The British film censor didn’t give Alien Romulus the highest rating. It got the same rating as The Batman and Five Nights at Freddy’s. This doesn’t scream “scar you for life “ 😂
To be fair, it's hard to get an 18 over here unless it's Evil Dead (2013) level gory. And jump scares and creepy atmosphere alone wouldn't achieve an 18 either. Plus, being as familiar with the Xenomorph as we are now, it's probably only gonna be scary to people who don't watch horrors or are unfamiliar. Still really looking forward to it.
I dunno man. Arachnophobia is a PG and that scarred me for life.
Well, there is only one way to find out. Buy a ticket to Alien Romulus and see it.
As a huge fan of the first 2 films, i am INCREDIBLY excited.
Marvel should get fede Alvarez to write and direct blade.
@@oldfaithful4112 , that would be interesting.
That director is PERFECT for this franchise. I loved the idea behind Prometheus, but I think this is what the franchise really needed.
Only thing that will scar me for life with this movie is if it sucks
This movie is one of those movies that I didn't know was coming out until the first trailer which sold me.
Having seen what Fede Alverez did with Evil Dead, I know he will turn up the disturbing horror aspect of the Alien franchise.
I get the backlash for Alien Resurrection and AVP, both terrible installments, but I'll never understand the hate for Alien 3. Personally I think it's very good. For me Resurrection and AVP aren't canon. I really liked 3 though and I consider the Alien franchise a trilogy. C'mon, how can you not love a bald Ripley?
Alien 3 was incredible, work of art
Was a great film
I wish they would have used practical effects instead of cgi. Then it would be right there with the other 2
@@K.KILLORAN I didn't mind, story is great and I liked it more than Aliens, which I believe banalized the xenomorph since they were loads of them. I find the 3rd instalment to be far scarier and claustrophoic
@@K.KILLORAN Very, very good point. If I had to pick one thing about 3 that I didn't like it would be the CGI for the alien. It looked out of place with the rest of the film. However, I loved the dark, gloomy atmosphere and the upside down shots. I also loved the scene where Ripley interrupts the council and screams "It's here!!"
alien will scar viewers. oh please🤣🤣
Wow, a movie cast saying their movie is the best thing since sliced bread. Riveting.
What do you want them to say? “Our movie sucks ass?”
@@user-sf1dz6dr2whes just saying the amount of times that he has heard this before is annoying
It is when cast for Madame Web says their movie sucks big time and regret it.
Well the actress is saying that movie will scar them for life.
It doesn't necessarily mean that the story of the overall movie will be the greatest thing.
Similar to how I hear people think the action in Prey was great but movie is just ok.
Literally not what she said at all but okay be annoyed with something you made up
A lot of Hollywood productions have scarred me for life, so BAD they were.
I love the first 2 "ALIEN" Movies.
I actually also like the Assembly Cut of "ALIEN 3".
I'd have preferred that they made Gibsons script.
That young diverse disney cast has already scarred me and I've only seen the trailer.
cool edgy comment bro 👍 you do realise that there were females and multiple ethnicities in the original too right? no probably not a..
@@hughmungus_698 Some out there will understand what I'm referring to.
You probably do too.
The diverse disney box ticking has completely destroyed the Star Wars franchise so don't be surprised if the same thing happens to the Alien franchise.
My expectations are through the floor from what I've seen so far,, it looks like the usual overhyped tripe of recent times.
Same thing happened with his The Evil Dead remake,, so many promises but it was in truth utterly shite.
Of course I could be wrong but I bet I'm not.
@@user-le4sm4wd1e so you’re argument is because another studio, with another franchise, with another director once hired multiple ethnicities you’re now “worried” another studio of another franchise with another director will make something similar, you see the f@cked up logic in that sentiment right?
What hype around the evil dead? I am an evil dead fan and I don’t remember an ounce of hype around that movie prior to release.
It’s fine to have a healthy amount of scepticism around things but your unhealthy beliefs that DEI will ruin every movie in existence are only ever going to taint your enjoyment of art prior to experiencing it.
