It kind of sucks because how it's written in the OCG is with the Japanese translation and the English word, which sounds much cooler. They could have kept the "Ryu" part in dragon. Same thing happened with Black Luster Soldier- Super Soldier.

I remember someone in the OCG actually made a Celtic guardian control deck and won 2nd place this year. Was hilarious
The Ocg is a wild place lol
Yeah, but it's in a local. Any deck can win at locals. I once won a local tournament with Token OTK while everyone else is playing Thunder Dragon, Salads, Striker, Hero, Cyber Dragon, and etc. Plus local events don't usually get enough attention that often.

@@BramLastname incorrect. I thought the same as well when I made the deck as a meme. But I eventually fell in love with it and for a good reason. The deck can draw u a ridiculous amount of cards per turns. Which allows u to go wild with dinomiscus and ice dragons prison. U can go first and set 3 and live or even play the rock statue. U actually have a better chance of winning over standard statue stun because they can just happen to draw u 1 to 4 cards (nobles can special themselves and it’s not hopt, so u can keep going till u summon the normal one). Back then it got beaten down by La Jinns 7 colored fishes and Summoned Skulls all day long and he wasn't really in the runnings for prizes at locals, but fair play to him, he was ahead of his time.

The interesting thing about Skull Servant,

They should make them actually good if they want people to play them :P
@@SongbirdOfficial Sometimes I wonder what Konami thinks when designing cards. Like do they actually have an idea of what could be good or affect the meta? Or do they just throw on random effects and see what their players do with them?
@@vullord666 they've gotten FAR better with card design, look at some spells from about 15 years ago
@@vullord666 Feels like a mix of both. They definitely have improved, but things like hard once per turns and other checks let them feel like they can run wild with the actual effects. Plus, I have a hunch that they purposefully make the anime character decks underpowered because the people who are dedicated to those decks have a surprising amount of overlap with the people who cry "meta sheep" when they lose to a good deck.
@@vullord666 Or maybe it's a sign that the game itself isn't healthy when today's definition of good is basically "broken card with 4 different effects"

It's also fun to see how they released Cowboy in Duel Links,
And everyone was like, that's nice, but we'll just play Number 39: Utopia.

Cursed Dragon - Curse of Dragon made me laugh really hard, hadn't seen that one before, thanks Konami
As someone who was away from Yu-Gi-Oh from 2006ish until very recently, I just realized Dark Grepher can instantly set up Dark Armed Dragon all by itself. Jeez Louise.
Also, I never really knew Strike Ninja was a retrain of Ansatsu. That's neat
Who is Louise
@@lolwhat19 It's Beaver Warrior

Mikazukinoyaiba and Tri-Horned Dragon deserve retrain/evolution cards. Both of them have really cool looking artworks and since they are dragons, they already have support cards.
Tri Horned Cursed Dragon
This card can be special summoned from you hand by tributing one dragon type monster on the field.
This card can make up to three attacks per battle phase at the cost of 500 lp per attack except the first
Cursed Dragon - Curse of Dragon's next retrain will aptly be called, "Cursed Dragon - Curse of Dragon - Dragon of the Cursed"
I lowkey want cards like Wind guardian of the fortress or mechanicalchaser to get evolutions eventually, either due to their once upon a time formidable status, or their nostalgic designs. I'd also love to see all of the monsters in law of the normal getting at least one effect alternative (specially Haniwa). I'm glad Summoned skull got support although most of it is shockingly mediocre. I'd love if they gave him a new fat boss monster with a scary effect like "This card can only leave the field if its destroyed by battle, and can't be targeted by monster effects.". A nice reminder of how scary he use to be.
I didn’t know what a Celtic was, so in school I’d be like “I summon the Electric Guardian!”

