@@w-james9277source material isn’t on the same level though because Fire and Blood is one book written like a history book, whereas ASOIAF is actually a collection of novels with a lot of dialogue and details for the writers to take from
lol I feel Ray with this one, its funny when a show is so good that you put if off to mentally prepare for it. When you're busy and stressed with work, have to be in the right space to take it on

Shogun will eligible for the upcoming Emmys. House of the Dragon S2 premiered in June though, so it won’t be eligible until the 2025 Emmy’s, along with The Boys S2 and The Bear S3 (S2 of The Bear is this year’s Emmys as well)
One thing that HBO does well is doing proper one hour long episodes that feel like an event. This episode I think didn't reach an hour but still way better than Disney Plus stupid under 40 minutes episodes. 🤮

I really hate the Game of Thrones/House of the Dragon community on twitter. All they do is bitch about the show. We're literally watching one of the best shows television and they just nit pick the hell out of it
That is mostly from book readers who hate any changes made to the story even though the book is based on is hearsay so it’s known that what’s written to have happened might not have gone down the way it was presented

I knew what was going to happen (as anyone who read the books would have a overall roadmap what all goes down) but STILL it gets me.

Daemon is always right. Daemon told Rhaenys in episode 1 they need to tag team Vhagar he was told no now look at her. She could have had the GOATS Daemon and Caraxes with her now she dead. When he finds out I can’t help but think he will laugh about it.

@@jbiz979 I’m on the second book on grr’s series. Haven’t read lord of the rings yet but I loved the films. It’s always best when the creators really understand the work and carefully craft it into a great script like HOD.
Star Wars has never had great writing going back to Lucas’ days. It would be a bit jarring if all of a sudden it had HBO style writing. Part of its charm is the pulpy, 50’s serial style writing
@@joshhunt4146 I agree it wasn’t the best, but it was for the time and the story led somewhere important. Most of the stuff now is just dumb as hell except for andor and a good episode here n there.
Only thing i disagree on is that the best parts were not the dragons. The dragon battle was so full of great narrative and emotion through action. Stellar stuff. Also the boys has not been good this year...wtf. the writing is actually bad "and then this happened" nonsense.

Eligibility deadline for Emmys this year has passed, Shogun is eligible, this season of House of the Dragon isnt. It will be eligible for next years Emmys. So Shogun will still win everything

Most of the episode to me felt like the closest they’ve gotten to filler but the end was obviously the end and to me elevated the episode back to the shows usual quality.
The best thing about this show is the dialogue and interactions between the characters. You only need to listen closely., you not going to get battles and fights all the time, there's none in the next episode. You might as well stop watching and wait for ep 8, season finale for another battle!
I hope you don't get another battle sequence for 20+ episodes if this is how you treat character-focused storytelling.
Dude, this is House of the dragon. If you want action go watch anime where almost every episode there's fighting or war involved. 😂😂😂😂
Unless im mistaken this is only the second battle in the series? And I love this show. Think you all are misunderstanding my comment. Still thought the first part of the episode was perfectly passable. Just didn’t find the character interactions in this episode along with Daemons fever dream to be quite as engaging/meaningful as what we’ve gotten previously.
@@CeciditLux I get your perspective, really. However, those scenes were meant to advance and for character building. Firstly, Daemon symbolism of having “blood in his hands” and his past mistakes haunting him, so that when he changes his ways it makes sense, whilst gathering the much needed army in the future. 2nd scene we learned that Corlys’s has two bastards sons hidden under the tides and apparently, his wife knew about it all along. Alicent getting rid of Fetus, she’s not perfect after 😂 and very much conflicted after she learned about the truth. At the green council Aegon seeks respect to know avail (weaknesses) and his council members would rather listen to 2nd son and the black council true reflection of misogynistic tendencies, worse with Rhaenyra’s absence until Corlys assert his MALE dominance. I probably missed some but these scenes may seem trivial and waste of time but they come in full effect. That being said I definitely get you bro! I saw few similar complaints on twitter.

I don't agree that the most interesting stuff about this show is all the talking. 😂 Honestly, after episode 1 and 2 of this season, I considered not watching any more as I was tired of them discussing actions, but not seeing actions. This episode finally delivered on the action. It's fine if you want to have good dialogue and machinations behind the scenes, but if we never see it paid off in actions/battles, what's the point? There's been too much drama and not enough action. That's my opinion anyway.

I liked it but the original still hits me much more emotionally this show is missing a few things the original had. Still like it but the deaths just haven't hit nearly as hard for me and i wish they would let the female characters be a little more ambitious. Still good show but hasn't hit the greatness of GOT for me

I'm with you. There's something about the portrayal of women in House of the Dragon that feels tame. It's honestly kind of sexist, but in a completely different way. The women aren't allowed to be ambitious, violent, whacky, or malevolent. It's like women in the MCU. While the guys have fun, the gals have to be killjoys. Same here. Daemon and Aemond are badass, Rhaenys, Alicent, and Rhaenyra are wet rags. Still better than anything coming out of Disney for certain, but pales in comparison to the depth of female characters in GOT (Arya, Sansa, Catelyn, Lysa, Ygritte, Dany, Melisandre, Brienne, Margery, Lady Ollena, Cersei).
Maybe you're thinking in the original GoT as a whole, not just the first two seasons, because this story is just starting (the first season was basically a prologue of what's in the book)

This was both the best and worst episode.
I thought this was some of the worst dialogue between characters. Only the scene of Aegon and his mother really came across as interesting and unexpected.
Spoiler everybody dies... And the few people who that do Live. They live a life worse than death.

House of the dragon is PHENOMENAL Television‼️🩸⚔️🔥 im blown away by the wonderful storytelling, character development, and the devestation of it all. HBO is the KING 🔥 This is the best show of the year. My heart died with Princess Rhaenys
