When was this?
Awesome 👏
Awesome! I have to admit though, I was a little nervous high-balling down the track when that tree limb showed up on the track...
And thats how its done in the movies, folks!
Why can’t they just push the car?
That is so cool
nice video
Very interesting viewpoint 😊
Do you have an actual carfloat operation too?
No actual carfloat. Just a dock to place cars on. This one was moved a few years ago from Eaton. There is a second dock on three Mile Island that is now just an industry. czcams.com/video/7alQz2VpCO4/video.html
@@steamlogger That would make for an interesting operation though.
Toot toot. Choo choo charlie was a engineer 😂
Thanks for watching
Super. That Geep in the CB&Q Blackbird scheme looked nice, and the "Tonka" flatcar loads made me smile, great rolling stock, neat layout, a nice area, but that Pennsy steamer was superb. Hello from the Tracy Mountain Railway in Colorado. 💙 T.E.N.
The Pennsy is a Godshal H10. They are great engines. Thanks for watching
Most boys go through a train phase, these boys never left it.
Big boy toys.
Amen!!!
Pretty cool way to operate a network of moonshine stills
Just don't get caught drinking and running trains.
Dude's being dudes. This is awesome!
It is a great time.
Is that Mike Mitzel running the CB & Q geep? If it is I've got my 👁on him!!!
Yes it is.
Is GRADAR an actual railroad, or is it your personal short line name? My roadname is Briggs Canyon Railroad.
I am not sure. I bought it painted this way.
What is the mode of transport? Awfully quiet like it is electric! Thank you for the shared trip!
Yes I converted this loco to 24 volt electric drive. Here is a video showing Gradar 75 before conversion. czcams.com/video/ZwBL_1tGfwQ/video.html
@@steamlogger Fantastic, thank you! Do you have any under the hood pictures after conversion? I love the idea as I use a battery zero steer mower on my yard and now drive a Polestar 2 electric car. Thank you again.

@@steamlogger Fantastic! Very interesting set-up. Thank you for sharing.
Does Haviland have its own car mover of some kind? I see tank cars left out in this video behind the curved building and on Google satellite imagery.
I am not sure. They might have to wait for CSX to spot cats. The extra cars would allow for unentrupted raw materials
I've watched this video several times since you posted it --- I always find it fun and relaxing. Of course I've seen many others of your W.C.R.R. videos, but this is the one that keeps calling me back. This is my favorite of all the scale-model train operations videos I've seen. Thank you so much! (p.s. Did they ever get that UFO out of that pit by Appletree, or are they still working on it? I think those workers might be candidates for Russ's Dog House if it doesn't get done!)..... Ken from NYC
The UFO recovery is a government project and has stalled over which department is responsible for cleanup.
That looks like so much fun!
It is always fun. The more crews running the better it is. "Do we help them ot make them wait" LOL
Please keep finding vintage Fostoria videos. I’m from there, brings back memories
I will upload more soon. Thanks for watching.
Great job 👌
Thanks for watching
I was not that far up the same siding the same day you were
I was saw the signal at the east end was lined for the siding and decided the old New Holland crossing location would be a good spot. Thanks for watching.
Great video! Do you have any videos of you guys doing switching and showing all the groundwork?
I have some coming soon
What do you do at Apple tree junction on an open meet when there are a bunch of trains out and that area is unsignaled through the diamond? Have to just stop and look both ways?
The whole railroad is run by restricted speed. Apple Tree Junction you slow down and make sure no other trains are coming. The maple sapling are getting big, making it more difficult to see cross traffic.
Was that Mike’s geep high nose?
Yes it was. I crewed with him one day.
@@steamlogger he’s like a brother to me!

This looks so relaxing! Going for a walk in the woods without having to walk (chuckle)! 😮😂
That is true. Experience nature the easy way.
There was a real life incident of a loose caboose during the filming of the movie, "Union Pacific". A steam hogger got a little careless with the throttle, and pulled the coupler pocket, etc, out of an old wood-frame caboose. This happened at the top of a long slight grade, and the caboose started slowly going downhill. When the actors inside realized what happened, they started bailing out, and one of them was smart enough to give the handbrake a few turns, just enough for the caboose to stop a couple hundred feet from the mainline.
Oops
😂😂…it looks and sounds like the real thing…😂😂. Amazing
It is a lot of fun to run here.
Nice looking rolling stock, hardly any graffiti to ruin them.
And so many roadnames that are no longer around.
Would enjoy this tour immensely in the spring time (more colorful). Thanks for the ride this time and I hope the wild fires don't affect you at all (lots of "fire wood" you are going through)!
I have many shorter clips on my channel. Watch for a new video soon running from Apple Tree Junction to Lake City in June
Love this!
Thanks for watching
What a nice way to just sit back and relax, sadly, i cant do that, as my health has taken a deep dive 😤☹.
I am happy to share with you. It is fun to go for a relaxing ride.
love that little tanker car
It is a fun little car.
There were 10 Peabody mines in the Springfield Illinois area at one time, (my mom did bookkeeping for one of them), but theyre all history now ☹😔.
Thanks for the information. I didn't know they had so many mines.
@@steamlogger Peabody mines #2 & 6 were on opposite ends of Springfield Illinois, #2 was on the far north side, on Walnut Street, while #6 was on the south side, just off Ash Street by the Wabash railroad, my mom was bookkeeper at #6 for a few years. #5 was at Sherman Illinois, and was involved in a few uprisings during the "mine wars" against John L. Lewis, and my late wifes step-grandfather took a point-blank flare from a guardsman in his abdomen. He also was instrumental in getting laws passed to help hundreds of miners affected by "black lung disease", the Smithsonian came to his house to record all the history of his efforts. (Yes, he survived that point-blank flare!) Peabody mine # 10 was located between Pawnee and Kincaid Illinois, and was the last of the Peabody mines to shut down, all its coal was destined for the Chicago area power plants under Commonwealth Edison ownership. Sooooo, how did they get that coal from Kincaid/Pawnee to Chicago? None other than the Chicago and Illinois Midland railway, and, you guessed it!, also owned by Commonwealth Edison. But there was a catch, the C&IM only ran from mine #10 to Peoria Illinois, but, there was an area at Havana that was just perfect for a transloading facility, so the coal went by rail for its first 50 miles, then by river barges the rest of the way. My dad pulled some strings during the summer of 1960, we had a summer house just about a mile north of the coal docks, so, one fine saturday, he rounded up me and my sis, and off we went for a tour of the facility. After we toured the transloading area, my dad snuck off, and left me & sis to ride with the C&IM SW1200 #23 crew for a good 2 hours, how many 9 year old kids get to do that now🤔❓ Better find a couple of high side 40 foot gons to spot at the Peabody mine in Michigan, and have them painted for C&IM.
Thanks for a nice relaxing video, always a pleasure to watch your channel. Loved seeing mayapples in the woods, too.🧓🏻👍🏻
Spring time is my favorite season. Always something new to see.
Why are your color positions reversed? High Green goes on top, yellow in the middle, red on the bottom. Yours are like highway traffic signals.
They are not prototypical as there is only one signal at each passing siding.
damn those trains look like shit. haha
They were quite rough. Money was tight in the 80s. As long as it ran they were used.
Nothing like a crew that is on the ball....
It helps to have a pre trip work review.

I love seeing older videos of the early days diesels! I’m not a fan of the new day Locomotive!
There was much more variety back then. Now most trains have two six axle locomotives.
