Against Girona, Vinicius Junior had one of the best performances of his career. A goal and 2 assists and how he played was breathtaking and just some slick football Joga Bonito at times all over again. He literally cooked Yan Couto and every time he had the ball he put fear into his opposing fullback and it’s not the first time we’ve seen him do that and rightfully so after the game Carlo Ancelotti called him the best player in the world and that’s a subjective opinion that’s saved for another conversation.
He’s one of those players who elevates his performances in big games and some people will tell you that he goes missing in big games. Vinicius Junior is one of the best big game players in world football and has a tendency of showing up for Real Madrid when the lights are the brightest and he did that again on Saturday. His Girona performance is an example that he’s world class and when he puts his energy on playing the game, there’s no stopping him and ranking him among the best players in the world at best top 5-10. For Real Madrid he’s finding his form at a pivotal time for them especially with the champions league returning and they’re set to have a deep run in the competition and maybe win the whole thing and he’s fit and firing on all cylinders. In his last 6 games he has 6 goals and 3 assists and this season he has 12 goals and 6 assists and would have more G/A if he didn’t spend a chunk of the season out injured. With Jude Bellingham out for 2-3 weeks, they need him to continue his brilliant form. He had a 10/10 performance and Vinicius Junior dropped one of the best individual performances ever seen from a player this season.

The reasons Girona were not able to exploit the defence were Valverde and Camavinga especially Valverde...You have to beat them first to go on and challenge the defence line.

Jude Bellingham had his injury been more serious he would’ve been out for 2 months and Real Madrid are fortunate that he’s only out for 2-3 weeks because it could’ve been even more serious.
Right now in La Liga they’re 5 points ahead of Girona, Real Madrid just cannot catch a break with injuries and as good as they’re playing right now, you just want them to keep everyone healthy. It’s a massive blow for Real Madrid that he’s out for 2 weeks because he’s been so impotent to their team whether it’s his goals overall play versatility etc and the guy has come up decisive for them when they needed it. Without him they’re fine in La Liga and they should be able to take care of RB Leipzig even if they’ll miss his presence and Carlo Ancelotti will go with a 4-3-3 or the same system with Brahim Diaz next to Vini and Rodrygo and keep in mind how good he’s been this season and he’s really stepped up and been an unlikely hero for them and I expect more of the same from him with Jude Bellingham out for a while and thank god it’s only for a couple of weeks.
Brahim is a total upgrade compared to Asensio. I'm glad we brought him back to Madrid. He's a complete attacking midfielder.
When Real Madrid players recover from their injuries they are favourites in the CL. 115 FC look weak. Slow, robotic, predictable and as boring as always. Madrid are physically better than the rest, and the quality was always there. Last year, World Cup in the middle of the season was too much for an old, aging team. They spoke about tweaks but missed the genius move by Ancelotti. Mario almost got it here at 1:33 but missed the key point in the end, as did Burley.
The tweak was moving to a 3 in midfield instead of 2 in front of the defence in a 4-2-x-x. This let Valverde and Camavinga patrol the inside channels where the Girona full backs operate, just as Mario mentions with Miguel, which Couto also does. That was the difference in how he set the team up. Yes, moving Vini and Rodrygo back out wide also played a role, but it was that defensive set up that the game was based on.

I can’t believe that Real Madrid actually beat Girona without any proper center backs. Despite the news that Jude Bellingham is out for 2-3 weeks and injuries continuing to plague them, this weekend officially ended the La Liga title race with Real Madrid beating Girona 4-0, and Barcelona dropping points by conceding 3 goals to a relegation threatened team at home and are 10 points behind them and Atletico Madrid aren’t a bad side they’ve been inconsistent on the road recently.
I know Real Madrid have had a lot of injuries but when the other contenders like Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have had their inconsistencies respectively with Barcelona dropping points against teams they should be beating and Atletico Madrid having their own problems away from home even though they have an excellent home record, who’s gonna challenge them as Real Madrid every challenge or setback they’ve faced they take care of business and nothing has stopped them from winning games. Girona have been impressive and Real Madrid home and away are the only team that has defeated them in La Liga, but do they have enough in the tank to sustain a title challenge that’s the thing with them. What’s gonna stop them from winning La Liga even if their whole team is injured, don’t care they’re winning the league regardless and the title race in Spain has just been wrapped up this weekend.
