Awhile ago I replaced the transfer case motor in a 2011 f150 truck that had a 4x4 error code. The question that was bugging me was does cause the transfer case motor failure. To my discovery the motor did indeed still work but the encoder may have only needed timing to make everything work.

As always, informative. Hope to see that 8.8 under the Jeep soon.

Interesting, I didn’t know exactly how the electronic transfer case switch worked. Can’t wait to see what you find on your new gold claims, that place looks promising.

There's a seal (red) between the switch & gear housing so maybe it's corrosion affecting contacts... can you get the switch portion apart?

Is there a manual conversion kit to replace the electric motor available?

The amount of fabrication needed and reprogramming it wouldn’t be feasible

Why did'nt Ford just keep the floor lever for 4-WD ??? Old School is Best!!! What's so terrible about having to reach down to the floor and Pulling a Lever ???
My 2010 Silverado has a Proper 4-WD FLOOR SHIFTER. Ford Tuff 🤔 Not with this

Ford can't charge you $250 for a cable or a couple heim joints...

And when you're paying $100,000 for a new truck, I believe customers want the 4x4 to engage itself nowadays. Convince comes at a cost, always!