@@user-le4sm4wd1ethere’s no such thing as a ‘tick box’. That’s all in your insecure head. The original cast was diverse…. If this cast is diverse they are just following the franchise’s traditions. Get over it
@@joshhunt4146 There is a tick box in western TV and Film.
They are very open about it.
Check your facts first.
The fact the TRAILERS essentially gave away 60%-70% of the plot and jump scares for 6minutes straight already proved them wrong. A trailer for any horror movie should never reveal possible deaths nor so much of the starting plot. Creepy or eerie music perhaps a nursery rhyme that fits the atmosphere, quick unsettling snippets of primary locations, a "narrative voice" but no one revealed, the words "in space nobody can hear u scre.." on a radio, Followed by a fimilar "hiss" blood splatter than Silence.. Only the title slowly appearing on screen as an S.O.S. Signal.
So what's the other 30% of the plot then? I'm being sarcastic. But you're actually right... that 1970's trailer was PERFECTION.
@@vinny8589 A vague trailer would've had everyone saying "oh great, an Alien Covenant sequel. Imma skip."
The only reason there's buzz is because Fede flexed.
Alien: Romulus looks like it has a lot of potential to me, I really like the idea of taking it back to the simple “Run from Alien” roots that the first movie had, I really liked what Fede Alvarez did with that 2013 Evil Dead and with the Predator franchise getting a bit of rejuvenation with Prey it has me wondering if this could now be the rejuvenation for the Alien franchise? I really hope so because I think this movie is looking really solid thus far
personally wanna see what happens after covenant
Same here. I loved Prometheus and Covenant, and am getting really sick at all the shitting and pissing on those two. That said, I have high hopes for this Romulus thing, and Fede's promise of SOME ties to at least Prometheus.
Me too!
I loved both Prometheus and Covenant but guess some fans didn't like it exploring the black goo and engineers. I guess we'll never get the conclusion to David's story but it's not hard to imagine.
I don't care what you say I'm looking forward to sitting down eating popcorn and enjoying this film
Fandom is so fickle. Everyone cried for years that they wanted something new, something different - Prometheus and Covenant arrived, with much deeper narratives, yet everyone cried about it, and then demanded more Alien stuff like the original, so here we are, back to square one again, re-treading the same, tired old ground, because people can't let go of nostalgia.
Romulus does look good, but it's literally the same formula. The fandom refuses to let this series evolve and hates anything that's not a carbon copy of the OG.
Prometheus could have been excellent if the characters were believable and the story had a few answers with the sequel.
As it was It was let down by the most unbelievably stupid crew making laughable choices and decisions at key times .
Yeah, alien fanbase is worst
Except those were bad. Ill take fan service, well made over new direction and bad.
@Zyklon_B_still_and_know_God Bad to you. The Internet has this special effect on people, making them forget the basics of human nature. Subjectivity being one of them. Just because something doesn't appeal to you, doesn't make that a universal truth for others.
People are different. Humans like different things. We're not preprogrammed droids with the same sub routines.
Generalisation is an all too common curse on the net.
@@jibbanibba2000not as bad as Star Wars fans
CGI is about as scary as a puppy.
It will probably be awesome, Fede is an amazing director.
Let's hope this does well in box office and we get more sequels. This franchise needs a good director to save it as Disney stated this is the hail Mary pass for this franchise. It either makes money or Disney is done with aliens.
@@jonfreeman9682 It was made on pretty small budget so I´m hopeful.
Im scared it becomes the only profitable franchise of disney and then they flood it with what we all hate about modern disney movies.
@@OchoJarocho Yep, that´s very likely. That´s why I want to just enjoy the good things we still have.
Vasques said it best....I just want to know... WHERE they are!! Alverez has done his homework,by the looks of the trailer. Why can't we find directors that know their source material? A good script, decent SFX's,dedicated directors....and a hands off Studio bean counters. Hell, if fans can make decent budget tight movies ...why,in the hell, can't a multi-million dollar franchise get competent film makers. Something is very, very wrong. The public is gettin' wise to all the false hype and not real payoff. Hollywood...had better get on the same page. After spending $16.00 for tickets for over hyped duds are getting tiresome and depressing. Then again...every movie can't be a Blockbuster!! What about those niche films or sleepers? Some movies have legs...if allowed to run for more than 2 weeks in a cinema. What a world, what a world???!!