@@StarkMaximum Well, the Celtic Guardian kinda looks like Link so I guess that makes- Oh. Yeah, that’s probably the worse way to say it. Getting two characters names wrong at once

Back in the days of Enraged battle ox, it were used in a beast type deck with Bazoo, the Soul-Eater. A quick way to make a lot of damage easily.
Armored Kappa is probably one of my favorite retrains alongside Uni-Zombie. Even though Armored Kappa never saw any play ever, I do appreciate them creating an Xyz version of Psychic Kappa, an old normal monster that most players probably forgot existed
Cool, Obnoxious Celtic Guard! I remember using one in a Warrior-type toolbox deck alongside Fusion Sword Murasame Blade as a decent 2-card combo.
I ran Obnoxious Celtic Guard and trolled my opponent really really hard. My play group (at the time) really only played Beat-Down decks. So I devised a scheme that would have them think outside of Beat-Down. Run Obnoxious Celtic Guard, and a bunch of Equip Spells. And no, it wasn't to pump OCG, it was to pump the teeny monsters my friends played! After that, it was just stall, because I had no draw cards in my deck, I legitimately relied on luck and wall cards. They drew themselves into oblivion trying to find an answer, any answer, and I'm just sitting there, wiping their sweat off their foreheads with a towel. I broke Beat-Down inside of a week in my play group, and I have no regrets.
Uni-Zombie can target your opponent's cards, too, btw. If your levels are already where you want them, but still want to discard a card or Foolish Burial a zombie, you can mess with your opponent's monster levels. This can do something since the level increase is permanent. It might mess up their Synchro or Xyz plays.
Yeah it’s a really useful effect even if there not running synchros you could fuck up an xyz material ot just not ruin your own set up
As someone who never really played beyond the first Yu-Gi-Oh generation, the thing about not having 3 copies often, very true. Only blue eyes or dark magician were something you had more than one copy of.
I feel like Strike Ninja/Gran Maju would be one hell of a pairing.
2 of my favorite monster's especially Gran Maju
Enraged Battle Ox is one of my favorite cards. The set it came in had a number of good Beast and Beast-Warrior monsters and support so I ended up making a Beast deck. To this day I mainly play with Beast/Beast-Warrior archetypes. I do play others like Salamangreat and Crusadia but I will always gravitate towards Beast decks because of this card.
This was one of my favorite videos of the channel. I liked a lot the explanation of the decks of the old days
I always loved Celtic Guardians original art ever since I was a kid.
A man of good taste
I keep being reminded of Link whenever I see Celtic Guardian, lol. 😊 Anyway, I still like using him for my rank 4 XYZ summons sometimes. Obnoxious Celtic Guardian can be somewhat good if you have a boss monster that has more than 1900 attack points and you place him in defense mode.
Great vid DuelLogs! Curse of Dragon is my favorite monster, I hope we get Cursed Dragon in Duel Links alongside the xyz and ritual versions of Call and Manifestation.
I thought this was going to be boring and I was going to stop watching the video and play duel links but you opened my eyes to so many strategies, I had to watch to the end and subscribed with a thumbs up.

It's funny how "crowned by the world chalice" died at the beginning of the World Legacy lore and it revived at the end as a broken as fuck synchro monster. Like, she got mad she died and activated a ton of cheat codes when she respawned.
That's not even her final form. She is the keyblade master after all.

It's awesome with Master Duel, seeing these cards, being surprised by all the new ones then watching a video like this can clear up a lot of the "why was this added" or "what's going on"

Didn't mention Toon Summoned Skull, but I can't blame him. Pretty sure Toon was only truly competitive in my Grade School as a kid because no one ran S/T destruction because most of the cards worth worrying about were Normal Spells.
Enraged Battle Ox also got an Aqua counterpart that supported Aqua, Fish and Sea Serpent monsters with Umitauros in the Zexal era. Abyss Rising if I recall and not really worth running as WATER decks were either going for Xyz summoning or Mermail.

Top main character archetypes? Like dark magician, gagaga, odd eyes, performapal and on
there aren't even 10 main characters, also the archetype might belongs to them, but they never played it in the anime/manga.

6:50 AND Summon Skull 12:24 Huh. Not bad for a card Yugi used once in the filler episodes / the Dungeon Dice Monsters episodes. Strike Ninja surely had it better than Beaver Warrior, or Silver Fang, or Big Shield Gardna
Big shield gardna is so cool. He's had a couple related cards over the years but I wish there was a way to build a whole deck around him
