Let the water do the work. Abstract Watercolour Landscape / Lake Superior

- This latest watercolour was inspired during a fishing trip to the shores of Lake Superior. My work has evolved over time, putting more focus on simlifying the landscape.
As materials go, buy the best that you can afford. Start with great watercolour paper. It does make a difference. Use good quality brushes, they will enable you to do more with the watercolours. Higher quality paints are richer in colour. Experiment with different materials. And make loads of mistakes. I create lots of sketches and mistakes for every successful painting. Its part of being an artist. Have Fun!
My material list:
ARCHES Watercolour Paper 140 lb Cold Press
Winsor & Newton Professional Series Watercolour Paint
Sable hair and mixed hair paint brushes.
Palette knife

Beautiful work! I was curious about which shade of Winsor Blue that you were using (red or green?). I’m also assuming that it’s Winsor & Newton. Thank you for sharing your talent!
Thanks for your interest in my watercolours. Apologies for the late reply. The Winsor Blue is a red shade. I sometimes mix Winsor Blue with Prussian Blue, tones it down.
I missed you!