Fede Alvarez is talented, but the cast should let the movie speak for itself, instead of setting the movie to fail 😬😬😬
Thats a big issue with cinema last years, something is off with actors getting roles all over the place
I'm absolutely pumped for this movie. But people really need to stop saying stuff like that. Overhype is really stupid.
I'm definitely going to watch this, but I also hope Ridley Scott will give us some closure (and answers) by finishing the Prometheus trilogy.
Yeah - I wish we would get that trilogy closer. While I didn’t love Covenant, I really enjoyed Prometheus and posed some very interesting questions.
@@joshhunt4146 Same! Covenant was a mess, I think mostly due to studio intervention (they wanted more aliens.) Almost none of the Prometheus mysteries were answered. (The prologue with Shaw that was cut from the movie was interesting. But only creating more questions.)
Fully agree ..🤟
Alien covenant also took it back to its horror roots but it just wasn’t that good because it was following up on Prometheus.
I thought Covenant was great. But it's a continuation of Prometheus and explores the black goo with David turning into a mad scientist. But I get some fans wanted more the classic alien.
Alien Covenant is that movie which makes Alien 4 look good
Loving the discussion around this film. It seems half of the audience is excited and the other half is skeptical. Both are 100% valid, I can’t wait for August!!!
yeah... if they did any kind of Alien movie like the game Alien Isolation... just watch out. That could be EPIC. This Romulus film looks to have some of those vibes.
If it’s as bad as the last two, no one will ever make an Alien film again. We’ll find out I guess.
Resurrection and AVP were both bad I agree but I sorta liked 3. I actually enjoyed it. I thought the idea of Ripley being the only woman on a prison planet was fantastic. I loved the scene where she runs in and interrupts the men. "IT'S HERE!!"
@@josebro352 kinda liked the premise on Prometheus but the main reason to watch was that hot chick they picked for the lead scientist.
Alien, Aliens, Prometheus were top notch.
This was also great!
The chestbursters coming out of a pregnant woman in Aliens vs Predator Requiem was supposed to be the big audience shocker back then
Does anyone really remember that now? Exactly. (well you could hardly see it anyway)
It’s all about the execution and intent. Not just shocking for the sake of it.
Which is true, but Fede has shown that he’s more than just shock value. There’s are multiple scenes from his Evil Dead remake (over a decade ago now) that are seared into my head. I’ve had multiple conversations about these scenes over the years as well.
😂look, the first Alien was scary because the monster was unknown...we now basically know the xenomorph's shoe size, among other things. This movie will suck, because there is no new original content. This will be a boring cash grab, until someone creates something innovative and interesting.
Booooo 👎 you don't know 😆
"scar some KIDS that sneak into the movie for life" I hate when media twists quotes for a headline. Every horror movie is advertised as like oooh this will scar the audience, we're so scary look at us! But this wasn't what Merced said. Isabela Merced specifically said kids, you know, the people who are not the target age group of an R rated horror movie, and she even said "...who sneak into the movie".
I am also happy it looks like Romulus is going back to the roots: a mysterious demonic creature terrorising its victims. I never cared one bit about the origine of the alien or other existential thoughts.
I have my reservations particularly about the cast choice but I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out
Alien 3 was also supposed to go back to that root.
Fede has literally said “ it’s like Alien and Aliens.
Horror and action.
Romulus will be the best thing since 1 & 2.
Yes well the proof is in the pudding, am not holding my breath
Going this Sunday!
According to my dad, when I was very young I loved monsters and scary stuff. So, when ALIEN came out (I was 6) I begged them to take me. At the scene where the alien burst out of the guys chest, I started crying and they had to take me home without seeing the rest of the movie.
Now, I don’t remember any of that, but it sounds plausible! That movie is pretty intense!
“Scar viewers for life?” When I saw Jason X with a Space Camp teens cast on Jason’s kill menu, all I did was laugh. This Alien reboot Space Camp kids flick will too while eating popcorn lol!
JASON IN SPAAAAAAAAAACE!!!
