You guys should definitely add a dishonorable mention section where you place cards like either heart and mind slaver
SCAM
I'm doing a from-scratch deck with ashnod and abusing mindslaver
Why are these cards dishonorable?
Would be interesting to see an upgrade guide that only use old-border cards, to maintain the 'physical' flavour of the deck.
That's what I'm personally doing with this deck. Trying to decide between Ashnod or Mishra
@@shesgard37 I'm currently setting up a template to turn all the tokens into '90s Player Rewards style ones.
This is what I’m doing. Hopefully they keep rolling out old borders in the future
You don't need a guide. Build your own. Look online at what cards are available in old bordered
I build mines using retro or old borders cards only and it’s looking amazing especially the foiling
Add:
Enthusiastic Mechanaut
Etherium Sculptor
Aether Spellbomb
Skysovereign Consul Flagship
Delina, Wild Mage
Karlach, Fury of Avernus
Goblin Engineer
Arcum Daggson
Thunderhawk Gunship
Gonti’s Aether Heart
Nautiloid Ship
Cards to Cut:
Prophetic Prismk
Geth, Lord of the Vault
Workshop Elders
Hellkite Igniter
Metalwork Colossus
Scavenged Brawler
Blast-Furance Hellkite
Traxos, Scourge of Kroog
Muzzio, Visionary Achitect
Mirrorworks
Honorable Mentions:
Bloodthirster
Sundial of the Infinite
Obeka, Brute Chronologist
Mindslaver
Thank you!!

I think they should have an updated deck list in these videos, that’d be cool
one thing about Mirrorworks is that it's very good in decks that run a lot of 'big' mana rocks that come into play untapped. Thran Dynamo, Gilded Lotus, Hedron Archive, Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, etc. - because they pay for their own copy!
These old bordered Commander Decks have me feeling like a kid in the candy store. I’m pumped.
@@lunarlight3131 I started before the modern card frames so the old borders really speak to me.
@@LVMTG I feel this. I'm happy that they're bringing them back. Wish they would foil them the old way as well. TSR nailed it.
@@Torsav If it was the old school foiling technique, I don’t think my little cardboard addicted mind could handle it.
@@LVMTG Same boat, buddy! I pulled a foil Mulldrifter from TSR and was super hyped!
I started in 2011 i like old frames
Josh passively talking shit about sponsors' requests is the best segment I could've asked for in a budget upgrade video
I don't think that's a sponsor? They probably sent them a not-so-nicely-worded letter reminding them that Warhammer 40,000 is a trademark and that they can only use it in this and that way... and they're getting the malicious compliance they deserve for that crap.
@@therealax6 very true, I suppose Sponsor wasn't the correct word, I just feel as though something like this has been brewing under the surface for Josh for a while between sponsors and specific requests and such, gotta love all the CZcams comments correcting them on something they don't have a say in hahah
Another great card is Irenicus’ Vile Duplication. Make a nonlegendary copy of Mishra for an extra trigger each combat
MTG missed the opportunity to send the book back to print. One of their best books overall.
Bought it on Kindle and read it just last week
Started re-reading it. Both hard copy and kindle versions
I had the whole story from thr Thran up to Mirrodin. I've no idea what I did with them after I left Uni, nearly 20yrs ago.
I bought it at a half price and it is SO GOOD
A few cards I’ve added that makes people really unhappy making pain with minimal effort is Unwinding Clock and Chaos Wand, then they can’t destroy them if you’ve played Trading Post cuz you’ll just get them back from the graveyard and I also added Darksteel Froge and Platinum Angel for absurd destruction, just a few cards I’ve added
This video was great help to make my deck better, thanks and much love ❤ continue the hard work 😂
I’m very late, but something cool that seems to have gone overlooked is that Mishra changes the name of the token to “Mishra’s warform”. What this does is that it actually gets around the legendary rule and allows you to have two legendary artifacts on the field at the same time. This could be relevant for Gonti’s aether heart, since you don’t need to immediately sac one to the legend rule when it comes into play
They mention that in the video
You missed some VERY spicy cards...
Saverek's Tome - Get the initiative EVERY TURN (and extra mana to boot)
Wishclaw Talisman - TUTOR!!!
And the spiciest of all?
Retributive Wand
Looks like janky junk, until you realize...
When it hits the grave, it does 5 damage to any target!!!
So, smack with it for the 4, and then pop it for 5 more!
