Based on the caveat that players must have either 7500 runs or 150 wickets in ODI's my line up would be Tendulkar, Gilchrist, Sangakkara, Ponting, Kohli, Kallis, de Villiers, Rashid Khan, Starc, Donald and McGrath. I am aware that Rashid Khan and Starc may be somewhat contentious, but Starc averages 1.969 wickets per match and Khan averages 1.887. This is in comparison to Murali averaging 1.525, Akram averaging 1.410 and Younis averaging 1.587. There are many other players who came under consideration and who would rightfully be considered legends of the game, but I feel this team would be very difficult to beat anywhere in the world
Youve got 3 keepers in that side. Id have devilliers as keeper bat. Imagine viv Richards with the bats of today. The best bowler ive ever seen was Akram with possibly warne squeezed in for one of your keepers. Essentially i want players to be able to bat. Thats why Donald wouldnt make my team but hey all in all a good team by u with averages explaining your choices

Viv Richards could be a devastating batter and would be even more dangerous with modern bats; unfortunately he didn't make over 7,500 runs or take 150 wickets throughout is ODI career. In relation to Akram, when I originally picked this side he was in there, but when I was doing some analysis as to who has been the most effective bowlers in ODI Starc, Donald and McGrath all were ahead of Akram in relation to bowling average and strike rate. Cases could certainly be made for the inclusion of Akram, Lee, Pollock, Vaas, Younis and several others. With Warne and Murali they are two absolute legends of the game and as someone who bowled leg spin I idolised Warnie and the way he played the game. But, when I looked at the stats in relation to ODI's Khan once again had the better bowling average and strike rate. Khan is 23 years old and has already taken over 150 ODI wickets. If he can play another 10-15 years at the top level he will overtake all other bowlers in relation to wickets taken as well.

By the way, I see that you have Barry Richards, Sobers and Gavaskar in your team I do not disagree that they are fantastic cricketers but statistically they do not half an international ODI pedigree. However, I do believe they would have had top figures had they played 10 years later. With that in mind you are putting Sunil ahead of Sehwag, who is a much more explosive batsman. @@konradyearwood5845 thanks. The bowling attack in that team is formidable too. Marshall, Akram, Botham and Sobers for pace. Warne, Sobers, Viv Richards, Tendulkar for spin. Kallis for medium pace. I take your point about Barry Richards, Gavaskar and Sobers limited over experience. I saw all of them play one day cricket live. Believe me, they were sensational. Add McGrath as a standby bowler. Pretty hard to beat this team.
@@tomedwards1879 One of the things that I did not mention, but I am sure you are aware, many of the cricketers you have named played most of their One Day cricket in the days before fielding restrictions so I do not doubt Sobers, Sunil etc would have made hay. As for Marshall, well he was one of the smartest bowlers that ever played the game and this might surprise you. When he first got picked for the Windies he was in the team as a batting all rounder! The Windies were using a four man pace attack and Roberts was injured in the First Test against England so they played Marshall. For the Second Test another bowler was injured so Marshall played with Roberts returning. He was so impressive that Lloyd jokingly played him as "the spinner" for the Third Test in a five man pace attack. Imagine Marshall coming on at third change and you asking the umpire for a middle and leg guard with the score 47 - 4. 🤣 Take care Tom.

Gavaskar and Sobers and Barry Richards played in that World XI team. I saw Sobers hit 250 odd against a very good Australian attack that included Dennis Lillee. Malcolm Marshall was a freak too, when he came along. It's very interesting to chat with you.

I'd stack that team up against ANY one day or Test team
With that batting line up I think they could pick me as a bower and still win! By the way, I see that you have Barry Richards, Sobers and Gavaskar in your team I do not disagree that they are fantastic cricketers but statistically they do not half an international ODI pedigree. However, I do believe they would have had top figures had they played 10 years later. With that in mind you are putting Sunil ahead of Sehwag, who is a much more explosive batsman. Damn good Test team though. 🤣

Marshall, Akram, Botham and Sobers for pace.
Warne, Sobers, Viv Richards, Tendulkar for spin.
Kallis for medium pace.
I take your point about Barry Richards, Gavaskar and Sobers limited over experience.
I saw all of them play one day cricket live.
Believe me, they were sensational. Add McGrath as a standby bowler. Pretty hard to beat this team.
@@tomedwards1879 One of the things that I did not mention, but I am sure you are aware, many of the cricketers you have named played most of their One Day cricket in the days before fielding restrictions so I do not doubt Sobers, Sunil etc would have made hay. As for Marshall, well he was one of the smartest bowlers that ever played the game and this might surprise you. When he first got picked for the Windies he was in the team as a batting all rounder! The Windies were using a four man pace attack and Roberts was injured in the First Test against England so they played Marshall. For the Second Test another bowler was injured so Marshall played with Roberts returning. He was so impressive that Lloyd jokingly played him as "the spinner" for the Third Test in a five man pace attack. Imagine Marshall coming on at third change and you asking the umpire for a middle and leg guard with the score 47 - 4. 🤣 Take care Tom.
@@konradyearwood5845 Thanks for that. I'm originally from Australia and saw the World XI play Australia when the Sth African tour was cancelled in the early 1970's.
Gavaskar and Sobers and Barry Richards played in that World XI team.
I saw Sobers hit 250 odd against a very good Australian attack that included Dennis Lillee.
Malcolm Marshall was a freak too, when he came along.
