Taurus G3X - Best $285 I Ever Spent On A 9mm Handgun - One Of My Favorite Pistols!

  • Taurus just came out with the G3X and I was lucky to get my hands on the first one in town. I didn't think Taurus could make their G series of pistols even better....but they did. This mid-size pistol is accurate, reliable and fast becoming one of my favorite pistols.

I have the g2c the g3c and g3 Taurus pistols. The g3 had over 10 thousand rounds through it when I bought another one just like it. I have several 9 mm pistols of different brands but none have ever proved to be any more reliable than the Taurus.

There is cheap and there is frugal. You probably grew up like me. Mom and Dad grew up during the Depression. They passed it on to me reuse, repurpose, recycle. If you can't afford it you do without.
Example Dad had a sileage cutter that was worn out. He sent me and my brother out with the cutting torch and grinder. We cut it apart and dressed up the metal. Dad took it and made a cherry picker. It was.heavy duty and we still use it over 50 years later.

@@stevenwagner9912 Yeah, my parents grew up in the Great Depression. We were working class and my friends and I rented cherry pickers and swapped engines and transmissions and sold cars when we were 16 and 17. We learned by trial and error and asking guys older than us for advice. We all had full time jobs and were a little wild but damn we had a good time and learned a lot.

I filled the first magazine with a variety of older jacketed hollow points made by different manufacturers and two rounds of plain 115 grain FMJ's. The 3rd round, a 124 grain Speer Lawman, had a FTF and I had a little trouble clearing it. After that one and only failure, I had no problems whatsoever for the next 147 rounds. It effortlessly shot everything I put through it. I had nice, tight groupings at 5 and 7 yards! Even out to as far as 20 yards the groupings were far better than expected. This is a good pistol! The budget price just makes it all the more appealing.

    1. The g3 comes with the same 15rd mag and has a extra 17 round
    2. You don't have to pull the trigger to take it down
    3. Technically, the G3 is a single-action striker-fired pistol. However, if for some reason the round doesn’t go off, you have restrike capability. The trigger resets forward and allows the shooter to pull the trigger again in (DA) mode without having to cycle the slide. Once a round is racked into the chamber, there is no decocker, so you’ll only go to backup DA mode if the round doesn’t fire for some reason.

Guns that Taurus can't import are still mostly manufactured in Brazil. The G3c was designed to barely qualify for import under the GCA point system. The G3x might not have enough points to qualify for importing because of the safety being omitted. I believe they launched the G3x without the safety before the G3c because they're still ramping up their production in Georgia.

i have the G3 full size. I have yet to take it out and shoot it. It does feel great in the hand and the prices on the G3 is the best you will find for a quality pistol. I always enjoy your videos. Good information and fun to watch. I would love to see something where you compare the most least expensive 9mm or 380's. Jennings, Lorcin, Jimenez, etc...

Good morning Andrew. I can't tell you the last time I seen a Jennings or Lorcin firearm but if I ever find one of them at a decent price I just might pick it up and do a review on it. Thanks for the suggestion and I appreciate you watching our videos.

It also has no safety like the rest of the G2c G3 and G3c,not yet anyways but I kind of like the safety on my model G3,and thanks mixup ,you always show us great videos ,you and your son .thanks for taking us along.

I did forget to mention that the G3x does not have an external safety.....yet. I actually prefer no external safety on a defensive carry firearm. My son was at work today when I made this video but hopefully he will be in our next video.

Always great to see you out there...well I have been really resisting getting the 3c model 🤣..ever since you did that review on it and well I think you just gave me the final push 🤠🤣🤣🤣....I trust your judgment on the reliability....looks like I'm going to the FFL....🤠🤠🇺🇸.I would love to see a follow up on the 3c..if I can twist your arm to give it a detailed rundown....I found a few for a great price....thank you for everything my friend

Taurus is offering a rebate on the G3C right now, and I have seen them for under $200. After rebate. Don’t need it, but after the video on it and considering the low price, I may have to saddle up, just because.

    • @mixup98
      @mixup98  Před 2 lety +1

I highly recommend the G3c if you have medium size hands but you might want to consider the 3x if you have larger hands like I do. I just might do a follow-up on the 3c pistol and I might also do a video where I have my son compare the 3c and 3x side-by-side to get his opinion.

Taurus has come a long way, they still have quality control issues but are getting better. Had one issue with the a few years ago getting my firearm repaired they kept saying they had trouble getting parts and the repair took four months. The lubrication on the firearm and sometimes in and on the magazine is for storage and shipping not shooting and both the firearm and magazines should be thoroughly cleaned and firearm lubricated before firing.

In our part of this world, the store that sells Glocks from the US is also the seller of Taurus products. Its interesting to note the fierce competition between these two brands in one store. Glock 17s were issued to the police several years back. But a couple of years ago, the police were also issued Taurus pistols. Both brands were sold by the same store.