You should do special edition upgrades to both decks, where you add only cards that have old border version
So glad you guys have the whole crew helping out with all these product release episodes! Love seeing what kinds of adds different players suggest. Also can't wait for whatever your next podcast episode is. Still crossing fingers for one on removal/interaction!
One aspect about Blast-Furnace Hellkite you havent talked about is that artifact offering allows you to play him with flash which allows you to play him when an opponent attacks another opponent and make an attack leathal after blocks.
I really like Altar of the Goyf in this deck! It has the Lhurgoyf type built in, so it gives itself trample when Mishra copies it lol. Plus multiple copies can stack up for a big swing
That is amazing!
Niceee, id say it's a good boardwipe punish because it'll probably be the only creature you'll attack with at that point, there will be less blockers, and potentially more card types will be in grave now due to the board wipe.
Like, Eminence is a bad ability which should basically be a 12 on the storm scale for Commander products...
But it feels like a missed opportunity for Mishra, Eminent One.
Sadge
I guess the issue is that every eminence ability can be extremely strong.
Even something like "whenever you cast your first artifact spell each turn, scry 1" could snowball.
@@therealax6 yeah. Eminence is basically, "Free something, always".
Anyone notice that Josh says “go ahead Jimmy” as they head into the stats? 😂
Blast-Furnace Hellkite has such a cool art, gotta play it for that alone
And I gotta play it because I literally work on blast furnaces
I think retributive wand is a really strong and cheap card to add to this deck, it synergises so well with Mishra's ability
Sure cardkingdom gets your cards out in hours, after a 3 day processing time. Don't get me wrong I love cardkingdom but theyr a lot slower than they used to be
Yeah and they’re also generally pricier. Guess it makes sense because they’re the most popular seller so demand is higher but idk it certain cards are even up to $10 cheaper somewhere else
It really is slower these days. I think I get cards from tcgplayer faster most of the time
I really really really appreciate these great upgrade guides coming out in time for me to gather the cards so I can upgrade the deck and play when it's actually released thank you thank you so much
Nice. Finally I found a good vehicle commander. Gonna build around it😁.
imposter mech would also fit nicely in this deck.
And it has the may clause, that means you could let it still enter as imposter mech since it's a 3/1 it won't die immediately even if you crew it afterwards. Almost same effect as the effegy.
Just finished the Urza episode and discovered this went live, awesome!
Wish claw talisman and reckless fire weaver. Both PERFECT for this deck. If you don't add those, then your missing out!
arcmage
I think it needs to be stated that with Machine God's Effigy, while you are able to copy a creature on its initial etb, once its in play, any copy effects will copy what is already in play. Once you copy something, it loses its etb to copy, so you would just make a 4/4 of whatever MGE came in as that taps for U when you copy it with Mishra
Yeah Jamie was saying that sometimes you elect to *not* apply the replacement effect and have it just come in as a rock, then Mishra's trigger will make a copy that has a fresh replacement effect to copy a new choice every trigger, instead of having it locked to the copiable values of the original effigy copying something
@@jaggedeagle well it say you may on the card so simply put
@@jaggedeagle that's all fine and dandy, I was more just stating for those that may not know how that works.
Hmm, maybe it's just me, but Card Kingdom has had 3+ day processing on everything I've ordered for the last 3 months. Can't really keep calling it freaky fast shipping.
I love card kingdom but yeah have to agree.
It’s been suggested before CK might push out orders faster to Jimmy and Josh
Every Ouran shout-out deserves major props.
Bro, machine gods effigy makes you able to copy wurmcoil engine and just have a shit ton of the 3/3's after you have to sac it
The Brothers War looks like the best release in a while!
12:38 I swear that exactly this moments an ad came on that said "6 bucks for all that?" And I was like, whaaaaaa? 🤣
Added a transplant theorist to the deck and had it and Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain out and played a bunch of artifacts so I ended up with twelve cards in my hand
Prized Statue from Baldur's Gate is ridiculous for this deck. Imagine instead of drawing two cards with Ichor Wellspring, you can make two Treasures a turn.... Hell, I kept it so both are in the deck!
Cursed Mirror looks great in the old frame
The Heart! The only thing running in my head all this time LOL
i will put a Bloodforged Battle-Axe...pretty awesome combo with mishra.
And imposter mech and saheeli the gifted and Drach'Nyen.
And i forgot about jester cap and illuminor Szeras!