LET'S NOT DECONSTRUCT EVERY GODDAMN THING IN CINEMA.
We have already seen human centipede…and the sequels….🥱
My problem with the Alien franchise is how that beyond the first two excellent movies, there's a big dropoff. Either there are questionable creative choices that take things in bizarre directions, or they adhere to derivative formulas seen in those first two movies that rob them of any scares and suspense. The series just seems extremely confused about what it should be.
Which is a good move to return to the horror form of the first.
Subjective based on the taste of the individual viewing the movies.
I loved the finality of Alien 3, pushed aside Resurrection and the 'VS' movies, but thought Prometheus and Covenant to be the most engaging, thought provoking entries we'd had. I'm still hurting that we never got closure to David's incredible journey.
Now...we're just back to the same, tired old formula.
@PullThePluGz the problem was covenant. Ridley trolled the audience I can hear him saying, angrily chomping a cigar, "you didn't like my lofty origin story about creation.......here you go here are some monsters you cretins"
@@HumanHamCube Blame the fans. They were the ones that cried about it. They were the ones that changed the direction of Covenant because their tiny minds couldn't get on board with larger narratives.
Both the prequels had more depth than any other film in the franchise, but fans were simply like 'jUsT wAnT mOnsTeRs iN sPaCe!'
@@Utoobzz "Want more of same, but you better make it original and surprising!"
I did enjoy Prometheus and Alien Covenant. I wish they could have finished the trilogy. That said, this may be the best path forward.
actors promoting movies yes.
I stopped watching this video once you started dissing ALIEN 3.
He's right. It's garbage
@@DoubleDDeacon ALIENS? Yeah, it's glorified garbage. Aged really badly.
It's awful
Giger's Beast is my favorite scare source because Alien came out when I was ten and now I'm 54. I never tire of its insatiable drive for self-perpetuation at all costs, its complete disregard for human life, or its unique ability to frighten me without ever looking at me (no eyes). A vicious killing machine with no visible eyes is eternally terrifying because it has no soul whatsoever.
I would like to be scarred for life, please. Thank you.
I hate all the discourse that comes out before movies are released or by "media" after screenings about how scary films are... just stop.
This. Even if a film is decently scary, by overhyping it, it ruins the moment. It's like telling people how funny a joke is before retelling it. Theres no way it can live up to that.
Is the Alien legal? Second does the Alien have pronouns? Just curious.
Aliens breach victims in other places then chest cavity...no spoilers
The first of each franchise Alien and Terminator wasn't just horror it was the most intense horror and that is psychological.horror something that Nightmare on elm street did just as much as the physical horror that elm street also did. We are coming about full circle with movies and this movie is the start of going back to movies having depth in the aesthetics, from what i see the story and character depth and building so we can care about them and have real reactions if something happens to them.
I think we're in for a ground breaking horror scene, similar to the 1st film.
Yup
Don't give me hope. I can't build up hope for this franchise again after Covenent 😂. Always hope I'm wrong though.
Covenant was good but it had to continue from Prometheus. This is a reboot going back to classic alien.
@@jonfreeman9682what you on about
Prometheus was far better than covenant you spanner lol
It can't be THAT bad.
I'm looking forward to this movie. I got to thinking that if a studio decides to make a brand new Halloween trilogy, they should get fede Alvarez to make them. If he can bring back Alien to it's horror roots, then just think how disturbing Halloween would be. Just a thought.
If this movie is a hit then he will be in demand to reboot every horror franchise. I do enjoy his filmography and this alien movie is a big step up for him in budget and scope.
I sure fucking hope it does
never thought i'd say this about a non eli roth movie but, for the love of god PLEASE scar me mentally!
its been so long since we've had a decent alien movie
Even though it gets a bad rep I don't think Alien 3 was all that bad. It's certainly better than Resurrection and AVP.
The best thing about the original alien you didn't see the alien till the second part of the movie the original messed with your mind
There was nothing scary about this movie. It was such a let down
So if we dont get scarred can we get a refund?
