Polling started at 7 am and will continue until 5 pm, with an additional hour provided for voters already in line by the Election Commission. Initial reports indicated a 9.3% voter turnout across the 88 constituencies in the first two hours, with Kerala recording 8.52%, Karnataka 9.21%, and Madhya Pradesh 13.82% turnout by 9 am, according to Election Commission data.
Large number of eligible voters
Approximately 15.88 crore voters, including 8.08 crore men, 7.8 crore women, and 5,929 third-gender electors, are eligible to vote in this phase. Among them are 3.28 crore young voters aged 20-29, including 34.8 lakh first-time voters.
मतदान सुबह 7 बजे शुरू हुआ और शाम 5 बजे तक जारी रहेगा, चुनाव आयोग द्वारा पहले से ही लाइन में लगे मतदाताओं के लिए एक अतिरिक्त घंटे का प्रावधान किया गया है। चुनाव आयोग के आंकड़ों के मुताबिक, प्रारंभिक रिपोर्टों में पहले दो घंटों में 88 निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों में 9.3% मतदान होने का संकेत दिया गया, जिसमें केरल में 8.52%, कर्नाटक में 9.21% और मध्य प्रदेश में 13.82% मतदान हुआ।
बड़ी संख्या में पात्र मतदाता
इस चरण में लगभग 15.88 करोड़ मतदाता, जिनमें 8.08 करोड़ पुरुष, 7.8 करोड़ महिलाएं और 5,929 तीसरे लिंग के मतदाता शामिल हैं, मतदान करने के पात्र हैं। इनमें 20-29 आयु वर्ग के 3.28 करोड़ युवा मतदाता हैं, जिनमें 34.8 लाख पहली बार मतदान करने वाले मतदाता भी शामिल हैं।
