RAVEN! I hope you see this lol. Hard back Caribbean here, I know the feeling. We have dads that are so strong opinion, strong willed, "lead" the house. It's what you "want" but, men in this day and age want to get your opinion because it's being considerate not necessarily because they want guidance. I am the same, I want them to make the way, pave the decision but, buy a house without consulting me I may freak out lol.

The Dilemma girl said her parents seemed to always be on the brink of divorce right? So I'm assuming all she's ever known is her dad to lead things possibly without involving her mum (which could be a factor of why they were having problems) and she may internalise that to mean 'This is how a man is' even though it's not the only way. She's never seen a man take into consideration what she wants or work together as a partnership (again assumption of parents relationship) so it's giving her the ick from her man, where he's showing her a different side of a man.
The only thing that really should give her the ick tho is him saying I know you're too good for me...that insecurity of his is icky and admitting it out loud changes their dynamic.

The dilemma with the guy who isn't sure of himself and thinks you are too good for him is a tricky situation. Most women want a confident man, a self-assured man, however all humans have times of vulnerability or doubt. He must trust "Raven" enough to show this side of himself and feel open to expressing himself to her. There is a difference between low self-esteem/insecure and being open/vulnerable with your partner. Just because he is a man does that mean he cannot have moments of feeling unsure. If not what do you think the lack of emotional expression results in? Rage, anger and resentment for his partner. And you should want him to ask your honest opinion. Let men feel the full range of emotions we feel. Sometimes women grow up with a certain type of man or perception of men, sometimes it's machismo type.
That being said, everyone needs to see red flags of insecurity, obsessiveness and jealousy.

For the dilemma: You need to talk to him & reassure him that you trust him, his opinions & actions in life. He needs to that you aren't into controlling him & vice versa. In order for him to stand on his own you might need to begin make him make smaller decisions so he's more comfortable with the big 1s. What do you want for dinner? He might have been in a household with a controlling parent or had a controlling ex so he operates as such. If he's worth keeping, invest the time to build his confidence back up cuz if you tell him you don't want to have an opinion then later get upset for lack of consideration it'll be more of an issue.

As far as the dilemma, he set the tone as a man by saying this is what we’re doing in the future but now that it’s time, he’s tryna include her to make sure they’re on the same page.
