Zittauer Schmalspurbahn

Another former East German 750mm gauge railway, the most easterly of all the Saxony narrow gauge lines. The line is slightly different from the others in that it makes quite extensive use of a deisel locomotive in addition to stem power.

Thanks, Mervyn. The former East German narrow gauge lines always impress me. They still operate all year around and provide an important form of transport in severe winter weather.

I'm reading that transporter wagons were quite common in some European countries like Germany. The only example of them in the UK I think was the Leek and Manifold. Not sure if there were any others. Lovely video Gareth.
