There were only a few people in Dean's heart and he really loved them from the heart and wanted to protect them and he loved Charlie like a little sister. So you could understand his reaction when he avenged her death.

Their friendship was more than that. When Charlie got killed, Dean absolutely lost it. He ignored any reason that lingered in his brain.
