  • 💭 You can never have enough tools and I needed one to rejoin a motorcycle engine. It was taken apart using another tool that worked, so I figured, why not use a similar branded tool to put it back together. Didn't work.

    Here's a really good tip for case assembly. Find 3 or 4 long bolts the same as case bolts and cut the heads off, beveling the stud and cutting a screwdriver slot in them. This way You can put these in to align the case halves close enough for assembly. I've made a couple different sets for a few jobs, and always find another use for them, being it lining up a clutch or alternator cover or holding a spring loaded cover for assembly.

    I love all the bearing and shaft tools. We didn't have any of that when I worked on Helicopters in the Army. But I have a full set of wheel and head bearing pullers. They are fun to use.

      My wheel bearing tools have failed me bad. Or maybe my strength because I’ve only been able to remove 2 bearings so far. 😂 I’ve thrown heat, punches, bombs and body builder imaginary strength at those wheels and STILL.. they laugh back.

    I am not a mechanic but like many motorcycle enthusiasts, I do my own work and upgrades. So far Stage 2 on my 2017 Chieftain. I think it would be great if you do a video on upgrading a late model 111 to Stage 3 This will be my next project once my warranty is up. I think many home mechanics would love to see a Stage 3 kit upgrade video. While having the manual and instructions is essential the video is worth 1000 pages of manual.

    I would use Yamabond 4 on the case halves mating surfaces. I have never had a leak with that stuff!

    Dude!!!! You got more guts than I do… I don’t think I would ever attempt splitting the cases… good job!!! 👍👍

      It’s really not bad at all. I had the case together last night and had to take it back apart. Gasket and everything was on but the transmission shift drum wasn’t mounted correctly. Took less than 10 minutes between take the 18 screws back out and splitting the case with the tool. Took me over an hour the first time.

    I have a lathe and good access to solid brass profiles: i like making tools like these for my shovelheads myself.

      One day I’ll get there. I’ll need a shop by then haha

      @@BrandonBicasso well its only a desktop model-makers lathe but you can do a lot on those... no need for a shop

    The blue spacer would have solved the issue over the 2 rods. But glad to see you so very careful about this build. I'd have gone ham with a hammer, bolts and crossed my fingers.

    • @BrandonBicasso
      @BrandonBicasso  Před rokem +2

      Yep, it would have but that tool didn’t come with those rods. So, I kept it based on what came with what.

    Watching your videos have been addicting and very inspiring but in a scary way asi currently own a 2003 yamaha v star 1100 witch has recently had some transmission issues and no shop I have found as of yet will touch it so after watching your videos I've decided to undergo the repairs myself wish me luck I'll very much need it!!!!!

    • @BrandonBicasso
      @BrandonBicasso  Před rokem +1

      You can definitely do it. Just understand it's your first time so it'll take longer. When I first tore apart the motor, it took days to do it. I can confidently do this in a few hours now.

    So there's no kind of gasket material (sealant) that goes between the engine halves?

    why I thought this was the engine with the roaches lord Jesus thought I was about to see something .The right tool can really make a job super easy but I often find that I never have the right one until after I need it ....
