Teach Your Dog to Calm Down: Zen and Meditation

In today's video, we'll go over how to teach your dog a great impulse control skill - Zen! Once they learn that, bump it up a notch to Meditation!
In this video, I focused on how strengthen this behavior by adding distractions. Read below for more assistance on strengthening with distance and duration.
To increase duration, go back to no distractions,
and SLOWLY increase the time between clicks. When you start, you might have 1 sec between clicks. Eventually increase to 2, 3, 4, 5, etc.
To increase distance, go back to no distractions and quicker clicks and treats. SLOWLY take half a step back with one foot, like a weight change. Click back there and return to the dog for treat delivery. Practice a couple of times and then move back one step with both feet for increased difficulty. Gradually increase the number of steps.
Keep in mind we only practice strengthening one "D" at a time (distance, duration, or distraction) unless the dog has mastered a specific difficulty first.
If at any point your dog isn't successful it could mean you made it too hard too fast. Take the difficulty back to where they were successful and try again!
