That would've been the case had Nvidia stuck to their own naming scheme. A poorly designed product is worse than an overly priced one. 4060 cards are actually 4050 cards and there're more than a few reasons to think so. For starters, the memory bus is smaller than 3060 and 3060ti cards and this is the prime reason why 4060ti 16gb edition is still underdelivering. Because they chose to name them 4060 instead of 4050, sellers will ALWAYS charge more for the cards than they're worth, even with the upcoming massive price cuts.

Im super confused, because the 4060 ti isn't "future proof" but the 3050 is. If they are both 8vram then how is it? I did some research and the rtx 3060 is futureproof because the minimum vram is 12gb for today. But it has 8gb vram too
the VRAM increase in Ti variants is often for workstations where VRAM is more important than cuda cores. It literally halves the render time.

All Nvidia cards of the 4000 series have half the bit structure of their predecessors and the 4090s are useless for production tasks because they can't be NV linked. It's Your Fault.

The 4060 and 4060 Ti are not bad GPUs. They work just fine. What they are are 4050 and 4050 Ti. That is the issue. They are no longer giving you top middle for mid range. They are giving you bottom low, a 4050, and they raised the price past what a 4050 should be. In fact they raised the price on both GPUs past what a x060 should be while giving you an x050 in specs. That is the issue. The price is too high and the performance to little.

@@plasmahvh First, I never did. Midrange is around $300 after tax and ship. The fact that they want $500 for midrange is the issue. Oil is cheaper a barrel than a decade ago and we still pay $5 a gallon. The world is getting massively greedy. BTW, milk has doubled in price in the last 20 years and that's about it. 4060 ti is the best, it is not about raw performance the power efficiency of this card is just insane and deliver amazing higher frame rates for the low 120 watts
For anyone wanting to save money or have no need to upgrade later on, the 4060 ti 16gb is a good decision, its less power hungry than any of the 30 series and performs at a good experience for high settings or competitive setting for the time being

DLSS 3 on rtx4060ti can achieve frames of rtx3090 previous dlss enabled + you are getting AV 1 enocder which does not sound interesting for lot of people but actually is really good feature, after all you have new GPU
people don't understand that dlss will be a big deal, and new gpus will last longer now especially the 40 series that why nvidia rised prices , the 4060 ti 16gb is a really good deal, dlss will get better and better and u will have that extra vram for the future

16 gig 4060 ti is brilliant for AI. You’ll fit a chat bot on there…and you will have no issues with stable diffusion. This is what happens when it becomes singularly focused on gaming.

@tidep More future proof in terms of raw output to be sure, my standard 4060 8GB however runs basically any game high to ultra, 1080p to 1440p at a minimum of 60fps. In a gen I may struggle but by that point I'll either get the 4070 super, or the 5060. DLSS and Frame Generation help a hell of lot with 8GB VRAM, I'm getting performance that specs wise I shouldn't really be getting with the raw output of a 4060. Software such as DLSS and FSR will keep cards going for longer than originally expected.

it only bad if u are upgrading to it , but getting it for the first time it a really good upgrade, u got 16 gb vram, dlss3, u will have a good gaming experience in 1080p and 1440p for a solid at least 3 years until new generations comes out and price will drop then u can upgrade to better and it continues like that
I have a 3060ti 8gb and am looking to upgrade to the 4060ti 16gb. I need the extra vram due to graphic design but don't want to pay ridiculous prices for scalped 70s and 80s. I'm not a serious gamer and for me, this graphic card is perfect. Though knowing I'll be able to play games on the side is a plus.

Yeah. Though that's a card meant for 1080p. Anything higher and you'll have to tweak/lower some settings, due to the small 128 bus and less shaders than a 3070.