Requiem for a dream scarred me
@@alexhein6386now that's a movie example that scarred deep
Couldn’t have said it better myself 😂…there’s only 2 alien movies…this might make 3…but I doubt it…
I think making it a horror movie definitely makes sense, although it's probably more difficult than it used to be since by now everybody knows what the Xenomorphs look like and how they procreate. From what I've read, the original Alien from 1979 was so intense for its time (and yes, I've seen it several times) that some people crawled out of the screening rooms on all fours and/or puked their guts out into the movie theaters' toilets. Cleaning crews must have really hated that movie.
I can only imagine how exciting and riveting it was seeing the original alien in theaters! Hopefully this new film offers at least a tiny bit of what the original did for its first time viewers
@@nikolasstout69 Yes, but it was probably traumatic for many as well. As far as I know, something like the chestburster scene hadn't been seen in movie theaters before. Other horror films were a joke by comparison. Even the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre probably wasn't as shocking. According to what I've heard, that one had been just as unpopular with cleaning crews around 5 years earlier.
I was 13 when I went to see Alien in the theaters in 1979 with my mom and sister. We lived nearby an air force base at the time. After seeing Alien, when the big C5's were taking off at the AFB, I could hear the rumble in the distance. Brought back the scary sounds from Alien for some time :)
Yall sound like haters for anything that tries to move outside the box. I love every Alien movie in their own way. Of course the originals more than others but I like the newer Ridley Scott movies almost equally as much. If every Alien movie was dark and scary the series would have a repetitive Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger type horror vibe in my mind but the Alien movies are more diverse in style. Why not celebrate it and learn to enjoy it instead of complain
Amen bro! Preach!
Bro Alien Covenant was an abomination. Everything after the first 2 just get worse and worse I don’t know know wtf you’re smoking on. You’re literally trying to guilt people into enjoying subpar movies. All the criticism is valid and the horror direction is the right move and literally has zero resemblance to Halloween or Nightmare on Elm street. Just because it’s “dark and scary” ? No idea what you’re talking about. Expanding lore is great but not if it’s a convoluted mess.
Too late me in late 80s as a kid
Alien and aliens are incredible suspense and action films. Between them, there isn't a single scene I would call scary.
What scenes in film do YOU consider "scary"?
I love fede. Definitely gonna watch this
Im shocked that there is such negativity in the comments around this considering its a franchise going back to its roots with a director who clearly respects the source material and that they are using predominantly practical effects rather than shitty CGI.
I suspect there is going to be some humble pie being eaten shortly
I understand the 'need' for this return to root formula for the fandom, but I think it's just a cop out for a very stuffy, elitist fandom who are stuck in 1979 and refuse to let the franchise evolve.
Prometheus and Covenant had the chance to take us to new places, but the fans put the walls up, as they hate anything that's not 'OG' enough.
@@Utoobzz yeah you’re right there are some “elitist” fans of the OG movie. Personally I loved Prometheus as it added so much lore to the Alien series, Covenant was terrible though.
@@hughmungus_698 To each their own, my friend. We all see it differently.
I loved Covenant in terms of David and the philosophies the movie carried in terms of humanity and its perceived place in the food chain. Thinking they were above everyone by creating David, then treating him as subservient, only to have their creation resent his masters ill treatment, and exercise his superiority by creating himself. Something that he deemed perfection, to be used as a tool to eradicate his former makers.
Poetic and wonderfully deep stuff.
Nice marketing gimmick, but I guarantee that statement is waaaaaay overblown.
The entitled gen z comments in here who’ve been brought up on MCU movies. Pathetic 😂
Gen Z gives no shit on that movie I tell you
well... your 'head' is wrong. Finchers Alien cubed is great, the most adult film of the Ripley Triad. Alien is a Horror film, Aliens is an Action movie, and Alien 3 is an drama.
@@simonbeech576 because it stinks. Not as bad as Covenant but you definitely need the Febreze for it.
@@simonbeech576 Sorry but it is. :P
I hope they will also have a first-class soundtrack in this movie because the ambience in Alien was really enhanced by this.
I felt Alien Covenant was definitely more towards Alien than Aliens...it just didn't execute.
So I shouldn't go see it with my mom?
Hope though this is not just the usual horror recipe, shock and awe let's see how shocking we can make it, but then actually have no real story.
