    Wonderful to see progress, and some of the first passengers on that section in around 70 years.

      They have a lot of work to do to reopen more of the inactive track. It’s been out of service since 1956 and trees grew between the rails and road crossings paved over, bridges need work as well as the two tunnels. This section the other way from the station was traveled before by speeders after the previous ownership restored about a mile of track and the regular train normally uses part of that section to turn on the wye. They want to restore more track that was never used in the tourist era. Like to Saltillo and the tunnels.

    It's awesome to see this kind of work being done to save the EBT, I love narrow gauge trains and it's good to know this one is being cared for.

    Great road work guys ! This is a dream come true. The progress is so far amazing. Can you imagine if the government was doing this work ? The site studies would take years and use up all monies. I plan on a trip north to get my hands dirty working on any job I can.

    Are they extending the East Broad Top Railroad south towards Three Springs, Saltillo and Robertsdale?

    • @steamlogger
      @steamlogger  Před rokem +2

      Yes, they are working towards Saltillo first. The tunnels will need serious attention before trains can run to Robertsdale.

    • @danielfoster3642
      @danielfoster3642 Před rokem +1

      @@steamlogger Wow! Had no idea that they were extending track south of Orbisonia. I've always thought the abandoned EBT track was overgrown and had no use of it anymore. The EBT and the FEBT apparently seem to have a vision for new life on the old abandoned stretch of track from Orbisonia towards Three Springs and Saltillo, and eventually towads Robertsdale. And yes, the EBT Rays Hill and Sideling Hill tunnels do need some serious work.

    Echo the other positive comments. Too bad y'all didn't qualify for some of the $1T infrastructure bill -- seems there would be a strong case for some freight taking trucks off the roads, and so on.

      It's a tourist operation, so I'd doubt they'd ever qualify for funding of that kind. Plus only 10% of the bill actually went to infrastructure.