4060 and 4060 Ti are not bad GPU, as long as they got reasonable price. Their power efficiency is superb and 16GB VRAM (for stable diffusion and future proofing) are just what I needed.
I mean, with the lower tdp, dlss 3.0, frame gen though? It might be worth it for 100-150 less, sure its overpriced right now, but it might become the staple of budget gaming in the next 1 or 2 years into the future, at a price point of maybe 250 used and 300 brand new, that and you would only need a lower wattage psu too(500-550w). overall would be a perfect budget gaming computer

For my GPU uprade my first thought was to go with the 4060ti at first, but after both watching this short and other reviews i think il decide to go team red, the rx 6750xt is prob gonna be the sweet spot for my 5600x
Same originally I was going to go 3060 ti or 3070 but the 8GB of VRAM and the $100-$250 increase in price over the 6750xt made it a clear winner and I gotta say this thing is a beast at 1440p/144hz gaming.

As someone who’s currently building a PC and has had a 3060 in the past I think the 4060 is pretty decent since the current price is around 250 and when the 3060 is 300 dollars it makes sense even if the quality is improving only 2% that’s still better and cheaper but I see where you were coming from as it used to be 400 dollars

The 4060 TI is my first ever graphics card and coming with my pre-build, it was a pretty good deal. Completely out performs the integrated graphics I had on my Steam Deck, exceeded my expectations, and even though it might not be the greatest graphics card in terms of price, I’m certainly happy with it.

looking at the full feature set, there is nothing quite like the 4060 at $300 or below. that being said, the pure gaming power of the 4060 (aka rasterization) isn't quite up to par with the competition.
the radeon rx 6600 xt and 6650 xt would outclass it in value as they're both well below $300 with similar rasterization but worse rt and no cuda.
even the 3060 12g, which has 50% more vram, similar raster, and most of the nvidia features except av1 and dlss3, would be a better value in my eyes

The 4060 will crush any AMD rdna2 GPU below a 6800 in pathtracing. Don't listen to the AMD shills, the 4060 is a perfect starter GPU at $300, the 7600 isn't even close.

Also this vidro dishonestly leaves out the price of the 12gb 3060 being more expensive, the proper comparison is the 8gb 3060 which the 4060 does beat.

I've got one in my system and don't have any regrets about it. This video aged like milk. A RX 6750 XT is a decent AMD alternative, but it fails mightily if you turn on ray tracing. Right now they are both the same price.
The RX 7700XT is $100 more and STILL can't beat a 4060TI 8GB if you are using ray tracing.

@@brandons91386750xt = same price as 4060ti for me it’s just do you want the vram or Nvidia features. The 7700xt performs overall Better then the 4060ti but one of the Nvidia features is the day tracing for example so it’s obvious. It also has less input lag and usually beter DLSS

@@yayyabo28 That's only if you buy into 12GB is needed to run games bullshit. Right now a 4060 8 GB and 4060 16 GB show very little performance difference. All you end up doing is paying more far a card that won't take advantage of all of that vram. Yes there are certain games that seem to struggle with only 8GB of vram. Then there are games that don't have any issues. Is that the fault of the hardware or the software? I'd be willing to bet is has more to do with the software than the hardware. If 8 gb was really too small then more games would have issues with it. When it comes down to raw rasterization power the 4060 is about 7-10% faster at 1080P vs the 3060. If you look on YT for 4060 8gb vs 4060 16GB you'll see that they run at the same speeds. Even in games like Hogwarts Legacy. A game that is known to punish GPUs.
If 16GB was really need then developers would be up shit creek seeing as the XBox series S has 8GB of vram. That would mean a large portion of the Xbox user base would have shitty performance. the PS5 has 16 of total ram for both video and OS memory from what I can find. So that begs the question why we'd need more on a PC than what the current gen consoles have available. The truth is that consoles become the lowest common denominator in the gaming space a few years after launch. That is what developers aim for as that is the biggest installed base of users. As far as "future proof" goes, just forget about it. There is no such thing in this market. Buy a card that fits your needs now for the best price you can. Knowing full well that in 2 years or so you'll have to lay out more cash for another card. Cards at the mid/low range are never going to last more than a couple of years. They'll fall behind in rasterization power long before they run into any other limits.
According to Tom's Hardware guide the 4060 value per dollar king at 1440P.