To be fair, Alien 3 went "back to the roots" but didn't do a good job of it. It is basically a second take at Alien.
I liked it though. Especially the director's cut. Nice and gritty.
@@Zeitgeist6 it is pretty mediocre and killing of Hicks and Newt was a bad call. (Yes I am reference the Burke quote there)
@@volbound1700if you go off the video game Aliens Colonial Marines story (which was approved as a continuation of the aliens story) Hicks didn’t actually die. He is alive in the game so it was someone else that died that was mistaken for Hicks
@@GrowingShark that was a retcon and it isn't clear if it is fully cannon or not since the game didn't perform that well (my wife and I enjoyed doing play throughs of it).
SO TRUE,Stick to the horror it was based on. Predator as well. Too much action and not scifi horror.
Only the babies born prior to the year 2000.
Ummmmm.....I don't think so.
Gotta agree with you mate, I had no interest in this film until I saw some footage as well
I realllllly hope that it scares the shit out of me. There really have been very very few true scary movies in yeears
Game over Man!
I have a feeling that this was made so the movie can f'ck the franchise over for a percentage. :P
I am happy they said that. Now i dont have to watch it 😁
How...Will it misgender the alien?
If the Alien identifies as human, are they still allowed to view it as a threat?
At this point is just exaggerations!!!!!
I never think of them making a movie any movie as being a mistake there's so many awesome surprises that happen whether its the movie or casting there's always been triputation about something then it turns out awesome and then everyone like yay we love it lol forget what we said before lol
So did The Room....
Lets remake the same movies again and again ... At least Prometheus and Covenant had something new.
Hopefully they make sequel to Alien Isolation
Evil dead was awesome, funny but awesome.
Alien3 definitely exists and was definitely in the mould of the first, but was more desperate and depressing which didn't sit well with alot of people. It still has alot of positive points. The likes of prometheus would have been better if the whole "religion" bit had been avoided and the Space Jocky's/Engineers were actually a brand new type of Alien that could have been used to really start reminding people that the universe is a VERY big place, but the whole "oh they are just us" stuff was utter toss. 8ft tall proper aliens with a whole other story could have helped expand the universe rather than drive some Jesus was an engineer narrative.
The assembly cut is a great nihilistic end to the franchise, super underrated film
I heard from a playtester friend that Romulus is gunna be a story about Wey/Yu finding the body ejected from the nostromo and experimenting on it. Solid horror, no one lives, would do Ridley proud. You know they will kill the Skipper, Mary Ann and Gilligan and Ginger and the Professor and Thursten and Lovey will get away or die off screen. This is Ridleys style, which Fede shall emulate, is my prediction. Thats not a bad Alien movie. I'll watch it.
Prometheus already scarred me for life, what a disaster.
But it still had some bloody breathtaking cinematography. Covenants only redeeming feature is Fassbender.
Hey you take that back!
I trust in Fede Alvarez, he did a really good job with Evil Dead so i can't wait to see Romulus.
Just get the xenomorph on EARTH and have the infestation become the pandemic ala zombie apocalypse....and have the aliens spark scorched earth....even if we survive the earth will NEVER recover....THAT would be terrifying.
Fun fact: Back in the 90s Sigourney Weaver approached the producers with an idea about an Earth set Alien film but they quickly shot the idea down. I guess their reasoning was that they wanted to keep the setting for the franchise in deep space.
I’m seeing this in theaters. I’ve enjoyed all of them besides avp requiem. That one was dog shit.
I enjoyed AvP Requiem too😅✌️
Bro I'm hesitant to watch this one! I still think about the first chest burster... Gotta see it though.
Spoiler alert: everyone dies!🤪
Yawn! Really? Unless it's like....
Alien Isolation in VR ....... IS the Greatest Alien ALIEN A L I E N Thing there ever was!
I'm an Alien fan, and I was Too scared to play it!
THAT!!!! Is where this idea comes from. On a space station. In the Alien Universe.
Androids, and Aliens in the Alien Time frame and set.
So yeah, it will be scary first watch, and for kids.
But to scar normal fans.
The director literally said he took from Alien Isolation to make this film.