I don't see any combo with Mishra and battle axe. Literally none of the lines of text do anything when you turn it into a creature.
also 6 removals but add the spellbombs. got 4 decent ones that can kill creatures or draw cards
No idea how the burnout hasn't set in yet. I feel like you guys are releasing these things daily now.
WOW...Almost to Episode 500! ‼
Delina, wild mage would actually work with mishra because mishra triggers at the beginning of combat; whereas, delina triggers when she attacks
Yes, but what they wanted to do was create multiple Mishras for their copy effect, and that one won't work because the copies made with Delina aren't there for the Beginning of combat step
So excited for this episode
I am curious, are we going to watch those two Game Knights Games from Magic 30 on here?
I hope so!!!
super cool, tho i really wish they released these in legible border
Bought it. Can’t wait. Really interested to see how it works! :D
Jamie reminds me so much of the dude with the glasses from tap tap concede
Geth, Lord of the Vault seems to only be in to show the added Phyrexian creature type. :)
I added Hammer of Purphoros. 1MM Legendary Enchantment Artifact. Creatures you control have Haste. 2M tap: sacrifice land create 3/3 Golem artifact enchantment creature.
I really want one but i also really want painbow. $80 down the hole i guess :3
I’ll vote for painbow. The deck is an absolute blast to pilot. I love 5C decks so it’s right in my wheelhouse. So much fun!
Urzas deck is really good out of the box and upgrades are super easy, can't wait to tinker with my moshra deck
if i’m thinking thru the triggers and restrictions correctly, i believe the blue mana artifact + Bloodthirster is infinite combat steps. each combat, you make a copy of the non-creature mana artifact, which ETB’s as a new Mishra’s Warform that doesn’t have a restriction on which players it can attack. since each new Mishra’s Warform can get the Bloodthirster trigger and restart combat, that’s a table wipe assuming no flying blockers or removal
Yeah, if you make a noncreature Bloodthirster, you go infinite or almost. And remember that, if you attack with multiple of them in some combat (the tokens stick around until end of turn), you get multiple extra combats (use some dice or something to keep track of the "stashed" extra combats), so even if you can't get in cleanly at the end, you can retrigger Mishra for more tokens and more attackers. (The "stashed" extra combats don't cause any untaps, though, so be careful with that.)
To me Urza is simple and straightforward..
I call those types of decks auto drive decks but Mishra on the other hand I can’t just use the same game plan and create a whole bunch of menace artifact creature 10/10s every game.
I have to use what I have, play around and survive on the board.
Command Zone blooper real would be fun
Scavenged Brawler would go great in a Denry Klin, Editor in Chief deck
Nautiloid ship doesn't work the way they think. The effect is attached to the new nautiloid ship token not to any cards in exile.
I can’t wait for those decks
one card you definitely should not cut from this deck is mirrorworks. Also in the spirit of constructive criticism, in a deck with only 21 creatures plus mishra cards like Etherium Spinner, Sai Master thopterist, efficient construction, mirrodin besieged and saheeli sublime artificer should really be considered so that you have a steady stream of blockers at least.
You could keep traxos in for combo potential. It retraction helix ornithoptor and something like altar of the brood to do stuff with the infinite bounce is fair and most groups won't complain about a 4 card ez to stop combo
This new Mishra is going right into my Obeka deck. Even though it's not an artifact-focused deck, being able to make permanent 4/4 copies of my mana rocks is still nice.
That Ashnod kinda feels like Verrak in a way, how they both copy things based on paying non-mana costs.
Scavenged Brawler is great for Voltron decks, giving plenty of relevant keywords and a decent pump.
Blast-Furnace Hellkite is actually a really nice card. Offering gives it flash, and the last ability is a static ability and not triggered, so you can potentially wait for one opponent to attack another opponent, then flash it out to cause their attack to be a surprise kill or something.
I actually found replacing my Obeka deck with this much more fun. It's more consistent, fun to play against, and there is less risk of the plan being fumbled. And Obeka just slots into this deck just fine without a whole strategy shift.
Mindslaver + Ashnod is gonna be so fun.
Tezzeret, Master of the Bridge seems like an absolute no brainer in this deck
I love your heroic version of Blorpityblorpboop. "Then today our people go to war." I didn't espect that from a sticker collector.
when you said he’s 5/4 I thought you were talking about his height for some reason and I genuinely got confused but it’s power and toughness lmaooooo
I love mirrorworks.
omg they fit brudiclad's new type line on a card
New to Magic, so sorry if this common knowledge. I want to put the Obeka, Brute Chronologist into the deck. I am concerned with how Mishra's text reads; if I use Obeka to end my turn with Obeka before the End phase I get to keep my Mishra's Warform(what ever I turned into), but does it go away at the next players end phase? Mishra Eminent One's text says "Sacrifice it at the begining of the next end step".
