A tough district attorney has been cleaning up the town, and has already imprisoned twelve dangerous criminals. As he is about to name the target for his next investigation, he is murdered in the midst of a crowd. The police have many suspects and hardly any clues, so two reporters decide to investigate for themselves. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
I enjoy these old black
and white "B" movies so much. Perhaps it's my age after I was one year old when this film was made, 1937.
.
Surprising good 'whodunit' with an excellent script, and a very nice chemestry between the reporter and his secretary that adds to the quality of the film. Well, it seems that old Pizzaflix treasures are currently notified to me and that's a treat !
I've been watching old, old movies for years, but this must have been one I missed. Nice surprise!
Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX. May the Sauce be with you!
What a waste of film time.😢
"You got that poison dart found in his neck"
"Sure...right here" as he pulls it out of his top desk drawer.
"How about the contents of his pockets."
"Sure...right here." also in his drawer.
Like, isn't that where you're supposed to keep sensitive evidence.
No, it's supposed to be kept in an evidence locker. Of course, if it was the LAPD in the OJ Simpson case, they'd keep the evidence in the back of a pick-up for two days with nobody watching it, so the defense attorney could say it could have been tampered with and move that it all be ruled inadmissible.
Boy, that District Attorney sure knows how to create a slander suit simply by getting on the air and accusing local prominent folks of all being criminals. At 51:00. So where is all the murder evidence being "stored?" Why in the cop's desk, of course!
You said it! That one broadcast would have brought a cluster of lawsuits down on his head!
Note that laws from one state to another may vary. And this is almost 90 years ago, when we weren't bogged down with thousands of laws regulating every move we make.
I have a gong like the one at the radio, from my parents. I always have been fascinated by the sound of its 4 notes.
I bet your hobby is collecting elbow patches.
@@keithharvey7230 Ooooh, that's cold.
Did Robert Homans ever play anything but a cop? He was a beat cop in 'X Marks the Spot', a Sheriff in 'Red River Valley', a Lt. Inspector in 'Rogue's Gallery', and here he's a police Lt. again. He always came across as better than many of the police we have today.
Don't forget James Burke and Tom Kennedy.
@@keithharvey7230 Ah, but THEY didn't seem so typecast.
Old time real coos were less crooked in real old days. Mist had what is basically lacking in government and many of us today. Personal integrity.
Thank you for sharing this video
God bless
Great movie in so many aspects!
Excellent script, well paced, competent acting, one of PizzaFlix's best.
You are a gentleman of style & taste. Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX. May the Sauce be with you.
PATHETIC ... SORRY EXCUSE for acting ... much like YOUR COMMENT
I'm glad Weldon Heyburn finally got a starring role. He was a great support player for years, but never quite made the top ranks. The rest of the support cast was almost perfect. I especially liked Matty Fain, the gangster. He seemed 100% authentic. The only loser, in my opinion, was Inez Courtney. Her over the top gestures would have been more appropriate in a silent movie.
I often wonder: Exactly where did 1930's & 1940's Hollywood's obsession with reporters in crime mysteries come from?
From the gangster era of the 1920's.
Radio & TV were still in the future. Newspapers and word-of-mouth were the means of mass communication. And journalists-----no, I don 't mean the blonde bimbos who present 'the news' these days-----went out and got what the public would then see in print. Those days are gone. These days, we watch the one-eyed monster and are expected to believe everything we see and hear.
"say, are you incineratin' that me and One-punch are dumb or somethin'?" 46:57 LOL
I was expecting the two palookas to start following Swifty and for him to mistake them for assassins.
How many times has a thugs last words before he gets punched been: "Why you..." BAM!!
Thank you
Good movie, we need more like this
Than movies would BLUNDER! This ... 'film' ... was a COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME.
Thanks:)
Lovely old movies♥️♥️♥️
PATHETIC WASTE OF TIME!
That was FANTASTIC
That was GREAT
I Didn't see that WOW ENDING coming?
I didn't see the beginning coming. They cut off the opening credits.
Awesome!
A Good movie, tho a bit" draggy" in the middle.I think Milburn Stone played "Jimmy"&!he was so young! He's only actor I recognized other than actor who played police lieutenant.Thanks4 Sharing this film,PizzaFlix!

Maiming to john mc Cormack , many thanks 🤗
Can anything be done to 'edit out' that droning background noise from the soundtrack?
Opening the film with that tenor was a mistake. I was just about to switch to another film, when they cut off "Romeo Cassanova."
His singing is horrible.
More Micks than the St. Paddy's day parade
Mass deportations will begin at sunrise. Don't expect them to go peacefully.
I must be getting ready good as a detective I had the main man pegged all along.....or maybe it’s because I’ve watched so many of these type of movies B-4 ??
You beat me. I didn't piece it together until the mid-way point.
10:25 You don’t have to turn on the vacuum cleaner to get the dirt
Good "Whodunnit" 👍
Doc Adams before he went to Med School and moved to Dodge.
Good one, 😅😅
Ah why don't you give your public a rest
A good movie
Thanks
Has no credits
spoiler alert so don't read on unless you've gotten to the 40 min. mark.
Managed to get me emotional for a brief moment when they killed Jimmy. I don't see why they couldn't have put in icu in a coma for a while while they solved the case -grrr.
The sound is so bad , sorry I'm out
Wish the sound ere better!
Every body smoked then
And hats! 😄
A lot of people did drugs as well.
@@philiptaylor1493 they smoked hats?
@@wesleyrodgers886 Good one...!!
notice its the complete opposite of today's society. Yesterday was a utopia, today is a dystopia.
I tried, I just can't take it anymore.
"It's all Trump's fault."
ha,ha,ha
very much like a Charlie Chan movie
And just as STUDID AND LAME!
This would have been a great movie without the slapstick.
I agree. There have been a lot of fine movies from the old days that were compromised by inappropriate comedy.
Would have been a decent one ... had there been decent acting. Great training tool for ... HOW NOT TO ACT.
I didn't catch what the Fireman said to Swifty at 1:04:00
He said he "wants a 'three-some' with his momma "
69 minutes. I seemed longer.
Senor Romeo Cassanova cannot lip-sync.
That's all right, he can't sing either.
OR ACT!
It's not a good idea to make your hero totally unlikable. Swifty is a jerk who you wanna take a swing at.
Just cause it's old don't make it a classic.
With the hat and overall look, I think the actor was setting himself up to be a Dick Tracy character in the future.
Agree very simplistic script, B movie at best. Can't get me to care about who the bad guy is.
There are many good movies with characters like that............and also with female leads who are 'career women' with egos and self-importance that would make Hillary Clinton blush.
Pretty BAD ACTING in this. Funniest thing of this movie ... was the 'actors' acting like actors. PERFECT training tool for how NOT TO ACT!
Good movie. I had a hunch who did it - I was right!
PATHETIC film! Much like your comment.😅
I figured that it was 'Romeo Casanova', the radio singer. Anyone who sings like that would surely be capable of cold-blooded murder.
