Honestly, I like the speed as played in the video. To all those people saying "it's too fast", I think it's kind of boring when played much slower than this. When Joplin said 'not fast' on the sheet music, it was pointed towards the people that would play it at ridiculously fast speeds just to show off.

So I am 81 years old and have Scott Joplin on piano rolls. Gone to the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee, been to New Orleans, knew the founder of the Preservation Hall (that's the new one - there was an old one) and heard quite a few ragtime piano players. This girl is among the best! We should all thank her parents for bringing forth this amazing talent. And I have heard her do other things so this is not some fly-by-night review. She is blessed. Maybe a little young for the world, but she will be. She will be.

Hey Kristen, I was classically trained in piano when I was a kid. I stopped playing for many years. I always said if I took piano back-up I would play rags exclusively...well, here I am many years later playing rags and loving it! Thanks for the inspiration.

This gives a great example of how far popular music has fallen in the last century. This was written between 1900 and 1920. This was popular 100 years ago and it's still around. How many of today's 'hits' will still be around 100 years from now. We, as a people world wide have gotten so lazy we can't even appreciate music.

I am delighted by Kristen's knowledge of the keyboard as much as her playing. She is not only practiced, but knows where the precise sounds she strives to elicit come from. This is a love of the instrument as well as the music.
