how it is or?

I dont understand why everyone's having trouble with the slash ultimate.. I read all the information and when I first fired up my truck. I didn't have to turn on low voltage detection like the card said I'd have too. The light was green from the get go. So I guess my ultimate was setup for lipos from the factory. My light on my esc was never red. It was always green. Weird..
I'm having a different problem that I can't seem to find a fix. My esc (vxl 3s) ignores all controls, and won't stop blinking red in sequential order. As 1 blink pause, 2 blinks, pause, 3, pause then starts over, 1, , 2 , , 3, , 1, , 2, , 3,etc... Over and over, all red. What do I do?

I've only used this Slash maybe 8 times. It's already having issues and the battery has a dead cell. Way too early for all of this. Walmart junk has lasted longer. Probably going to just replace everything with non Traxxas parts lol

I just got a LaTrax ESC for a rebuild of an old 1/18 Pro-Pulse and got all new Traxxas Teton internals and now my ESC is not responding other than stearing after two weeks or so. Is there a way to reset the ESC or do I need to get a new one?
I hit a gate door and it stopped working it ran until then I even plugged the motor in to my E-Maxx to make sure it was working properly. and it ran just fine for a few seconds.

@@PersuadeIt hi, turns out my old battery that it came with died just over time. The lipo I was using was too powerful for the stock esc therefore preventing the car from working to avoid damages. I purchased a new battery (the one it came with) and after resetting the transmitter everything is working again

I'm pretty sure it's a safety feature so you don't completely drain your lipo battery and kill a cell.
Mine limits power for a few minutes and then shuts down completely with the blinking red light indicating low voltage. I swap batteries turn it back on and Rock in roll.
