    Yay! exactly what I've been planning to do, but haven't yet. I haven't seen many videos of people mixing their own pastes, so it's good to see it done well, and to hear your comments about it as you go. I'd be very interested in seeing you do paste with mica and/or chalk or other pigments, if you're up for it! Thank you!

    Great money saving idea I have seen people do it with resin and mica I am wondering if you can get a colourant for the titanium dioxide and make coloured paste or could you had mica to the titanium dioxide very helpful video Rini thank you so much for sharing ❤

    • @RinirocksArtistry
      @RinirocksArtistry  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, I've made pastes with mica and have added Titanium Dioxide. What happens is the mica loses it's shimmer. I've also tried it with using Acrylic Paint too and I didn't like the outcome.

    • @RinirocksArtistry

      No, adding mica to the white pigment paste dulls the mica. I don't like it personally. You can just use mica.

    Try adding 3% Isopropyl alcohol, 91%, which will extend your shelf life, although I don't know for how long. How do you know when pigment pastes, or resin, have gone bad? Were you able to find the resin without the hardener?

    • @RinirocksArtistry
      @RinirocksArtistry  Před 2 lety +1

      I've never had pigment pastes long enough to go bad but I believe they can last up to a year. I use 2 part Epoxy so yes, the resin and hardener always come in two different bottles.

      I'm not entirely sure! Maybe with liquitex gloss varnish? 🤔

    • @JaneofArc
      @JaneofArc Před rokem

      I think you can use dry pigment with acrylic pouring medium. I haven't tried it, but it should work because it's also an acrylic based medium. The pouring medium is acrylic based and alters the viscosity of paint for pouring. My thinking is that if you use that to mix the pigment with, it should work. Kind of like when you mix your cornstarch with a small amount of water to make a slurry before adding it to your food so it doesn't clump up. Like Rinirocks said above, an acrylic based gloss varnish might also work. Matte or whatever you have because it's acrylic based. Basically a clear acrylic based medium is what you're after. I haven't tried it though, but I have worked with pigments and acrylic mediums for years this way. I'm just not sure how it would look when mixed with resin, but I would be confident to try it.

    Enjoy your work. I made the pigment paste. My question is how much of the pigment paste do you put in your resin to get those beautiful waves?

    • @RinirocksArtistry
      @RinirocksArtistry  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you! Usually just a pea size amount but it depends on how much resin you're mixing it into. I go by how opaque it is. You don't want it to be translucent unless of course you're wanting softer waves. You want it to be opaque. I still have quite a bit left from that video and I've made lots of ocean art since that video. One thing I did do is that I transfered it to a larger container and added just a bit more of the Resin (not hardener) to give it more of a creamier consistency and then it was perfect for me. You don't want it to be grainy. Also, the trick to getting good waves is once you've mixed your paste with resin, let it sit for a bit to thicken up. Also, don't overheat your resin. Hope this helps!

      Hi Dorothy! Yes, it can be done with any pigment powders. Just make sure they are pigment powders and not micas, although you can do this with micas as well, for a different effect.

    • @RinirocksArtistry
      @RinirocksArtistry  Před 7 měsíci

      Hello! Glycerin will not mix with resin. I suspect castor oil would not be suitable as well. You can try silicone oil to create some interesting cells, but you would have to be mindful of the amount you're adding to your resin piece.

    Hi I made this paste. Now I want to use it but don’t know if I should use it like this (just part A) or if I should mix it with part B and how much to use of part B? If I weight it out the amount of paste to then weigh out part B, it won’t be an exact weight amount since parts A has the weight of the titanium dioxide in it. Please help! I’m afraid to use just part A because it won’t cure but, I don’t know how much part B to use. Can I use just part A because it’s going to have both parts A and B on it to cure? Thank you.

    • @RinirocksArtistry
      @RinirocksArtistry  Před 2 lety

      Hi Maria. Just use it like you would use other pigment pastes. Mix your part A & B and then add a small amount of the white pigment paste to your mixed resin. The same way u would use Castin'craft lets say.

    • @RinirocksArtistry
      @RinirocksArtistry  Před 2 lety

      It will cure, trust me! I also wasted to say that when I made this video I found that my white pigment paste was still grainy so I added a little more Part A to it. You want your pigment paste to be very smooth otherwise you will see little white specks when you use it in resin.

      Hi! No, I wouldn't put it on your lips. I don't see an issue with cured resin being against your skin, such as a pendant, etc. When you're working with resin, I recommend you wear chemical resistant gloves and a respirator.
