I ront know if youre still having this problem, but what I did was drain and put best , most premium Amsoil transmission fluid in and the problem went away. It has not happened again since 5 years ago.

What did you find out? I’m having a similar issue. Shifts hard at 20mph goes away after restart

Well, in my case, I had just bought this from a dealer a week prior. At first they tried to tell me they drove the car and nothing was wrong, but when I showed them this video and asked for the Service records, they couldn't really argue. The previous owner took it in for the same problem about a year ago. To their credit, they took the car back and gave a full refund. I wish I had more help for you. I did find info in the internet that recommended having the dealer flush the fluid 3 times. Another thread talked about checking pneumatic switches on the outside of the case. Unfortunately, most of the threads I found said the problem keeps coming back, and the best recommendation was to plead your case with Honda America, even if it's out of warranty.

@@johnzepezauer6072 thank you for replying. I believe it’s one of the switches like you described. Bought the van new in 2015 now has 161k so I don’t think they will help lol

I had the same problem described here start on my 2016 Odyssey around 105k miles (purchased at 100k miles). This was within 600 miles of doing three drain and fills with DW1 ATF that I did not totally knowing the history of the transmission. Not sure if a coincidence or not that the problem started somewhat soon after the drain and fills. After suggestion from a forum, I replaced the 3rd speed pressure switch and I have not seen the problem for 800 miles.

To the best I can tell I had this issue, changed my pressure switch and it fixed it about a year ago in my 2016 honda odyssey.. I counted gears starting from a stop to figure out which one to change then looked at this graphic that shows which gear was which. czcams.com/video/6slLa_Nw9r0/video.html
