When I type “cd system32” on my particular CLI, it says “The system cannot find the path specified.” I am pointing to my C: drive that is the largest partition. How do I get around this? Edited: I changed it to D: instead and even though it wanted to go into automatic repair a couple times, I kept selecting continue anyway and I got it to work! Thank you very much!

You don't need installable media. You can to that in safe mode as well.

Hi there, I don't think this worked. If I'm running 64 bit Win11, should I create a new 64 bit Value instead of the 32 bit?

will this work if the hard disk is encrypted with bitlocker?
I can't open cmdprompt when I attempt it it also asks for a password just the same.
I'm in the same boat..get as far as "open command prompt.."preparing command prompt" then asks for the same password from same account I forgot the password for.

Okay so my comment got deleted.
I did this step by step, opened up the cmd in the lock screen 5 seconds later it closed. I tried it again but both of the files (cmd and ease of access) did not exsist so i couldnt revert the proscess. Can i have help please?

hey im gonna ask this because im still confuse,i already change my admin pass but know i cant open cmd on my laptop because now its said utilman.exe, how to revert it back to normal cmd.exe?
You renames cmd to cmd 1 so Simply goto windows /system32 and revert back cmd file name
How do I change the info back so nobody else can click on the icon to change the password again . What is the steps

Clearly, your solution is not without software if you need to create windows installation media.
Heh can't do it because i'm downloading onto a mac and cant open the exe to transfer to. a usb.
the diskpart starts but don'T ready any of my local drives
yeah you need to list volume, or if you know the drive then no need, just go directly C: , cd windows, cd system32

Update: if you want to revert back to the old changes just do the opposite of what you did.( if its a different drive use that letter)
C:
Cd windows
Cd system32
Copy utilman1.exe utilman.exe (press yes to ovewrite)
Copy cmd1.exe cmd.exe
And thats it hope this helps those that needed it
