This factory looking Toyota pickup truck surprised the heck out of everyone at the TRC Invitational! He goes up against the insanely fast McLaren 720s, a full bolt on Nissan GTR running e-85 fuel, a 2JZ swapped 300ZX, and the infamous Sleeper Honda insight.

can confirm they put the power down very well. i ran 12.8 quarter mile with stock ls1 with a t56 magnum sock suspension and $50 douglas all seasons from walmart
The toyota badge on the intercooer is a nice touch to help look like the factory grill

My first car as a teen was a 92 Toyota pick up for 500 bucks I bought from a friend this was the build I was going to do since then my friend has past and the truck has been sold but after this video I know now what has to be done...dont lose focus of your dreams growing up...i did now it's time to make up for it thank you guys this video really hit a spot in chest

Such a straight forward swap. 2JZ-probably the best most tunable&tuned engine. When my 2009 C class estate(wagon) with 1.6 supercharged engine will die off, or whenever I have the money for the swap, Ill do it. Its 2JZ or LS:))

720s vs 300zx turned up ?
Yeah, they would be neck in neck, both seem to be ~1 car ahead of the Toyota. And the Toyota seemed to be very consistent. However, neither the 720s, nor the 300zx put their best time on the low gears. It would be a shame if they didn't run.

How can a bolt on GTR be that close to the truck that was that close to the 720s when on dragtimes they show the 720s walking away from 900hp+ GTRs? Something don't add up

That's PBIR in Florida. They have a great go-kart track there too. I raced Rotax go-karts there, speeds up to 65 mph. The G-Forces are insane. I used to race motorcycles there too in CCS

I love how when an underdog is racing anything expensive, the more expensive car “should win cuz it’s an exotic”. So in that sense if I bought a multi-million dollar old Ferrari F40 with 10k miles I should be killing Alpha 20 GTRs because I spent millions on it. Smh.

The way a vehicle is originally designed by it's manufacturer is what dictates how it should be perceived. When an individual(or aftermarket company) alters any vehicle that's not known for it's performance pedigree, then a "sleeper" is created. Obviously a $7,000 Toyota pick up(when new) is altered to the point where it runs 10 second 1/4 mile times(nearly twice as fast as it was designed to perform), it is supposed to shock high dollar exotica. Spending a million dollars(in today's money) on a vintage 1988 Ferrari F40(a $400,000 car originally) and expecting to "win" a race against tuner modified GTR is sort of silly as the GTR in factory form is faster than the F40(at least in terms of 1/4 mile acceleration). A 1962 Ferrari GTO(considered the world's most valuable vehicle at over $35 million dollars) can't even beat today's Honda Accord 2.0T sedan in a 1/4 mile drag race(then again, look at the specs, 1962 Ferrari GTO 300bhp in gross ratings, more like 240 real net bhp and the Accord 2.0T with 252 net bhp, but underrated by the factory as nearly similar engine makes 306 bhp in the Type R Civic). I don't see how comparing a valuable vintage exotic to a modern performance oriented vehicle is shocking when the vintage exotic loses dramatically in a drag race. Now a vehicle designed to run 18 to 20 second 1/4 mile times is modified to beat something nearly twice as fast, yes, shocking(and great to watch).
The more expensive the car just means the smaller the penis. And that's all it means.