The way you use Obeka or Sundial of the Infinite is that they end the turn. Mishra's ability to sacrifice the token is a triggered ability("at end of turn, sacrifice"). You move to your end step, and the trigger goes on the stack to sacrifice it. You activate Obeka/Sundial while the trigger is on the stack, ending the turn right there, *and removing all abilities and spells on the stack when you do it.*
In short, Mishra's end step sac ability only cares about the end step during the turn it was created. Activating Obeka while that trigger is on the stack, removes it from the stack. That end step IS the "next end step".
Mirrorbox is fun to play with in the deck.
With Mishra and sundial making more and more tokens I'd copy darksteel citadel. I'd even be tempted to actually use darksteel ingot in that case
I'm soooo torn on which of these decks I want XD I got into paper with Shorikai, so all these artifacts are great but they're gonna break the bank at this rate lol...
I would never mix those hideous new frame cards in with this beautiful old frame deck.
I always tell myself I'm going to go budget on these precon upgrades. Keep things fun and casual.
I alway fail. Magic is expensive! lol
>.
I feel like twinning staff would be an interesting add. I don't know how copying it will stack with its own effect.
You would only be able to make one copy of the Twinning Staff with Mishra's ability because cards are only considered spells when they're on the stack. But if you did have 2 Twining Staff in play and you copy a spell you would get 2 additional copies of that spell.
Mishra with brudiclad in play is insane with whatever you are trying to do because im pretty sure mishra only checks the one token it creates where as brudiclad lets you make all tokens you have currently in play copies of any other token. Correct me if im wrong. Triggered are at choice on how they trigger. So you have mishra trigger to make a copy of an etb artifact or like a sol ring or arcane signet. Then you have brudiclad make a 2/1 myr and then have each token you have at the current become a copy of mishras token (the 4/4 construct) which because of the way its worded. You would only have to sacrifice the original construct created with mishra and have however many other 4/4 copies for use in any way
Correct me if im wrong about how those two cards work, but nothing says this creature has "sacrifice it at the beginning of the next end step"
I've a problem with ruling: the copy tokens made with Mishra gain the supertype "Legendary" if they are copy of legendary permanents? it's not clear at all and i want to be sure of what I play. (sorry for any error... I'm from Italy and my english is not perfect)
TEAM MISHRA!!!
Maybe I'm an idiot here, but doesnt the "gontis aetherheart" combo not work as described, since it's legendary, and mishras copy effect doesn't remove the legendary subtype, meaning you'd immediately have to sac one of them, so they won't both be around to give you an additional 2 energy counters on next Artifact cast?
It changes the name so doesn't legend rule itself
@@philipswinfield2332 oh, ok. Thanks. I was so confused
14:35 in a couple years way faster now that you said so lol
Skullclamp doesnt seem too bad pay one each turn to draw 2 card when the Warform dies.
Or just copy wellspring and draw two cards for free
Skullclamp only draws you cards when the *equipped creature* dies. Unless you're talking about equipping the Warform that you just made, which would need some instant speed equip shenanigans.
@@weirdo82Yeah I equip my skullclamp to my warform token, for 1 mana it isn't a bad cost to pay each turn to get 2 cards when you sac the warform. My deck I have some good payoffs for sacing the warform early in 2nd main instead of waiting for endstep.
@@proteus404 No, I get that, I misread your comment. I thought you were saying that the Warform dying draws you cards by itself. Don't mind me, I've seen several people misunderstand how it works, and thought you were doing the same. Your comment initially sounded like you were just making a copy of skullclamp and sacking it(without equipping or any other steps).
It's a fine idea, just misread, my bad.
I just wantnold border basic lands from those decks...
Will you be uploading Game Knights Live?
can someone make a list of the cards I should add and replace? Already saw the vid, but damn, now I need to watch it again if I want to actually add cards to my shopping cart.
Sundial would be a bad add, because it won't work as you think it will. Read the last sentence on Mishra. Sacrifice the token at the beginning of the NEXT end step. Meaning if you use Sundial, it will stay alive, yes. But at the end step of your opponent, you have to sac it.
It does work actually! You just have to put the sacrifice trigger on the stack at the end step, then activate sundial which gets rid of everything on the stack! Then once that delayed trigger has fired once it doesn't fire again. It's a little tricky but it works!
@@JordanPridgen You would have to use sundial at the end of EACH players turn though. The card says "Sacrifice it at the beginning of the next end step" and NOT "at the beginning of YOUR next end step". So you use the sundial ending your turn, opponent #1, their end step, trigger to sac them goes on the stack. You'd need to use Sundial again. Therefore, you'd need something like an Unwinding clock (which I just got from a Brothers War pack a few hours ago). to be able to do the sundial every turn.
@@Kinson007 nope! I understand why you think that, but a delayed trigger like that only goes off once. It doesn't re-fire every end step from then on. That's how all the tricky sundial decks work.
The key here is when you end the turn with cards like sundial or Obeka, it exiles all abilities on the stack. So if you end the turn with the ability to sacrifice the token on the stack, then the ability goes away forever and you never need to sacrifice the token. Pretty sweet.
I'm adding contagion engine tbh
mirror works is a bit high but its also copied by mishra. 5 mana to copy and then maybe you can trigger them fore more and more copies. if you get 1 additonal copy then it copies artifacts twice for 4 mana. then 3 for 6 ect.
wait for skysoverign if the name changes does the etb still trigger>?
One rules question I cannot seem to find an answer for is:
If you have Machine God Effigy (while it's just an artifact) or Cursed Mirror become the Mishra's Warform. Then have them enter as a copy of a creature, does the token still have the name Mishra's Warform or is it replaced with the name of the creature the effect is copying?
I'm not really qualified to answer this, but take Cursed Mirror for example. As soon as you play it it itself becomes a copy of a creature until end of turn; in that case, is it still a valid target for Mishra's ability?
@@DiogenesNephew Cursed Mirror is an optional Static Ability. As it enters you can choose to have it become a copy of a creature.
I'm just trying to understand if CM or Machine God Effigy are not a copy of anything, whether they lose the name "Mishra's Warform" if you choose to apply that Static Ability. My guess is because the word "except" is used it would still retain the name and be a 4/4 Construct. But I'm not 100% on that.
I got my answer. If you target Cursed Mirror with Mishra, Eminent One, and choose for it to enter as a creature on the field, it will lose the name Mishra's Warform and the other stats set by Mishra's ability until end of turn.
They should have named it "Mishra's Mad Mechanicians"
So with mishra it says sacrifice the copy token on the next end step that wouldn't work with obeka cause we would haft to ask our opponents to skip their end step allowing us to keep our copy token am I right or did I get it wrong?
Once the ability has been put on the stack it can’t go back since it’s already put it’s delayed trigger on the stack
If you use In Too Deep you can turn a creature into a Clue but then if Mishra copies it out becomes the original right? Are there any amazing combos you can do with this, like the creature that gives you an additional combat?
Can anyone explain the rules on all these ETB effects for these artifacts or even the combo in this upgrade list? If Mishra changes the name do they even happen? if the artifact for example "When Nautiloid ship enters the battlefield, exile target players graveyard" You make a copy of Nautiloid ship with mishra but its name is Mishras warform so when the copy ETBs its not the original name right like stated in the text of the card? If anyone could explain I would appreciate it
When a card ability references the name of the card, it's tied to the card, not literally referencing that name. You can think of it saying "this permanent" instead of "Nautiloid Ship"; the copy would say "When Mishra's Warform enters the battlefield, exile target players graveyard" instead
for sundial of the infinite the tokens go away at the next end step so if you don't have an end step the next persons end step will still happen and they will get sacrificed
You wait for the sacrifice triggers to go on the stack on your end step, then activate Sundial of the Infinite. You still get an end step, you're just ending your "end step" step.
I know this may be a weird question but could you bring back deck doctors or how to build a deck for a certain commander
where can I watch the live game nights with this deck?
They cut all the creatures lol
Hey would you be able to exile Mishra warform mechatitan core while keeping the original mechatitan core on the board, thereby being able to repeatedly replace the super Titan
Geth was probably added because he is Phyrexian now
How about Prized Statue? two treasure everyturn
With Mindslaver, when their turn starts, can I just tell the player I'm controlling "You concede."?
You may not.
I couldn't disagree more on mirrorworks. It sticks around and you don't need 10+ mana and need to do it all in one turn. This synergizes way too well with the other copy ETB artifacts to cut
What is the dice tray showed at 3:49? I can't find it online! :(
Would Teferi's Veil keep the Warform tokens from being sacrificed?
